I don't think of myself as a tanker at all. But as the season winds down a reward of some kind for all this misery would be nice. A 3rd overall pick or even higher, the hockey gods willing, would be good. I don't care if Montreal wins out the rest of the way as long as Long Island, Tampa, Toronto and Minny do as well.

Big night for my Sea Dogs last night, 13-4 over Cape Breton, Nathan had 1 goal and 2 assists. The big gun was a kid named Charlie Coyle who joined Saint John after the WJC from Boston University and was a 1st round pick by San Jose and then traded to Minnesota in the Brent Burns deal. 3 goals, 3 assists, +4 with 4 hits. He is about 6-2, 215lbs, what a stud. Going to the game tonight hopefully will join you great folks when I get in.

    1. Ya. The Sharks never seem to care about keeping those first round picks... Trading him was a bigger error than Habs sending off McDonagh, and I don't care if it was for Brent Burns. That really wasn't their biggest need and unlike the Habs with so many defencemen in the system, you really shouldn't trade forwards like him...(Thanks for Patches~)

The way the season has gone for the Sharks, they would probably like a mulligan on Coyle. Craig Rivet for Josh AND Max? Doug what were you thinking? And we give Gainey grief for Gomez; it wouldn't have mattered so much if Gomer wasn't eating up so much salary cap, that's the killer.

  4. I just watched RC's post-game presser and someone commented Cole being humble and RC smiled and said amusingly that he isn't so humble in the dressing room.
I picture him as being quite the prankster for some reason.

  8. I wouldn't put any money down on Pierre Gauthier being replaced. Also, this Roy for coach business as reported by some mediot is nonsense. The GM (whomever he will be) hand picks his own coach. But then again, what the hell do I know? But I will say this, JM would have squeezed a few more wins out of this bunch, he was dull but more experienced. Coaching was not the problem, it's the manpower. Same thing goes for the leaf.

Bill Parcells once said: "You are what your record says you are."

I, for one, am so fucking glad that fucking stiff Martin is gone, I don't care how may games they could or couldn't have won. They are going to have to be careful with whoever is the next coach. I don't expect them to be much better next year and you don't want the new guy crucified right off the bat. Hopefully management will keep expectations low starting out.

Read an interesting rumour today that maybe Lou Lamoriello wants out of Jersey. If he brings Zach Parise with him I'm all for it. Maybe he can engineer a deal for Gomez before he bails, what a fucking present that would be for Jersey fans! Ha!

      Delete
    3. Lou always had a thing for the Montreal Canadiens. He says he's modelled his organization after them and he's dipped often into the ex-Habs pool to run his teams.

  15. Oh those mediots, they have got it all wrong. St. Patrick will be GM, and Hartley the sacrificial coach. Then when Québec gets the Coyotes, St. Patrick will trade himself. Of course, Gomez, being the great guy he is will announce his retirement soon, in French of course. Ohh, and by the way Big Jean is a game time decision tonight, possibly on a line with 'ti Boom and LeBlanc, or maybe Staubitz replicating the role of John Ferguson. Somewhere I still have the motor drive Sports Illustrated spread of Bobby Hull's jaw getting broken.

    2. I don't understand your Eller hate all of a sudden. His linemates are injured and traded and for some reason, even though White and Leblanc were great with him, he's now stuck with Bourque who maybe wins one board battle a week...

      Delete
    3. The thing I have with Eller is simple. He scored 4 goals in one game but since then he's played like someone who scores 4 goals a game, every game and expects the opponents to treat him like someone who can score 4 goals a game. One fancy spinorama shootout goal does not make you someone to be feared - they've seen it, studied it and - oh look at that - you haven;t scored in a shootout since. He reminds me of some of the guys I used to play with on the rink back when I was a kid - they had the moves - the same moves! and they used them all the time. They were cocky as fuck and hated it when you hit them or checked them off the puck - like you were not good enough to do THAT to them. I think his work ethic sucks and his appreciation of his own brilliance has yet to be substantiated. The skills are there but there is a lot of work to be done still.

Hey guys! Been in a few minutes getting caught up. I checked with my source at Harbour Station and he says it's gonna happen, Patrick Roy is the GM in waiting.

@Number31, Charlie Coyle - another hat trick tonight, 3 goals and 2 assists, +5. That's 11 points in 2 games. Oh, and Nathan had 1 goal 2 assists plus two almost fights, the linesmen kept getting in the way. I'm gonna give him the Gordie Howe hat trick tonight, close enough.
