30 for Patches. Awesome. So they have a scorer or two, now just need some defence. Oh, and a General Manager.

  5. Let's look at this in another way for a second. Patches getting 30 goals is awesome! Well done. But this makes the first tine since '07 that the Habs have a 30 goal scorer on the team. If Cole stays healthy they might end up with 2. DDD should hit 20 and if RBQ wakes the fuck up he might get 20 as well. If we hark back to the glory days of the 70o's we had the likes of Lafleur, Lemaire, Shutt Mahovolich etc.)getting 40, 50 or 60 a piece. Then the "role players" kicked in with Jarvis, Gainey, Riseborough, temblay, houle, lambert etc., getting 20 odd goals a piece. The bit players chipped in (Roberts, Wilson, etc.)with a dozen a piece and the D (Big 3,Chelios, Langway etc.) helped with something like 10-12 (or more) a piece. Rock solid goaltending, a solid back up and some muscle to keep the other teams in line made the Habs what they were - Stanley Cup Champions!

Now we appear to have some of the pieces in place with Patches, Cole, DDD, Eller scoring the goals, Solid goaltending and a couple of heavies to keep people in line. What we are missing are the role players (although you could include Plexxe and Gio as a role players, but I wonder if they are both spent forces or not).

Which means that there is a lot of work to be done and the sooner this season is over with and the work truly begins the better.

    Way to go Patches!

Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!!!

    1. I believe that Patches would have passed 30goals. He missed 3 games due to suspension and I think when he came back he was playing in a subdued manner till he finally got his confidence back.

  6. I don't know who this Jason Statham is, but goddamn he is ruggedly handsome! NTTAWWT

    Quality SF as always moe

You know, we're only 5 points behind the Laff. If we could finish ahead of them, I would enjoy that. I'm not one of those "tank for the purposes of good draft pick" guys, I think that's embarrassing

    1. Thx Bro. He's the lead from the 'The Transporter' flics.

I agree with 29, pass the leaf, they'll find a way to fuck up their draft pick. Also, too, love the 76/67 in the main pic. We know why PFK! chose 76 (tranna kid flips the 7 and the 6, for fun). Anyone know why PatCHes (maybe) chose 67?

    2. Gotta respectfully disagree. A top 5 pick in the modern era is almost impossible to fuck up. There are three Ruskies that are looking like Pavel Bure and two Malkins, I want one.

    3. Let the games play out. We pass the fucking leaf, meh. I'm more interested in possibly combining a few picks (how many ins rounders do the Habs have?) for an upgraded pick or possible trade scenario.

    4. Just because he is French I would make a lopsided trade for Huberdeau, the Montreal Canadians need a French star let alone a superstar, and that kid seems to have potential for both.

    5. Agree but there is no way Huberdeau is traded. None.

I have to agree with moe, no way Florida trades Huberdeau. I can't wait for the playoffs to start and watching JH light it up. The bigger the game, the better he gets.

Also have to agree with Steve, pick #3 would be great, potentially a franchise type forward that other fans wish they had on their team. Bonus, we won't have to wait long for the pick. I would rather Toronto pick behind Montreal just to watch Burka on draft day desperately trying to move up, that's always amusing. If Montreal and Toronto finish 15 and 14 who gives a fuck, nobody will be bragging about where their team finished.

I'll bet the Goat or whoever will be able to move Kakaberle at the draft for another pick of some kind, maybe to a team who has to reach the cap floor. As the Chinese say, "may we live in interesting times".

    2. The uncertainty is what will make the next few weeks fun. 15th, 14th or, yikes, higher. Regardless, whomever the leaf picks, he will be a CotU superstar.

For us, Habs fans, the bigger question is will it be The Goat doing the GMing post the last game.

FWIW, i think Timmins' record at the scouting/drafting thing has been very good. I don't blame him for the GMs and consultants (yup, even Bob Gainey) unloading some of his stellar picks for naught.

Geoff Molson needs to invest a few extra dollars (without raising the price of his beer) in the scouting infrastructure. Give Trevor 3-4 more bodies to scour the Canadian Jrs. and European leagues.

    4. No one will take Kaberle off our hands, they better be playing in Hamilton leaving us 10 mill to spend on Zach Parise.

    5. I am agreeing with Steve on this - no one is stupid or desperate enough to take FULC in the off season.

It would be golden to finish above the leaf and could be possible. Not holding my breath however.

Don't know why but I see the Goat at the draft table. Not saying I want him there - I just have a bad feeling he'll be there.

      Have a nice weekend everyone!!

If memory serves, Timmins always makes the pick on draft day usually after the GM says a few words in french and gets booed for it. The GM usually defers to Timmins for the pick and David Fisher in 2006 is the only one he has crapped out on. The Habs do need to hire a couple more scouts for the CHL. I'm currently available to scout the Q, give me a call Geoff. I believe Kakaberle is movable. Gomez not so much. He is the one to go to Hamilton.

  10. CotU sucker sean gordon suggests that the Habs trade a 2nd rounder for Guy Boucher or wait for the Canucks to lose and get Alain Vigneault back into the fold. He also says Monsieur Molson may go Tabula Rasa and wipe the entire org, including Bulldogs people.
