  1. No Clash tribute at the closing, London Calling?

    1. And no Stones and no Zepplin (althought to be fair, they were included in the closing ceremony in Bejing) and way too much Jessie J! I appreciate the "Britpop" discussion as much as the next person but there is entirely way too much crap music that makes it into the mainstream of life in this country. Acts like Jessie J have a shelf life directly linked to whoever it is that has signed them - giving her a spot alongside Queen was just ridiculous - and WTF was she wearing!!?? Speaking of WTF...Moeman - who is the chick in the white top 11 pics down? Gorgeous!

Great start to the week btw!!

  2. The best part of the London closing was all the freaks allowed to let their freak flags fly and spontaneous combustion, nothing freakier.

"He's always on the right side of the puck and he has great offensive instincts - a big steal in the draft for Montreal."

    1. He's a real smart player, and is giving Team Russian a tough time which is a pretty big deal 'cause Team Russia is real fucking good.

  5. Looks like we are headed for Hockey Apocalypse Now. I love hockey like a religion, but more than half the NHL fans are team fans more than hockey fans. If the NHL wants to blow itself up real good, how American of them.

    Woohoo!!

    1. ....He has one more season left on his current deal, so the extension begins with the start of the 2013-14 season.

      Bring PFK!

  11. The Pacioretty deal may be another sharp indicator that the Canadiens will not suffer the cap space gobbled up by Scott Gomez much longer. It may also be a warning shot to PK Subban and his agent that the longterm deals are given to those who have proven themselves beyond their entry-level contracts.

    1. Yeah Patches, now I hope PFK buys into the concept.

    2. It was for only 4.5 mill per. I think you could argue that Patches is at least as important to this team as PFK.

I agree. I think PK has got to prove himself. Sure he has an upside and sure he ate up a lot of minutes, but he also sat in the box at inopportune times and he spends too much time yapping. I don't think he is in a position to sit back and make long term demands. I'm amazed at how I flip flop with this guy.

    4. My main concern is that he becomes to big for his britches and we get into a Nash, Suter, Parise situation.

      Ungoatlike in all dimensions.

      Praised PatCHes. Non-committal on PFK!

    2. "Max is one of the best players at his position in the league," Bergevin told a scrum of reporters on Tuesday. "He's got size, he's a power forward, he's got determination. For us he's a key element in this organization. He's shown Montreal fans that this is the place he wants to play for a long time and be successful, and that's huge."

    3. You gotta believe at $4.5 Patches left potential money on the table. I would like to see the core locked up until TFS contract expires. So for PFK an 8 year contact at $4.5 should be a fair offer, if he is geniue in his desire to play his full carreer in Montreal.

    4. DGMB is playing mind games with PFK with this signing, lets see who goes insane first

      Delete
    5. Although a touCH unwarranted, I'd take DGMB giving PFK! the same longish term deal as PatCHes. Do it before pauline marois creates some fucking stupid fucking law that is stupid.

    6. No problem, if she does, we will just protest in the streets and rinks while wearing our square patches in the colors of bleu/blanc/rouge till she crumbles to the pressure (like the time when she was once education minister). But only if she gets elected of course.

  14. I may rag on the Americans, and they deserve every bit of cloth and more. However, Patches has stunned me with his acceptance of the team concept. Was it fear of injury that drove him to undersell, or love of city that answered the call when the shaved ape rang his bell, we will never know, but hockey fans from coast to coast are now in awe of Patches sensibilties.
