Not looking to be too political, but I'm pretty incredulous that the 'mericans have gone and stuck with the same shit they had before...a wise man once said that doing that and expecting the results to change is just plain dumb (I paraphrase)...but I suppose it was more down to who the actual opponent was rather than who actually won, much like last time. I mean, when the Republicans can't come up with anything better than Dole or Rommney they deserve to be in opposition - that's just my take on it, and it's a take that is validated by the fact that I have lived through the English version of "The Obama Years" when we had our own 10 year socialist sitcom "The Blair Brown Story" run over here. (...ends political rant and nips off to the pub)
The President basically said they would stay the course, end their wars, cut where they can and tax the rich a lttle more. But, when you are in a 16 trillion dollar hole, it doesn't much matter what you do. Three generations from now they might balance the books. Crikey!
So, according to CBC news I listened to earlier, the US government already has in place policies that will cut services and raise taxes to the tune of an 800 billion dollar slash to the US economy. Sooner or later they have to bite the bullet and take their medicine. Obama might take a shit kicking in his last term but it has to be done. Glad I live in Canada.
On Prime Time Sports, McCowan and Brunt were saying the new mayor in Glendale has said they are not a bank for the NHL or the Coyotes anymore. Get ready Quebec City, a team might fall in your laps sooner rather than later.
In case he wasn't clear enough, the new mayor sent a message to the Coyotes right after he was elected.
"Glendale is not your cash register," Weiers said, via the Arizona Republic "We all love the Coyotes and Cactus League but we cannot sacrifice our way of life so they can maintain theirs."
I'm still amazed that the Bell Centre has the most expensive beer among ALL sports.
If even just half the crowd of 21,000+ during a HABS game buy just 1 beer at - I think it's $11-$12 each - then, well I'll let you do the math. That's mucho denero!
No way Geoff supports the lockout crap Buttface imposed.
"Molson Coors’ indignation is not a trifle to the NHL. Sources say that both it and NBC are sufficiently powerful enough to pressure commissioner Gary Bettman’s hand. No doubt the comments of Swinburn made Bettman’s stressful day in meetings all the more enjoyable. Hey, Gary, this Bud's for you."
Hey, moe! I had Hoegarden years ago and didn't really care for it. I've been going to NBLC on Friday's and getting a couple of English, Irish, Scottish or German beers in a large can for the evening's imbibing. I even tried a Czech beer and it was tasty. I don't get drunk anymore...it's all about taste for me now.
Kakaberle they can hide as a 7th defenseman, give him 5 minutes a game.
Even in a shortened season, I don't expect the Habs to be a lot better than they were last year. If they could get Nathan MacKinnon out of it, woah! What a player this kid is going to be. He impressed the hell out of me last night against the Russians. Jonathan Drouin, his linemate would be quite the consolation prize, however.
If all these draft picks turn out as expected, Montreal will be a respectable team within a few short years.
Mats Sundin in Hall of fame? I am not sure I am down with that. Worse guys are in, but did he ever get past the quarterfinals? Pavel Bure, I am all in.
The Maple Leaf Swedish meatball made it to the Conference finals at least once, maybe twice under Pat Quinn. I can still see the aforementioned JR scoring on Eddie Belfour in OT. Sweet.
I'm not sure Bure belongs...he was very good, but won nothing. Did he go the finals in '94 with the Canucks?
I'll take a Y, please.

Will the new team all have to learn French first?
DeleteI suspect Buttface knew this was coming and that's why both sides are talking.

He won the Richard trophy four or five times. He was the most exicting player of his generation. Nuff for me.
DeleteI don't think the Richard trophy was around in Bure's day. Your right though, he was an electrifying player, I'll have to check his stats.
