Looks like the other thread is fucked. Can't get past the first page. It's all Steve's fault.

The Montreal Canadiens need to do themselves a big favour.

Put away the torch. Stop bringing out the Hall of Fame alumni for opening ceremonies. They continue to embarrass themselves and their fans, myself included.

Can you recall in the last few years, all the sweater retirements up to and including the 100th anniversary if they ever won any of those games? I can’t and I don’t think they did.

I stand corrected. They did beat the dastardly bruins 5-1 the night of the 100th anniversary game.

But, a lot of, if not all the sweater reitrement nights ended in defeat.

  5. Little consolation, laffs only scored on the pp.
    Too many penalties.
Wonder if that boarding call will be reviewed.

  6. Somewhere Glenn Healy is cuddling his Ben Scrivens doll and murmuring "You're so awesome...I luv you..." while dreaming of a Toronto Cup parade.

And somewhere Ben Scrivens tripped on his own feet, falling on his ass. Again. And gets a game star for it!

  7. But it's all good in Moeyland. The Habs can suck as much as they want. Meanwhile I have my two favorite boys re-united on the Ducjks. Yup, I'm on that bandwagon.

  11. Remember when I wondered mockingly how Patrick Roy would handle that 11-2 loss to Halifax? HE SENT HOME TWO OF HIS BEST 17 YEAR OLDS Adam Erne and Anthony Duclair. Both of which are draft eligible this year, thus continuing the trend of Patrick Roy fuxing around with his players in their draft year. And they can't be traded or loaned because the deadline has passed. Basically his team is imploding on a 5 game losing streak, and have lost a whole bunch before that, and losing badly. (Though we'll see if this trend continues today against Rouyn-Noranda).

    1. Oh this is hilarious. Apparently Erne and Duclair are back in the lineup today. Patrick Roy's clown show continues.

  14. laffs are still losers:

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Joffrey Lupul to a five-year, $26.25 million contract extension through the 2017-18 season.

Lupul is currently making $4.25 million in the final year of his current deal and would have been eligible to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

I'll never support tanking either, but the sad truth is that this team doesn't need to try to tank. They just don't match up well against many other rosters. So what's the plan? Trade PK and wait to pick up Seth Jones as a replacement? Obviously there's no 'tanking' so that's not the 'plan'. But hey if it happens?
I didn't read the GDT, so this was probably mentioned, but the first ad CBC puts on after the game started, PK's ad about how it's all about putting on the jersey. Yeah, ok then.

I agree with the M about the ceremonies. Give it a rest. Was anybody else actually afraid that the Pocket was going to fall down the stairs? Jeezus, let's give this 90 year old man a 'torch' turn off the lights and have him navigate the Bell Centre's steps. Cripes almighty! As I saw him searching for the next step, I actually thought it might be the end.

Maybe just focus on hockey from now on. Price would no doubt appreciate some help.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I didn't mind the ceremony as it was Game 1 of the new season but maybe put the camera on the ex-Captains instead of making them walk around (although it was kinda dramatic). If there is to be a hand-off give it to Gio and have the entire team skate in behind his lead. gCHuk looked dazed and the hole left behind with no PFK was glaring. Fix it.

    1. If what PFK has said aboit wanting to be a Hab is even remotely true and sincere then he should be kicking the shit out of Don Meehan for not being a apart of that ceremony last night. If he's not sick to his stomach over not being there then he's full of shit and belongs in Columbus!

      Delete
    2. I think Meehan has a lot to do with this. He knows how to play PFK, after all, he's got 30+ years at it.

But I think someone, probably PFK's dad, should have a sit down and talk some sense into him.

I want PFK back, but not for some outrageous contract.
I also don't want to see a repeat of what happened with McDonagh.

  18. I can appreciate the Francophone media's feelings and reactions to the death of their professional colleague Richard Garneau but let's get one thing straight, Mr. Garneau was an exquisite sports commentator/analyst/etc. but where he differed with the BRs and RTs and DCs of this world is that he wasn't a bigot/racist/xenophobe. He was always a class act and reported sports in a very humane/human way. Like the Gallivans and Lecalaviers (and others of similar ilk), his kind is and will be missed. The bile spewed by the BRs and RTs and DCs won't.

Clearly since NBCS is grasping at straws to find some historical facts in a season barely 2 days old, Mike Smith is the first goalie to go apeshit.

  22. Now, assuming that Subban signs at some point, the same guy who was ripping him on RDS is his coach, which could be part of the problem here. Technically, Subban isn’t a holdout, because he doesn’t have a contract. In truth, as a restricted free agent without other offers, the effect of his absence is the same as a holdout.

  23. Wow, Geoff actually gave out a free beer!

Price expects the Plekanec call won’t be the last of its kind this season, but he laughed at the idea that a spray of ice shavings is enough to rattle a big-league goalie.

“If you’re that mentally weak,” he said, “you shouldn’t be in the NHL.”

Looking forward to seeing former QMJHL star and Saint John Sea Dog Jonathan Huberdeau and former Hab Alex Kovalev play for the Florida Panthers tonight against the Senaturds. Moey's got her backup team (Quack!) with Saku and big Shelly, now I've got mine.

Don't forget the lasso with that stopwatch.....and a notebook.

Send Kraperle and Cube to Hamilton and bring up TinMan and N8, they couldn't be any worse. Let all the young'uns grow together.

Kidnap Huberdeau tomorrow night and hide him in the bowels of the Bell Centre until the Panthers plane leaves, the Habs can send them a care package later.

On Hockey Central @ Noon, Kipper said any smart team would target Vodkov and take him out. Without him and Pernell Karl the Habs would be fucked. He must have texted Kadri before the game last Saturday night. Then they were wondering when somebody would offer sheet PK, maybe Nonis was listening? All is right in the universe, the Tranna media spends their day thinking of ways to fuck Montreal.

Maybe MT2.0 is telling GMMB he don't need PK, he was a huge critic last season on L'Anti-Habs chambre apparently.

  37. Fraser answers question about PleXXE`s snowing penalty.

But this is what really caught my attention.

Here's a must-share story I witnessed firsthand at the game which demonstrates the true heart of a hockey fan. At the end of the first period, a 32-year-old unemployed iron worker from the Atlantic City Union exited the complimentary seat he was given and was about to enter the concourse area.

Wearing the "Giroux" captain's jersey the fan purchased that very morning in hopes of getting it signed by his favourite player someday was a dead giveaway as to his team loyalty. This hockey fan was about to walk past a mother and her little girl (age 5) when he noticed that the child was wearing a surgical mask over her mouth.

The absence of hair on her little head along with her look was an indication that the child was a cancer patient. The blue collar fan then paused and asked the little girl if she was a Claude Giroux fan? As the child nodded he removed the brand new Giroux jersey, handed it to the little girl and said, "You are an angel and I would like to give this jersey to you."

The little girl beamed with excitement and commented to her mother that the jersey had the new "C" on the front. The good Samaritan Flyers fan simply walked away with a tear in his eye. The name of the fan is being withheld at his request because like most acts of kindness, he did not want to bring attention to himself. I felt the need to bring attention to the act of one terrific hockey fan and human being.`
