The Artiste™ flies into YUL ~ Habs vs. FLA Preview and Open Thread

~ ~ ~
Game 2of48 ~ Our 0-1 Habs face-off vs. a reborn Kovy and his 1-0 (will be updated after tonight's Sens game) Panthermates. Lotsa talk about how we might miss him or maybe his mad(dening) skills (creative Dude has as many points in one game as the entire CH, so does some kid named Huberdoh!). Regardless, I'm expecting the Bell Centre faithful to give him a nice CHeer. He'll smile. No looking back as we have a new #27 named Alex, gCHuk to us FHFers. Where will he be lined up and is this his 2nd of just 5 games? Only MT2.0 and DGMB know.

Likely starters are Give-me-more-than-one-fucking-goal-TFS™ vs. the-balding-and-don't-fucking-snow-me-Theo. Official NHL Preview here. Jovo is still playing? Is Bryan McCabe?

Still no PFK. Baseball's Spring training starts really soon. Maybe he'll be a Jays before Meehanmyshadow sees an offer sheet (shit!) he likes (think agent %age).

19h30 puck drop. RDS. KMP on the Anti-CH show as my heart can't take watching it.

Habs are lead by the torCH carrying (just read JT) Gio and need to shake the rust off Saturday night's opening ceremony.

No more tears, just GYFHG!

Lego is a disappointment to me. I don't think he's ever going to be much better than what we've seen. PFK should bring a Toews or Huberdeau type player if MT2.0 is so inclined.

    4. Every day we learn a little more about our Steve! As for Eller, I've stated my case many times. I'm not "anti-Lego" I am "anti-floater". I said last week, if he gets stuck in, forechecks, BACKCHECKS, and generally shows some pride in being priviliged enough to wear the CH then I'll be happy. It's only one game in so too soon to judge...but Saturday didn't do loads to convince me otherwise - then again, no one else was really on fire. So let's wait a bit longer

Fraser answers question about PleXXE`s snowing penalty.

But this is what really caught my attention.

Here's a must-share story I witnessed firsthand at the game which demonstrates the true heart of a hockey fan. At the end of the first period, a 32-year-old unemployed iron worker from the Atlantic City Union exited the complimentary seat he was given and was about to enter the concourse area.

Wearing the "Giroux" captain's jersey the fan purchased that very morning in hopes of getting it signed by his favourite player someday was a dead giveaway as to his team loyalty. This hockey fan was about to walk past a mother and her little girl (age 5) when he noticed that the child was wearing a surgical mask over her mouth.

The absence of hair on her little head along with her look was an indication that the child was a cancer patient. The blue collar fan then paused and asked the little girl if she was a Claude Giroux fan? As the child nodded he removed the brand new Giroux jersey, handed it to the little girl and said, "You are an angel and I would like to give this jersey to you."

The little girl beamed with excitement and commented to her mother that the jersey had the new "C" on the front. The good Samaritan Flyers fan simply walked away with a tear in his eye. The name of the fan is being withheld at his request because like most acts of kindness, he did not want to bring attention to himself. I felt the need to bring attention to the act of one terrific hockey fan and human being.

  5. I can observe. I have observed some other NHL games over the past weekend. Neither team looked like either the Leaf or our Glourix. They all seemed comfortable with the concept of a puck a stick and putting the puck into the net using the stick. There is no fucking excuse, no excuses, for not being able to take or receive a pass at the NHL level. NO EXCUSE. You may not have the hockey sense to know where on the ice you execute this basic funtion. Its like toliet training I guess. You do not shit in front of your goalie. You do not piss away a chance in the other teams end. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

PFK thinks he is Drew Fuckin Doughty. Somebody should remind him that he is a two year old newbie who anchored the worst power play in the NHL last year. Played monster minutes on a last place team and obviously comes from a long line of yippy women. I have lost my patience with him. We are rebuilding, trade him for a D and picks. boom done.

Well, maybe Don Meehan thinks PFK is Drew Fuckin' Doughty. Chester, that is actually an excellent analogy of PFK. I wouldn't hesitate to move him for another D or a high pick. Do we want a crowd pleaser or a winning team? I know what I want.

It may also be time to cash in Lego as well, gCHuk is the big center of the future anyway. In 2009 Gainey launched his 5 year plan with Gomereaha, Gio and Squid. It crashed and burned last year and now is the time to start over and it has with gCHuk, Collberg in the pipeline along with TinTin and N8. It will probably get worse before it gets better but that's life in Buttman's salary cap world. Good luck GMMB. Fuck you MT2.0.

  28. Mr. Garneau was for many years the legendary voice of the Canadiens on La Soirée du hockey, and in more recent years played an integral role hosting many of the on-ice ceremonies related to the team's Centennial celebrations alongside Dick Irvin.

The entire Canadiens organization wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to the Garneau family.

The Canadiens organization will pay tribute to Mr. Richard Garneau Tuesday before the game vs the Florida Panthers.

  29. Is there a logical explanation for humiliating Lego? no, but there are weasal words out there.
MT2.0 needs to make a franchise worthy decison on gCHuck. The boy gotta play some center. Superplexx is a God, DDD, he is french, Lego, he took away Halak. So its all politics Lego, suck it up, consider yourself a taxpayer.

I will not waste anyones time deconstructing the need to see gCHuck in action argument.

    1. Steve, instead of this relentless touting of Lego, why don't you use the comments section to motivate his ass. Get him to see that wearing the bleu blanc rouge is an honour he needs to cherish and earn. He repays that honour by working hard on every shift. That is all I ask. That is all every Habs fan around the world asks of him. He's earned is place on the team, now he has to earn his place in our hearts. He doesn't have to score 4 goals every game. He has to put in a decent effort on every shift. That is all he has to do. Skate hard, work for the puck whenever he can, use his noodle to break up plays or make a great pas to a teammate. Whatever he does, he has to try on every shift. If he does that - I'm wanting him on my team. That is all I ask. I want him to try!

They also said this would be 'agent suicide', though I'm not sure what that means. Maybethat Meehan would be negotiating in bad faith?

“I’m going to go out there and do the things that have gotten me this far,” said Gallagher, who will be playing on a line with Brandon Prust and fellow rookie Alex Galchenyuk. “I’ll try to use my speed, go hard to the net and try to create some space for myself. Gally and I have been rooming together and we’re pretty close and Prust is out there as our baby-sitter.”

  61. its tough to win something, thats why they call it a prize. If you look at sports in general and hockey in particular its so unpredictable. So Lego or PFK at this point are meaningless. Will be wanna be maybe. TFS is not yet or maybe never will be that gamewinner that takes an ordinary team all the way.
ERWB, Giant and Vodkov are not going to be here next time we raise the cup.
So lets blow this mutherfucker up.
Lego you keep to 25 unless you get something better in return. PFK, if you want a stanley cup sign at four mill or fuck off. But for the pups, things have to change. Hockey has a fucked up culture, a prima donna bullshit game. If you got a player who is inconsitant but brilliant, do not throw away the baby with the bath water. AK46 may be dumb as a toaster and may have more vodka than blood in his viens, but he could play. He made RBQ look like a junior. Bobby Hull said it best, who needs a coach.

  92. I was here, just trying to catch my breath if you know what I mean. Okay a killer app, your phone tells you who is on the ice. Yeah its a magic trick beating up on a bunch of surfers playing the next game in twenty four hours. But we are dominating and gCHuck BG and Prust look like they can punch the ticket.
