Because it's the Sens, they were promised to not start earlier than Wednesday. Wednesday is Rihanna. So Thursday. Friday, Saturday, Sunday is fucking Marie-Mai (wtf) and apparently the NHL is like "lol what no we're not waiting for Monday for Game 2". So according to Ian Mendes it'll be Thursday-Friday (Marie-Mai moves a day) and Monday-Tuesday. If that's true FUCK YOU GARY.

Fuck shit stupid NHL make the Saturday game in the afternoon or something. Double back-to-backs (even one back-to-back) is SHIT.

And according to Bartlett: Game 1 Thursday, Game 2 Friday at Bell Centre. Game 3 on Sunday and Game 4 Tuesday in Ottawa. This looks to be the real schedule. STILL STUPID.

      Game 1 Thurs
      Game 2 Fri
      Game 3 Sun
      Game 4 Tues

After realizing that the Sens just played back-to-back this weekend and a concert at the Bell Centre on Wed, I guess this makes sense. Good rest for our guys.

  4. TSN year end power rankings.

Bruins- (who lost 7/9 to end the season) #3
Leafs- (who lost 4/6 to end the season)#7
    Habs - #fucking 10.

So, TSN believes the team that finished 1st in the toughest division in hockey, 2nd in the East and 4th overall is barely in the top third of teams. A team that hasn't been able to beat the two worst teams in the East this month is 3rd best, and a team that couldn't even muster home ice is top 7.

It's just hockey, it's just some meaningless rankings. But these assholes really should be ashamed of themselves. It's just embarrassing for their own dignity and reputation.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sorry...what reputation is that exactly...?You mean the reputation they have as leafans? Nothing to be proud of! Never consider this to be a valid chart of any sort.

      Delete
    2. You're right of course. It's better to laugh at the lengths they go to justify this shit. On Boston #3:
"L.A. won 15 of their last 31 games last season, Boston won eight of their last 18 in 2011 and Chicago won nine of their last 18 in 2010, so the last three Cup winners haven't been dominant late in the regular season."

      Toronto #7:
"here's another team that gets outshot, but relies on winning the percentages."

Then Anaheim #6 (who has done much better than either of them):
" 8-9-2 in their last 19 games, the Ducks were winning big on the percentages early in the season, but it's not as easy to keep relying on above average goaltending and finishing while getting outshot."

So, it's terrible to have a late season slump...unless you're Boston. And it's terrible to rely on 'percentages'...unless you're Toronto.

Don't pull a muscle reaching so hard, guys.

  6. Let me just take a moment here to reflect. I remember watching the first DGMB presser where he talked about the pride he wanted to restore in wearing the CH on your chest. I agreed then that it was vital but never expected the results to come so fast. And I say "results" even though they haven't won anything yet. Still...1st place in the Northeast Division, 2nd in the Eastern Conference, and 4th in the league overall...no small numbers there. This is a team that has a lot of potential as we start the second season... Potential Norris Trophy Winner, Potential Calder Trophy Winner, Potential Masterton Trophy Winner, Potential Stanley Cup Winners! There - I said it. No excuses - Just Fuckin' win!

    Go Habs Go!!

@Orange - why even bother looking at those bullshit rankings, they mean absolutely nothing. Maybe I'm old and cynical but whoever holds the trophy at the end of the year is King of the Hill. That TSN/ESPN fantasy shit is just that; fanboys sitting around jacking off looking at hockey stats.

I like the Habs chances against Ottawa, they should be able to out score them, but it won't be easy. I'll predict a 7 game series.

  9. The way I look at it, the HNIC dorks would be talking about the Laffs for the first round of the playoffs if they did not make it, so this is just the same thing except the Broons can humiliate the Laffs and this will create a great dilemma in the bullshit universe of HNIC because the the Broons are the second in line for their love-crush.

Theyh wanted the Habs to play the Laffs in the first round so they would not have to choose between the Laffs and the Broons. In their minds they both could win. Now, one of their crushes will have to be beat out in the first round.

It will be fun to watch this series, just to see their confusion....

  11. I think I may have said this last thread. I think Habs in 6. Win the first 2 at home, get lulled to sleep by the Sens' defense in games 3+4+5 (but win G4) and then take them out in G6.

Yeah, Ottawa has played well defensively, but they simply can't score. Their leader has 12 goals. The Habs have 5 guys with more than that. As long as Price and our D are somewhat competent, I believe we can win 2-1 or 3-2 games.

Sorry, but while defence is important you can't win a 7 game series with 4 guys who average a goal every 4-5 games as your firepower. It's not like the Habs are uncompetent on D either (well, until April anyway...I have faith it'll return).

    1. Also want to add that this is the first series since probably '94 that I actually, genuinely, believe the Habs will win. Not that I didn't have faith before, but I would be surprised if they didn't win it (not being cocky, I wouldn't be shocked, I'd just be surprised). Even when they got 1st a few years ago I was still ambivalent about the broons, and the same with the Phlyers the next round. But this time, 4-5-6-7 games, I'm pretty sure the Habs will pull it off.

  12. The Ottawa Senators are a fine and distinguished opponent whom I greatly admire. They have super character and tend to play with gracious sportsmanship. Lets not forget about the fine management team and coaches that put together this years version. I look forward to a spirited series, and while I hope Montreal wins, I will bear no malice to any victorious team in this well run and entirely fair league. Yes lets give some props to the leadership of Gary Bettman, and the unbiased judgement of Colin Campbell.

    3. Yes Moeman, according to the site which has a credible facade and is aptly named 2013 NHL mock draft the Montreal Canadiens are two draft spots below his projected 25ft projected placement. Should all the parameters and expectations of this groups groupthink prove correct the rights to the gentleman in question would be acquired by the Flames organization, led by the brilliant unorthodoxy of Jay Feaster. A very clever man who recently made Pittsburgh a punters pick to win the Stanley Cup. Should we dare to enter into negotiations to acquire these rights, is a question I would leave with those who have a level of expertise I can only imagine.

    4. According to the same website which by appearances and historical record should be given a large measure of creditably Jonathon Druion will fall with the Panthers sphere of control for a not insignificant time period. There he will join the ever coveted Master Huberdeau in a stable of unprecedented pure laine hockey players. This situation is not even close to being a dichotomy for Canada's only world class professional sports team. Respecting the integrity and professional guidance of the superlatative NHL team based in Manhatten allows only one outcome. The finest French Canadian Hockey players in the world should have a low expectation of playing in Quebec let alone Canada. It is blasphemy to give any credence to the economically correct but still tired talking point that the success of Canadian teams allows failing teams to keep the ice surface frozen.
Its foolhardy to suggest that having more teams playing in areas where hockey is not part of the culture is a superior plan to expanding where hockey is a religion. Let us not be zealots.

  26. The media, both in Canada and south of the border, is full of guys who spent their childhoods watching their favourite team get manhandled by the Habs. There isn't just a dislike for the Canadiens out there, there is abject hatred and disrespect. Even when the Habs won the East a few years back they were saying there was no way they'd get past the broons. There's rooting for your own team, and then there's going out of your way to disrespect the fans of a certain team that your network is paid to cover.

That's why I really didn't want a Habs-leaf series. I knew they could take the dopes, but the media onslaught would have just been too much. And I don't think the Habs themselves need that sort of hatred on an everyday level. Let the leaf and broons beat each other to death for the Romans who want blood as entertainment, the Sens and Habs are going to play hockey.

It's all such fucking bullshit anyway, who cares what those idiots predict they don't know anymore than we do. They are just filling airtime. I'm ashamed to admit I watched TSN's draft lottery, such drama, those poor bastards (the GM's) having to sit and watch Boy Wonder Bill Daley open fancy envelopes and some hot chick dressed to the 9's putting them on a board. Then I listened to Duthie's cast of clowns do their predictions of the Habs/Sens series. Same crap, the 7 seed is favoured over the No. 2 seed because of some puny Swede defenceman and a Price's perceived struggle.

I liked what LEGO said after the leaf defeat, what happens on the weigh scale or in the gym means sweet fuck all on the ice.

I'm not going to predict any winner, but I expect all the games will very close and the Habs will be playing tough defence in front of Price. I also expect that LEGO's line will be a factor in a positive way. He's been on a mission the last few games.

Me too the M. I try to stick to my 'top 4'. Hawks/Kings in the west and Habs/Pens in the east. I truly believe the Habs will make the conference final. But playoff pools generally are decided on which position you draft. I may end up going with Caps/ABBOT* and Canucks/Blues.
*ABBOT - Anybody But Boston Or Toronto.
First pick and I'm taking Patrick Kane. That and a dime will get me a phone call 30 years ago.

When I get into a pool the first thing I do is cross out the Boston and wretched leaf stats. I'd rather pluck out my eye than cheer for those fuckers to score.
