  2. I posted earlier that I hoped the Habs wouldn't have to face NINE players, but alas.....
20 TWENTY minutes in the penalty box!

  13. Blow 3 goal 3rd period lead. Don't even get a shot (barely get the zone) on a 4 min PP to end the game. That's not an NHL caliber team. Maybe if they were playing the Sharks after playing last night. Not the fucking Canes with a night off. Glad to see Cube and DDD get pretty much that entire PP on ice. Well, Happy 2014 everyone. Time to get drunk alone with HGTV and the dogs.

  14. This has to end...until eMpTy2 is gone the Cu will remain a distant memory. If blowing a 3 goal lead in 1 period doesn't wake Geoff the fuck up then nothing will - something has to change right away!! Someone call me when it does - I feel so fucking disgusted at this I am in serious need of a rest - so I am gone until someone besides the fans decide to start giving a shit. I love you guys but this is just too much shit to start a new year with. BE good, God bless, Go habs Go!

  15. I know it's frustrating and their PP sucks lately (favourites get pp time) but in all fairness it's hard to win a game when you spend an entire period in the penalty box. Before the zebras went wild, Habs were controlling the game.

Happy New Year, everyone and Go Habs Go!

  16. They changed Gallagher's penalty from 'unsportsmanlike conduct' to 'abuse of an official - bench'
    Now he's a marked man.

Wow is right. Glad this game wasn't covered on my TV. Reading the comments here and over at HI/O I'd say there is a lynch mob out looking for eMpTy or the refs at least. Even Boone is flabbergasted. Time for some personnel changes.

Happy New Year all and Good Night!

I think he will be gone before the 2014-15 season, no matter what happens the rest of this season. Hey! They fired Al McNeil after he won a Cup...and Jean Perron too, just to show they weren't playing favourites. Guy Boucher is warming up in the wings.

  31. btw congrats patCHes for making the U.S. team. Great read on ESPN about the history / process of naming the squad - http://espn.go.com/olympics/hockey/story/_/id/10195703/how-us-hockey-team-bound-sochi-olympics-was-named

  32. MONTREAL – Looking at the banners and photographs commemorating past legends such as Georges Vezina, Bill Durnan, Jacques Plante and others around the Bell Centre, it is easy to see that the Montreal Canadiens franchise has been gifted with an abundance of extraordinary goaltenders through its history. Still, the team’s current netminders are performing at a level never-before seen in the franchise’s 104 years.

  34. Nice comment by Maritime Ron over at HIO. PFK is being misused by Habs. Sure pass the puck quickly, but when you have a player like PFK who can carry the puck over the blue line instead of passing it to a forward who dumps it in, you gotta be smart.

Is anyone getting concerned about Subban’s place on Team Canada?

After reading the terrific ESPN linked article on how Team USA/Coaching chose their Olympic team and what was important, some ugly dots are starting to connect.

After reading all the quotes and deciphering the innuendo, at best PK looks like he will be # 4 on the Right Side (7th-8th Dman) and at worst, could actually be left off the team.

In the whole process, there has been zero love spoken or shown to the Habs reigning Norris holder by either Team Canada management ( Yzerman-Holland-Lowe(?)-Armstrong) or its Coaching Staff ( Babcock-Hitchcock-Julien)

What is continuously heard for the choice of Dmen is ” need to be responsible for 200 feet-need to be trust worthy-not prone to devastating mental errors”

So how could Subban be the 7th-8th Dman, or even left off the team?

Subban’s competition on the Right Side:

    – Drew Doughty: Olympic Gold Medal/Stanley Cup and LA Kings Top Dman and PP QB and Top 3 PK.
    – Shea Weber: Olympic Gold Medal and Preds PP QB and Top Unit PK.
    – Pietrangelo: Blues are one of the best teams in the NHL and he is their Top Dman playing 1st Unit PP and PK. Coached by Team Canada Head Coach Babcock right hand man Ken Hitchcock who will lobby hard for his own guy.
    – Seabrook: Olympic Gold and Duncan Keith partner that brings familiarity and trust, plays Top 3 PP and Top 4 PK.

    – Subban: Very good 5X5 (not better than any of the above in 5X5), PP QB, yet is the #5 man on the Habs for Penalty Kill minutes, and only recently was he playing in the final minutes of a close game.

*** Can the Team Canada Management/Coaching staff look beyond the choices of Coach Therrien when it comes to ‘trust’?
    That becomes the big question!

The Team Canada coaching staff has also stated they want the puck moved quickly up to the highly skilled and fast forwards. They don’t want a Dman rushing the puck and being caught out of position….

The Power Play? Will the coaching staff and highly skilled players like Crosby-Stamkos-Tavares-Toews-Getzlaf…want a power play centered around Subban teeing it up and firing away as do the Habs?
Does Subban have an advantage over Weber-Doughty-Pietrangelo in that area?
