  18. Upset it speed skating. Poland puts out Norway. This is good for Canada, because they face Korea next, but if they lose they will go for bronze against Poland instead of Norway (assuming the Dutch beat them both, and there's no reason not to).

  37. Congratulations Sweden you play good hockey, you manufacture world class fantasies for both sexes. Without you my house would be a location for hoarders. For those that know Splash you provided the context for one of John Candys greatest lines. You put the nine iron in Elle Norgens hands. You made me at 16 feel ashamed that my cardio profile was not equal to your 70 year olds. You made safety sexy and non conformity comfortable with Volvo and Saab. Most telling when everyone was telling you, or even threatening you to kill the juice, you drank deeply.

So I wish and hope and pray to the GSM you shrug off the assassination of your president, and find yourself.

Would it not be ironic if two nations lead by facists competed for the gold medal in hockey at the most fascist games since 1936. If you think I am out of line, bullwhip pussy riot one more time.

  41. If allowed by the powers that be, I might win a gold medal in commenting today. For me is pure brilliance, against me is the reformulated KGB for which we have no name, and the good old NSA. The question I have to ask myself before every keystroke is " punk do you feel lucky, have I fired five shots or six" In the munitions of logic that is relevant if I have intellectual shotgun.

Sports is pretty well the direct port to the lizard brain. Yes it is an excellent argument for rule by femmes. Is there a women in the world aside from Ann Coulter that would have spent fifty billion on the Olympics? No they would have spent it on child care. Why, because its not a trite phrase, children are the future of the world. Develop better children and volia, we have a better world.

  48. Whether you go with golds first, or total medals, Canada is in 2nd now.

It also doesn't look like anyone's coming close to Canada's 14 golds from Vancouver. Actually, it looks like no one will get over 30 medals (US got 37 in Vancouver). People are calling it the "Parity Olympics". That's nice.

    ReplyDelete
  49. There is a time to get out a lot of venom. I think here I too advantage. The reason why, Canada vs the USA is a sacred ground, not going to mess with Karma on that score. I can only say what I said before, supersoldiers do not like heat.

  51. KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia — The Italian Olympic Committee says bobsledder William Frullani has been kicked out of the Sochi Games after a positive doping test.

In a statement Friday, Italy’s governing body CONI says it was informed by the International Olympic Committee that Frullani came up positive for the substance dymetylpentylamine in a test taken in the Olympic Village on Feb. 18.

CONI says Frullani asked for a backup test that was taken Friday and “confirmed the positive result, resulting in his exclusion from the Italian delegation.”

CONI adds that it replaced Frullani on its four-man bobsled team with Samuele Romanini.

  52. Well Canada hit 29's 23-25 medal count. Some bitter losses and almost podium finishes but maybe the coolest thing about our Team Canada is the true Canadian humility of our compatriots from coast to coast. To coin one of my favourites lines from an Olympic ad, 'we all play for Canada'. Love that line!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Way to go Canada! Another 2 gold medals and it's not even 5 o clock in London!! FUCK and YES! Now let's get back it and get to the gold medal hockey game. That's what we've come here for after all.

And Moeman - Amazing Golden SF!!

  54. Interesting to note that Jacobs' rink had to win just to get into the Roar of the Rings in December, then went undefeated there.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Not to get ahead of things, especially judging by how it's gone for them so far, but there's still short track tonight, too.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Russian short tracker's first name: Semen. teehee.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Everyone's falling down in the first two heats. No Canadians yet.

    ReplyDelete

  59. Ovie delays joining the Caps as his father has heat surgery, all the best to both.

  60. So there was a bump but Drolet doesn't advance? Short track is a mystery sometime

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, when she got bumped she wasn't in the top 2. However, the Brit should have gotten DQed, moving her on anyway. Short track is always a mystery.

      Delete
    2. i know the rule but that kills me. the move the DQ'd skater made directly affected Drolet's possibility of getting into the top 2. that should allow advancement as well. ah well screw it, our curlers our double golders

  61. Our girl got totally screwed, but doesn't move on.

    ReplyDelete
  62. But Maltais advances. nice work

    1. Yeah, but she set an OR in the qualifications, yet her heat got the extra skater which makes it harder. And the extra skater was the Dutch girl who is pretty good, although she did just skate in the long track pursuit earlier tonight (so props to her).

I watch a lot of short track, and I have never seen skaters from one country fall so much. I don't like blaming athletes, but this is pathetic. I'm not angry because they don't get medals, but this just makes Canadian short trackers look terrible.

It's like if our hockey guys consistently scored on themselves. Lose the race. But stay on your feet, FFS.

      Delete
    3. i agree. i love short track, but this is embarrassing. you can say "it's short track anything happens" but most of the falls have been straight falls, i.e. no contact. that shouldn't happen

This morning a section of Waller Street collapsed. Teams from the City of Ottawa and the Rideau Transit Group are on the scene to stabilize the site. Members of the University’s Physical Resources Service conducted a first inspection of the site this morning. No damage to uOttawa buildings, including Arts, Simard, Tabaret and Desmarais, has been reported. All our buildings are completely safe to work in. We will continue to monitor the situation and work with the city and the Rideau Transit Group, which is responsible for LRT construction.
