Might be time for an engine rebuild in that CHarger.
Still, I got no problem with Blanche filling in between MoeNman and CHip'.
Going to miss this game as Mrs. Maritimer and I will be attending the Saint Malachy's Memorial High School musical "The Drowsy Chaperone" where our youngest son is the Assistant Stage Manager. We get to watch him move props around in between sets.
The M, as a volunteer backstage hand for most of my kids plays for about 5 years now, I commend you going and cheering him on. It's no easy task to move on and of stage in blackout conditions, carrying heavy objects and trying not to be caught by the spotlight that announces the next scene. Enjoy the show!
Blanche wont let the side down...as long as the coach has the sense to keep the lines intact....and this brings me to my point of the day...WTF is up with LEGO?
I re-watched the entire game last night and I can't express how disappointed I am with what I saw from Lego. I can't remember which Avs goal it was right now - possible the 3rd - but he just floated around, gave up the puck very easily and ultimately the Avs scored a goal that TFS had little chance on. There was no drive in his skating - much more of a coast. He had a few shots but there was very little effort expended as far as I could see. He would wave his stick at times to feign a checking motion but it was half assed and ineffective. It's like he has lost interest again - very much like last season. We know he has the goods - but he's not bringing his A game very often these days.
And lastly - I thought that the guys on TSN calling the game, Dave Reid in particular - were surprisingly good. I don't think I heard the l word all night. And Dave Reid (I think it's Dave...?) was pretty on the mark when he talked about the lax d by the Habs. As I don't usually get the TSN feed I was pleasantly surprised. Is this the norm for Habs games or did they have a blip?
Re: Lego, there's a good reason he's -15. Got a feeling he'll be playing somewhere else next season.
Lastly, Dave Randorf and Dave Reid...for tsn'ers they are very fair. The only time you would hear the "L" word is if they were playing them, but those aren't regional games...the big boys want those ones.
Charger, the iconic movie car for cool guys. Nicest one is Blades'. But seriously my sixties car is the early GTO. Before orange and before The Judge. K, lets blow the BJ's ... Go Habs.
KmaXXX - the few games on TSN Habs I've seen, Randorf and Reid have been nothing but professional. It would seem they've been able to avoid the suckitude extruding from the rest of TSN.
Noted Hab killer Umberger is a healthy scratch tonight. That's good.
Weird - News 95.7 is a local talk radio station owned by Rogers. They play the HockeyCentral at Noon show at 1pm between talk shows. The weird thing is they also air all Montreal Canadiens games. I don't often listen to the radio for games, but I was driving Tuesday night when I remembered this, switched over and sure enough it was (i think) BELL MONTREAL CANADIENS HOCKEY! I didn't listen too long before I got home, but the guys doing the game didn't sound great...mighta been leafys. I forget what they were complaining about - something a Hab did though. Any rate, good to know the option's there in a pinch.
Reider is an OK guy, he was a broon briefly, don't think he was ever a leafer but played with Carbo in Dallas and in Colorado with that powerhouse team. I think he won a Cup in Colorado.
Oh fuck he was a leafer 1988-91 and di win a Cup in Dallas (1999) and Colorado (2001). Still, he is very professional, no leaf or broon bias that I can detect.
Back to hockey, as someone who watched their first TSN-Habs broadcast this past weekend, I would like to add the Ransdorf-Reid combo was excellent. Solid play by play, solid analysis, no hint of TSN-dot bias at all.
Interesting, with the new playoff format you could have a wildcard team from one division cross over into a division and they could potentially take the title of the division they crossed over to.
I think once the regular season ends, the division leaders are the division winners. Then its a mash-up for the East and West titles with those potential crossovers. If the playoffs started today for example, I think the wretched leaf would play the Pens & BJ's play the broons. And Habs/Bolts and Philthies/Rags...but who cares. If I'm not mistaken that is. Which according to miy family is fairly frequently.
Oh, and I don't know that much about NCAA bball, but I know this - I'm not winning the Yahoo Billion Dollar bracket - DAMN YOU HARVARD! And it turns out Jennifer Lawrence and me both picked the Cardinals to win! I had no idea they won last year...apparently. http://www.givemesport.com/444941-hollywood-star-jennifer-lawrence-backing-louisville-in-march-madness

Well, kudos to the Habs who spent the game killing penalties and didn't let BJ's cash one. TFS was excellent. Can't score when all you're doing is having to kill 8 penalties.
It kind of irks me that RDS says the Habs were surprised by the bj's speed. You'd think it was their first game with the them this year and Habs won the previous ones. ....and STFU PJ
-The refs were ridiculous. Three separate times the Habs were pressing and I said to myself, "And now for a Montreal penalty", and three times it actually happened. THREE TIMES! Oh well, it pads the PK stats.
-Lego...I'm far from an expert, but try not to shoot directly at the goalie on a PS.
-Vanek has opened up a can of whop ass (scoring wise) and I hope it carries through to Saturday.
-Price was great all game, I'm totally NOT blaming him for that last goal. BUT those are the ones you have to have for your team. Good timely saves make "great" goalies.
-You work so hard all game, kill of 8 penalties (half were BS), 2 5on3s, and Tiny gives away the puck with 3 minutes left to give the win to the BJs. So deflating. If that was PK it'd be front page over at CBCTSN, there'd be screaming videos about it and HalfMT would sit him for 2 games.
-Have to win these ones. The next two on the road in Toronto and Boston won't be any easier.
-Seeing kidG hobble to the bench stopped my heart for a moment, but then on replay when I realized it was a skate issue I laughed and laughed.
Saw Tinordi's post game, boy does he fell like shit. I'm sure all players who cost the game feel like crap and any coach knows that, but I don't like mt's double standard. ie:PFK, Coachless, says the team played a bad game - except for TFS who gave them a chance to stay in the game. I'm no expert but I thought if some of the non-calls on the bj's would were called it have given the habs a chance to score some goals.
Well, I think this game proves the classic, "It all evens up in the end". Some of the calls, or non-calls, could have gone against the Habs in the last couple of games (specifically the Sens game). Not saying those were 'bad' calls, but they could have easily gone the other way.
As for my comment about Price, I am certainly not blaming him for the loss. He's the reason they were so close. Although everything I'm reading tells me the BJs dominated the game. I mean, they did because they basically had a PP for 1/3 of the game, but when it was 5on5 I thought MTL had lots of chances and it was quite open. I didn't watch the first two periods that closely, maybe I saw it wrong.
Colombus will be fighting for a position in the standings, can't take the lightly.

That said I think Reid is an ex laff/broon if I'm not mistaken, so don't put too much trust in him.

ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for players who never get beyond leafland...if they are lucky enough to get out, I will give them a chance.
ReplyDeleteThe TSN regional Habs channel is a pleasure to watch. Too bad there are only 30 games broadcasted in a season.
ReplyDeleteAre those lost in the new snet contract?

ReplyDeleteOn nights like this I yearn for Olympic hockey. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteMake it 7/7 on the PK boys! Fuck the refs.
ReplyDeleteBJ's should have has a penalty there. Refs are playing tonight.
ReplyDeleteLooked exactly like the holding penalty that Weaver took against Foligno in the 2nd.

ReplyDeleteToo funny, TFS has to look at the ref to make him blow his fucking slow whistle.
ReplyDelete5-4 TAM, one minute left.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the penalty for delay of game on the BJ covering the puck?
ReplyDeleteWings with at least a point going to OT with the Pens.
ReplyDeleteAll these penalties remind me of opening night (I think it was) with the leaf when they spent more than an entire period on the PK.
ReplyDeleteGod love 'em, but the 4th line in a 2-2 game with 5 minutes left?
ReplyDeleteNorth Dakota State - Oklahoma going to overtime. amazing game
ReplyDeletewait, what?

ReplyDeleteFFS
ReplyDeleteFuck. Tintin why?
ReplyDelete40-24 SOGs for Cbus
ReplyDeleteDingbat penalties. Cripes.
ReplyDeleteDING - could be the break we need!
ReplyDeleteStoopid game.
ReplyDeleteAh well, CBS and wings both with 2 points, now 2 and 3 points shy of the wrethed leaf respectively, each with 2 games in hand.
ReplyDeleteSo now I'll listen to TSN690 to hear how we're DOOMED! But that will all change the next time they win.
ReplyDeleteWell, kudos to the Habs who spent the game killing penalties and didn't let BJ's cash one. TFS was excellent.
ReplyDeleteCan't score when all you're doing is having to kill 8 penalties.
Tough lesson for Tinordi. We can say they deserved at least a point but SOG differential tells the tale.
ReplyDeleteSo we know what would happen to PK if he committed that error. Anything going to happen to Tinordi? Will he sit next game?
DeleteHe was responsible for a goal last game I think and nothing happened to him, he's not PFK who is not even allowed to breathe too hard.
DeleteIt kind of irks me that RDS says the Habs were surprised by the bj's speed. You'd think it was their first game with the them this year and Habs won the previous ones.

ReplyDeleteWhat did I miss?
ReplyDeleteGreat show at the high school last night, the stage hands did a magnificent job by the way.
The silver lining in the loss is they played .750 hockey over the last 4 games, .500 should get them in.
Still got no use for eMTy.
