  13. It's really baffling. Fine, all the mediots are pompom carrying leaf fans. Whatever. But why the hate and disrespect towards the Habs? It makes no sense. There's practically no coverage from any of the networks on what is obviously Canada's only chance in the playoffs. Zero. Nil. Zilch. I just don't get it.

Was great to hear Healy (I know it's rare) say that the Laffs only have a 9% chance of making the playoffs after losing to the Jets. The Laffs have no more home games left and choked in front of their sushi eating, suit-comped faithful.

    1. Not Geoff Molson1:16 PM

Should have gone with my gut feeling about Healy not being right. Turns out it was 9.6% chance for the Laffs before the game and now they've only got a 2.6% chance.

      Good night Irene!

Wow, what a game last night. The guide was correct and the Habs game was on the PVR when we got home. Loved all the anti-Habs bias by hnic, it just makes the leaf failure and the Habs success all the more sweeter for us. We have to understand though, that the anti-Habs bias will continue as long as hnic has control for the rest of the year. Hopefully, SportsNet will find some play by play announcers who are at least neutral and Strombo will not flog the leaf like mclame does.

Poor old Cherry was nearly in tears after the game.

The Toronto papers were a fun read this morning... guess the ACC fans gave their leaf quite the rousing send off after the game. And Rob Ford was drunk and disorderly, who da thunk it.

Love the 18 wheeler pic. Absolutely brilliant!

  28. I did a two hour hit and run on St Catherines and the Bell center yesterday. Still 30 bucks for a t shirt. What was new to me was you can buy used game sticks.Biggest name available was Vodkov. Considering these sticks are over 200 new I guess 125 for a used one is not a bad deal. In fact I saw one that looked like it had never touched the puck, it was RBQ's.

    Wonderful outcomes yesterday all round.

Re: PK. Ultimately, I believe a deal will get done but PK's not going to get top dollar. I believe he will get a deal very similar to Price's, 6 years at about $6mil per. For all his flash and dash, PK still needs to learn the defensive side of the game. Babcock recognized that and MB, an old defenceman himself knows it. PK is a RFA and doesn't hold the hammer just yet. His only other option is a holdout and he already tried that once... to his chagrin. They were winning without him and they've got Tinman and N8 waiting in the wings to take his spot. Not a good plan. I agree with Todd, Markov needs to be signed first, 3 years plus maybe one more. Then take a run at Vanek, probably not going to happen but a long playoff run could convince him otherwise. Still, too many factors point to Vanek heading to Minny. Then you turn your attention to PK.

    ReplyDelete
  54. the Maritimer5:51 PM

Speaking of SportsNet, HC @ Noon today, Kypreos and Morrison were heaping praise on the Habs for their play of late, particularly Price, Patches and Vanek, then in the interview with the great Scotty Bowman, Weaver and the two Gallys. I could scarce believe my ears. Kypreos even said that Hockey Central were going all in with the Habs playoff run. The Apocalypse must be upon us. Anyone seen the Four Horsemen? "It’s a shame, really. At this point in the season, we should be talking about how Phil Kessel is closing in on 40 goals and has thrown his name into the mix for the Hart Trophy. We should be debating whether Jonathan Bernier’s numbers are good enough for a Vezina Trophy nomination and how James van Riemsdyk, Nazem Kadri, Morgan Rielly are all taking steps towards stardom." - traikos, another of the excuse-making morons

He's not entirely wrong. I don't necessarily cheer for a Canadian team in the playoffs. The leaf ? Fuck that. Ottawa? Ha Ha. I've never forgiven Calgary for winning in the Forum in '89. Edmonton, too much Gretzky odour still lingers there. Vancouver and Winnipeg, meh. I don't want any fucking leaf fans cheering for my Habs anyway.

    5. Arthur may not be necessarily wrong but he is still a leaf suck-up who sings from the same song sheet put in front of the mediot choir. I can see myself cheering 4 (maybe 5) other Canadian teams making it to the Finals. The leaf, never.

    6. Fortunately, moe, you'll never be put into a situation in which you have to realistically contemplate that. Can you believe it, 10/11 years out of the playoffs, the one time they got in was a shortened season they squeaked into as they just started their collapse, and then they're out in the first round after spectacularly falling apart in G7. And yet, the mediots are still drooling over them. Over the last 11 years they are tied for the worst performance with the Blue Jackets, who are looking like they're going to surpass them this spring with their second playoff appearance in that time span. Get over them! They are NOT GOOD. Stop trying to make the maple leafs happen. They are not going to happen!
