  9. Obviously, coming back from 3-1 isn't impossible as the Rags did against the Pens but, man, what a shit show.

  12. The positive is that we've learned quite a bit about this team during this run. We've learned who's a keeper and who's not. Now it's up to MB to sort it all out and improve for the future. The very good news is that the young guys all look like definite keepers. This team has a bright future.

  13. But seriously, how do you go 1/8 on the PP and give up a SHG? That's just sad. The refs were punishing AV for whining for the last 48 hours straight and saying his player was justified for going after a ref. But the boys did nothing with that except embarrass themselves.

I really do believe most of those guys think beating the broons was enough. I just don't see the passion on the bench or in their play. They did "just enough" which seems to be the team's motto.

Oh well, at least they didn't get swept.

    3. Well, it doesn't matter what I think. But looking at most of those guys the last couple of games, they think it's over, which means it's likely over. Unless something changes before next game, of course.

Hey, ask me back in February if making the ECF would have satisfied me, and I would have said it would. I was actually zen about the thought of them losing G6 to the broons, though I really wanted it to go to 7 just for respect's sake. I was totally zen about G7, too. The frustration comes from seeing what they're capable of, and what they produce on the ice. It also comes from seeing Toker come in and play his heart out and getting no defence or offense in return.

  14. The calming news is that I've watched the West games, and whoever wins this series is going to get destroyed by whoever comes out of the West. I know everyone keeps saying that, but I'm not even going on stats or regular season. Watching NYR-MTL is like watching a minor league game compared to the Western series. So eat it up, Rags. Try to take out Quick with an 'accident' and see if you're able to walk afterwards.

  15. Ah fuck it. I can stay positive for one more game.

That was disappointing for sure, but the Habs are winning tomorrow night at the Bell. After that, well, they've proven they can win at MSG and they were getting stronger last night as the game went on. The Rags won that game on 3 huge mistakes --- 3 clear cut breakaways. Toker is only human, he managed to stop one out of 4. Like juce (and Yogi) said: It aint over 'til it's over.

  17. Well, they won 2 in a row against the broons, what's to say they can't win one more in a row against the Rags? Like I said, I was pretty zen going into G6 with the broons, I just wanted them to force a G7. When they did that, I was pretty zen going into the last one, knowing they went out swinging. The only disappointment I have now is due to the expectations I put on the team after they beat the broons. I expected the team that won that series to show up for this one. They haven't.

The forwards aren't scoring (5 goals in 4 games, only 2 in the last 2).
    The defence isn't defending
    The leaders aren't leading
    The coach isn't coaching

Thank goodness for Toker, or the last two could have gotten out of hand early. Honestly, I felt more confident in the team that was down 3-1 against the Caps in 2010. It was a worse Habs team playing a much better team than the Rags, but there was just a sense of desperation and passion. Kind of what we saw in G6+7 against the broons. I've seen nothing approaching that in the four games so far.

Like I said, it's a good learning experience for the young 'uns. Ask me back in February if I would have taken this and I would have. Hell, I was just glad to beat the broons in G6 a couple of weeks ago.

    I have believed the boys could pull it off every period of this series, with the exception of OT in G3 (and look how that turned out). I just honestly don't think there's much left. As I said going into that OT period;

    Heart: GO HABS GO (forever)
Head: It was a nice run. See you in October.

Prove me wrong Habs. Prove me wrong!

    2. Feel the same way.

Our problem is too many Jekyll and Hyde players and some just Hydes. Vodkov and PFK both good Canadian boys(citizens) God love them killed us last night with stupid pee wee errors. VonT is perhaps the most over rated player ever. He makes the Mexicant look like a future hall of famer. Last night the only forwards who looked like keepers where DDD, Lego and Vampire Dan. However we are not alone, Cindy Lou could not find the handle against the Rags and the man Taxi drivers fear the most over in Chicago is taking all kinds of heat for not delivering the goods. Could it be the conference finals are fucking tough? Putting the Broons out is a moral chalice of glory I shall drink from all summer regardless of any future,.

  18. Back to last night, Dave Hodge is, as the Jews say, a real mensch. I had a quick chat with him, he was friendly, thoughtful, and was very happy to be there. Here is Dave's intro and all of Farber's speech if you're interested:

    1. I still remember Dave Hodge throwing his pencil in the air, and getting fired because some bureaucrat at the CBC could not understand that old news does not preempt live overtime. He spoke the truth to power and got crushed, but good on em.

  20. When you get 8 power play chances in a game like last night - and one in OT you have got to make the Rangers pay the price. Every time you don't you give them more momentum. I can't believe they didn't end it in OT with the power play...but it was just poor. Over all however, it's wasn't the worst game they have played...and but for a crossbar off a GCHUK shot and this series is tied at 2. O G A A T my friends. this is not over yet. Just fucking win!!

  22. I have changed my mind about good enough. Yes I re read Sun Tzu the Art of War. Execute this team is they fail. That should be the message. If you were bottom six we will just make you and Eunuch, but for our stars its victory or death.

  23. I hope Therrien is ready to perform some magic. Start with a Vanishing act. Sit VonT. Give a kid a shot. Hey, Lebrow here's your audition for next season. Or Pateryn. Or another midget ffs - Sven Andrighetto. Vanish can fuck off and go to Minnesota right fucking now. Thanks - you gave us a glimmer of hope. Now go jump in one of Minnesota's many lakes.

VonT has to be hurt, can't win a puck battle to save his life. I suspect PFK's 2 for the price of 1 ass hit on Reilly Smith did some damage to the big Austrian. I will withhold judgement until after the Habs season is over.

    1. Its almost over now baby blue. No matter what happens every player who showed their true color was yellow will be supported by management as having a black and blue case.

Although I have consulted with Dr Rechii and he agrees with your prognosis. No way a healthy Austrian could be such a girlie man.

  25. I'm not going to link to it, but Kerry Fraser/TSN has another hit piece out on the "diving" Montreal Canadiens. That's about 6 letters in a row he's printed and responded to (affirmatively) from fans of the team playing the Habs. I honestly don't remember the last one from a Hab fan or about anything other than anti-Hab accusations. It's kind of sad that it's just hockey and so many people have to go out of their way to insult and try to discredit an entire organization, individual players and millions fo fans. It's just a game!

    1. Don't even try to read any of the comments on any Habs stories. That's all you see - diving comments. I know I watch with my Habs coloured glasses on, but am I watching a different game? Were all Ranger penalties not deserved? Were not some penalties NOT called (for both sides)? You swing a stick at my face, my heads going to snap back. That would be your automatic survival instinct. Maybe nyr and broon fans don't have the intelligence level to comprehend that. Haters gotta hate I guess.

  27. So word is that MT already got his extension and everyone seems to agree he deserves it. I am not a coach or a coach's critic because I probably don't know enough about the intracacies of the game to have a valid opinion. But here it is anyway.

It seems like everyone thinks MT earned the extension by getting the team to the ECF. My perspective is, if they lose next game it really doesn't matter. Either you win the Cup or you don't, and if you don't then you should use the opportunity to maximize how the experience will help you win the Cup the next year.

Montreal is a young team, or at least it can be. Some of the young guys got experience here and it will help them. But we all know MT refuses to play the young guys in preference of the old vets who often give us nothing. Even right now, Lego, gCHuck and Gkid have been their best forwards yet get almost no time on the PP and in the case of Lego and CHucky, 3-4th line minutes. Instead we get Gio, Plecks, Vanish, DD, and even Patches who have proven their uselessness again and again this post season. We've also seen how this favouritism of the vets has affected the blue line, and maybe even possibly pushing the Habs' first legit superstar to look elsewhere in the future.

My point is, hey ECF! Great! But do we really have such short memories? We said the same thing in 2010, and it took 4 more years to win a playoff series. The most important thing to the success of this team isn't getting to the third round this year. It's the development of the young players that have the opportunity to lead this team to glory in a couple of years. MT is not the guy for that, in my opinion.

I'm tired of hearing beating the broons is good enough, making the third round is good enough, making the playoffs is good enough. No it isn't. Not anymore. I realize a Cup isn't going to materialize overnight, but it's never going to come if we're constantly satisfied with an ECF showing every half decade. I'm not satisfied with beating the broons anymore, after this year. I'll be satisfied with winning the Cup and beating the bruins is part of that. No more half measures. No more living on past glory. From what I've seen of the kids, I think this team has a real chance to do great things in the years to come. But not if we keep telling them beating the bruins is like winning the Cup. We've seen here in this series what that attitude does.

    Godammit.

    1. I have purposely stayed silent on the coach of the Montreal Canadiens - no one likes the guys who comes to the party and pisses in the pool - but y'all know my feelings. He is not the coach that will lift the next Stanley Cup in Montreal and the sooner he is gone the better. His way with the kids is deplorable and PFK has risen above his bullshit to show you what he is made of. He's done that by making it almost impossible for the coach to keep him on the bench. The rest of the kids need to make some more noise and the management needs to get their heads out of their asses and get on with finding the right coach to take the Habs past the ECF
