  7. Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin challenged defenseman P.K. Subban to the popular ice-bucket challenge raising money for ALS research.

Subban took the challenge to a new level by filling a dump truck with water and 60 bags of ice. He called out Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel, rapper Drake, Canadian television executive Scott Moore, and the owner of the Canadiens, Geoff Molson.

Notice the caption "Toronto-born PK Subban.... IATG

  9. Good news.

Bozon, who was selected by Montreal in the third round (64th overall) of the 2012 National Hockey League entry draft, received an invitation this week to the Canadiens’ rookie camp next month and is confident he’ll be there.

He said he feels 100 per cent. And from a high-level sports perspective Bozon said he believes he’s close to that target. “But I still have a bit of time to train.”

  13. Hilarious typo at tsn: "TSN is set to deliver more hockey than Toronto Maple Leafs games than ever before, as the network broadcasts 26 Leafs games in 2014-15. "
Methinks tsn just suggested that tmp games aren't actual hockey.

    1. I was just readiing that lol.
Also noted that the Habs schedule is now fully updated with the networks schedules. Looks like, I'm ok with current package BUT I will be forced to watCH some on hnic as it seems that RDS no longer has every game. ugh.

    2. the Maritimer5:37 PM

Looks like I will be missing a lot of games in the upcoming season. No RDS in my house and looks like the TSN-Habs channel is gone. Guess I'll have to follow along with the TSN radio broadcast and 4HF comments.

    3. The sick fucks at snet are hyping their 41 leaf games, most on 'national' time. I will have more to say later but these sick fucks will cram more leaf down more throats than the cockroaches did. tsn is simply licking up second hand leaf splooge. The CotU leaf love-in will be truly disgusting.

      Delete
    4. the Maritimer7:23 PM

Seems appropriate then that their leaf love and splooge swallowing is rewarded year after year with losing and more losing. Phatphil says they have figured out how not to collapse anymore...we'll see how that turns out. Heh heh.

    5. Well said the M.

It will be fun to see these sick fucks run with their leaf first and foremost despite 6 other Canadian teams and a total of 29 other NHL teams. Ya think fuckface bettman will step in and ask why the disproportionate coverage? Please. The more these fuckers lose, the more desperate the sick fucks get.

  14. FWIW, my CHoices for the Captaincy of pro hockeys most important hockey team, ever:

    1. Vodkov
    2. PFK
    3. CHarger

I love PleXXXe and what he has done for the team but I just don't feel a 'C' vibe in him. PatCHes is in the mix but for the next young Hab wearing the most valuable 'C' in pro sorts, PFK has it in spades (I know how to play on words). Bonus would be to put the Canadiens long-term-signed media-savvy star, a Norris-CHamp up against the blue and white pylon who has a saving grace in a Montreal-born babe. Start your comparisons you sick fuck CotU mediots.

  17. Representatives for Steve Moore and Todd Bertuzzi have reached an out-of-court settlement in relation to a civil suit filed by the former, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet.

In a release from the Canadian Press, Geoff Adair, a lawyer for Bertuzzi, confirmed the settlement, but says the terms are confidential; Moore was seeking $68 million in damages.

The lawsuit was filed by Moore in relation to an incident on March 8, 2004 during a game between the Colorado Avalanche and Vancouver Canucks; Bertuzzi punched Moore from behind and drove him into the ice, fracturing three vertebrae and ending his career.

Bertuzzi pleaded guilty to criminal assault causing bodily harm for the hit and was sentenced in 2006 to one year probation and 80 hours of community service.

    1. Shortly after it was announced that a settlement had been reached in a civil suit filed by Steve Moore against Todd Bertuzzi, the latter's lawyer received a "disconcerting email" that may put the deal in jeopardy, according to Rick Westhead of TSN.

  18. Whoa! Them there's fighting words Kovalev!

"Kovalev doesn't understand why Subban is worth $72M: 'He plays like he did on streets as a child'
Montreal Canadiens fans were largely overjoyed when Norris Trophy-winning defenseman P.K. Subban agreed to an eight-year, $72-million contract extension earlier this month, but at least one former NHL player isn't convinced the price is right.

Alexei Kovalev, who suited up for the Canadiens from 2003-09, says Subban is a quality player but, in his opinion, one with obvious defensive deficiencies.

"He's a good player, but he remains a dangerous defender," Kovalev told RDS (via Google Translate). "[You] can get five goals, but allow five so the score would be equal. I always compare it to Brian Leetch because he also wants to play a more attacking style. [He] does not always take the right decisions and plays just like he did on the streets as a child.

"He won the Norris Trophy so it may be a reason why he was awarded this contract," Kovalev continued. "But with regard to his game, I do not understand why he gets so much money."

What's interesting here is that while Kovalev recorded 430 goals and 599 assists in 1316 NHL games, he wasn't exactly known for giving his full effort shift-in and shift-out.

Kovalev added that he doesn't see Subban as a good fit for the team's vacant captaincy, citing Max Pacioretty as a more ideal candidate.

I don't understand how players get such contracts now. It's a different era, players before my generation no doubt thought the same about us.

fuck off kovalev. try showing up and playing with effort every game like PFK does - although it's clear that was a completely alien concept for you. still irks me to this day that Carbo actually awarded him the "C".

    1. the Maritimer5:22 PM

One thing you can say about l'Artiste is he always was (is) brutally honest. He's not completely wrong, PK is high risk, high reward. The contract is what it is, I thought it was way too much, but I'm not paying it so what the fuck who cares. Besides in 4 or 5 years it will probably seem quite reasonable.

BTW, just to continue on moe's rant yesterday, fuck Rogers and Sportsnet and their schedule for broadcasting Habs games. I'm not paying one cent more to any cable company for more games. They and the NHL can shove their agreement up their ass. I'll be going to more junior games.

    3. Sometimes and eveytime that high risk meets success somebody just said FUCK IT and went for it. If you want to be an entrepreneur you have to have a fuck it mentality. Most of our biz wonders have never tasted failure. No daddy was there with a bottle when they fucked up royally. No nothing wrong with that. Some learned some failed
but we need big guys to carry the modern world on our shoulders.

  20. Today or yesterday the world in some kind of skewed poll decided Canada is the best nation on this earth if you look at the number of cities they consider wonderful. Get used to this folks because Russia and Canada are in the sweet climate change band, And Steven Segal is not sure he could take Putin, but Harper he could make bark like a seal.
