  3. Happy BIRTHDAY 29. And considering the headline I hope its not politically incorrect to hope you spear a Norwegian, and save a whale by otherwise occupying a Shield Madien

  8. Damphousse on l'Antichambre reported that DGMB had discussions with Brodeur's agent back in July. I understand why AC, good QC boys that they are supporting such a move, but could DGMB really be considering it?

    1. Here's the thing Juce, no matter how we all feel about Fat Marty - and I am on the side of - "fuck you you didn't want us when you were good, we don't need you now that you are old" - you can't take away the fact that he is a HOF 1st time inductee dead cert - I guarantee you any NHL GM would take a meeting with him...doesn't mean he signs with us and the french thing just serves to stir the pot...I wouldn't worry about it too much. With TFS, Toker and Budi, along with the other prospects the Habs have waiting in the wings, the goalie is the least of DGMB's worries...

    2. Agree Marty is one of the best, especially when he played at the Bell Centre, always gave them are hard time. Would have loved him a Habs sweater in his prime and he still can bring value to a lot of teams.

Off topic, people have lined up since 4:00 am to audition for the Anthem singer and now they have extended the auditions by an additional 4hrs.

    7. As per Moey:

Looking back at my 22 years of pro hockey first in Finland and then in the NHL I feel truly blessed and fulfilled. I have been contemplating retirement for quite some time and am very confident in my decision at this time and place.

Making it in hockey is not only about talent and hard work on the part of the athlete. You cannot do it alone no matter how determined you are. I am grateful to so many people along the way that have facilitated and made my career possible.

I am eternally grateful to Vladimir Jursinov and the TPS organization for recognizing and feeding my strengths at a key time in my youth.

I want to thank the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation and the coaches, staff and my teammates. It has been an immense privilege for me to represent Finland in international hockey. The successes we achieved together gave me confidence and fueled my ambitions as a player.

To the late Don Baizley, my agent and friend. You provided me with unmatched professional help, wisdom and genuine friendship rarely experienced in life. You were an example to me of the kind of man I aspired to be. You are and will be missed.

I want to thank Serge Savard, the late JC Tremblay and the Montreal Canadiens organization for drafting me, believing in me and providing a wonderful place to begin my NHL journey. I also would like to extend special thanks to the Molson family, George Gillett and his family, Bob Gainey and Pierre Boivin. Thank you to my former teammates, coaches and the Montreal Canadiens staff.

I feel I was truly lucky to have a chance to play for the legendary Canadiens for so many years and serve as captain, and share that great honor with many truly legendary captains from before my time.

My time in Montreal was special beyond playing hockey. Thank you to the fans and lovely people of Montreal for your support and love, and for providing my family and me with wonderful memories that we will always cherish as well as the immense support during my illness. Thank you with all my heart to Dr. and Mrs. David Mulder and Dr. and Mrs. Blair Whittemore and the staff at Montreal General Hospital for saving my life.

I am thankful to the Anaheim Ducks organization, Henry and Susan Samueli and Bob Murray for welcoming my family and me to Orange County and giving me an opportunity to play for an amazing organization and a truly great team. I am grateful to them for allowing me to experience NHL hockey in California. Thank you to my teammates, coaches and the Anaheim Ducks staff and to the Ducks’ fans. Orange County has truly been a blessing for us.

All in all it has been a dream come true but what I value the most in hockey is the feeling of being part of a team and the friendships I have made along the way.

I could not have made it without the loving support of my parents and family. I was blessed with a wonderful childhood and an upbringing that provided me with all I needed to make my career and life what it is today. Thank you Hanna, Ilona and Aatos for loving me as a man and father and supporting my career and sharing the ups and downs of it all. I love you.”

Bonne chance Saku! All the best to you in the future. Bob really fucked up when he let you walk and brought in the mexican't. A black eye for the organization.

  11. Okay lets get to some current Hockey talk. If Patches is named capitien its a massive fail. Love Max, but he did the old magic Euro trick during the playoffs. PFK must be the C. Any other choice is to deny history. Some will say what leadership skill has he displayed. Well first is not being on the front page with blow and hookers.

Second his work ethic off the ice is beyond question.
Third he has a personality, a winning one.

Hi Flashyness is so far away from wearing the C it's not even on the horizon.
It's time for Vodkov to suck it up an stand the fuck up.
Time to be a man and stop avoiding the obvious.
You don't ask him, you put the C on the sweater.
      Go Habs

  13. Rule 64 – Diving / Embellishment

The supplementary discipline penalties associated with Rule 64.3 (Diving/Embellishment) will be revised to bring attention to and more seriously penalize players (and teams) who repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties. Fines will be assessed to players and head coaches on a graduated scale outlined below.

    Incident # Player Fine(s) Head Coach Fine(s)
    1 Warning N/A
    2 $2,000 N/A
    3 $3,000 N/A
    4 $4,000 $2,000
    5 $5,000 $3,000
    6 $5,000 $4,000
    7 $5,000 $5,000
    8 $5,000 $5,000

While I agree with putting a stop to diving, I have seen players called for diving where NONE exists, so I don't know if I like this.

  14. Rule 38 – Video Goal Judge

Video review will be expanded in the following areas:

    * Rule 38.4 (viii) has been modified to allow broader discretion to Hockey Operations to assist the referees in determining the legitimacy of all potential goals (e.g., to ensure they are "good hockey goals"). The revised Rule will allow Hockey Operations to correct a broader array of situations where video review clearly establishes that a "goal" or "no goal" call on the ice has been made in error. The new expanded rule will also allow Hockey Operations to provide guidance to referees on goal and potential goal plays where the referee has blown his whistle (or intended to blow his whistle) after having lost sight of the puck.

    * In reviewing "Kicked in Goals," Hockey Operations will require more demonstrable video evidence of a "distinct kicking motion" in order to overrule a "goal" call on the ice, or to uphold a "no goal" call on the ice.

  15. Anybody see the Sportsnet "New home of the NHL commercial" with Strombo and Donutboy? Kinda funny. Donutboy looks to be living up to his name. Strombo staying strong early on with his Habs roots. We'll see how long that lasts.
