  1. Blob Mackenzie says replays weren't very good, he had to view one that he found from RDS which had an ice view which shows there was definitely intitial contact to the head and believes a suspension will be handed out. Good on RDS.
Cover up from other cockroach broadcasts.

  2. The Buttman Pumpkin. Reading the posts from last nights game was a great experience almost like I was there. For all the change for all the new CHaracter IMHO the system remains the same. No I am not talking about the US midterm elections, I am talking about TFS. TFS is the system the system is TFS. You could put a monkey behind the bench and I dont think the result would change much, except more interesting lines. The five D line. Four defencemand and DDD. A kind of game of thrones offence. The LEGO line, all players born within a thousand miles of the factory.

My point is why even pretend to play defence. Let Carey stop it thats our D system, always has been always will be. The shift is that TFS is now godlike.

So lets just concentrate on offense. Lets just go for it run and gun. When God has your back, attack attack attack!

  4. Well, I got through the first period. The leaffools on Sportsnet are ridiculous. Jason York (why is he a Habs analyst?) trying his best to deflect the Western Canada foolishness this week, disagreeing with John Garrett (wtf is he still on tv?) about the hit to the head. No it wasn't "intial contact" to the head plus there were three clear strides after the puck was gone before the hit. For the most part 'the league' hates the Canucks almost as much as the habs, so i think we'll see a 2 game suspension.

Anyway, take the .500 record and get the hell out of Dodge.

    1. Prust said his hit was 0.8 of a second late, NHL standard is 0.6
A hit that comes 0.6 seconds after a player has the puck, they’re told, is okay.
At 0.7 seconds and beyond, they’re in trouble – especially if the hit causes an injury.
“The hit itself wasn’t really a topic in the hearing,” Prust explained. “It was all about the timing of it.

    2. Shocking news: Kerry on Nilan says Manny is as honest as the day is long. Even slight suggestion of 'conspiracy' among the stripes that because of a couple of embellishments the whole team is labelled by them.

Here's a large excerpt from his blog (even though he always seems to throw 'embellishing' or 'theatrics' on anything Habs.)

While I'm okay with the ref's decision to penalize Tom Gilbert once he set a moving pick by going East-West against Alexander Edler, two separate picks on the ensuing power-play set by Radim Vrbata and then Kevin Bieksa were every bit deserving of a penalty call; if not more so. The infractions took place in open ice where both referees would have had a clear view of the play. So why were no armbands raised; not once but twice?
It appeared to me that the referees became stubborn when they detected some attempts at "salesmanship" by the Montreal players to get the call. The picks were legitimate as contact was deliberately initiated by the Vancouver players in open ice. Any minor theatrics that might have taken place following the illegal picks was not worthy of keeping the whistle in the holster; especially with Gibert serving a penalty for the same infraction. I am also sure there was some conscious thought process not to be perceived as whistling the dreaded 'make-up call.' Common sense and sound judgment should have overridden both of these debilitating thought processes to whatever degree they existed in the mind of either referee.
I fully endorse every effort to eradicate embellishment from the game. The referees have been instructed to make diving/embellishment a focus of emphasis as we have seen in this young season.
However, with a four on three situation in OT that created plenty of open space on the ice this was not the appropriate time to become either stubborn or attempt teach players a lesson about theatrics.
Vrbata dished the puck from the top right faceoff circle to Edler in the middle. Tomas Plekanec fronted Edler from a distance as the lone Habs high defender on the PK formation.
As Edler walked the puck toward the right side Vrbata skated directly at Plekanec, who was attempting to mirror the movement of the puck carrier. Vrbata initiated direct and deliberate contact with the Montreal defender. To restate; there was plenty of ice for Vrbata to take without 'bumping' into Plekanec. The deliberate contact initiated by Vrbata detained Plekanec from moving freely in his attempt to remain in front of Edler and establish position in the shot-block lane.
A momentary stall/pause was then followed by a 'reaction' from Plekanec as his body rotated and dropped to one knee. I see this as any easy call to make and both referees should have raised their arm the instant that contact was initiated. Any subsequent reaction from Plekanec was minimal and of no consequence to the infraction committed by Vrbata on the power-play.
Not long afterward, with 49 seconds remaining in the power-play, Bieksa retrieved the puck at his blue line with Manny Malhotra in pursuit. Bieksa retreated into the Canuck end zone as Malhotra backed off toward center ice. Bieksa started up ice, dropped the puck for Chris Higgins who swooped in from behind, and then proceeded to run a perfect one-man 'Flying V' to engage and contact Malhotra at the red line! Malhotra was attempting to intercept Higgins by moving laterally to his right but was taken out by Bieksa's body contact and stick restraint. I can only suspect that the subsequent left leg swoop that Malhotra utilized might have given the referees a false impression of the play. I know Manny Malholtra to be an extremely honest player; he's as honest as the day is long! This deliberate interference, initiated by Kevin Bieksa, was more worthy of a penalty than the two previous picks set by Gilbert and Vrbata.

You work late and still manage to keep us entertained, then even after a loss (albeit in overtime) you come straight back with a knockyourfuckingsocksoff SF. Some oldies and a lot of goodies. Morgan Fairchild, Farah Fawcett, All the Angels! Charger, le Gros Bill (edition tres jeune!) and Mrs. Fucking Kotter! (RIP) We are not worthy!

I am gonna watch more tape before commenting on last night's game. But before I do - I would just like to say that - earlier this month I called the Habs to end the season on 118 points - just to say - they are ahead of the pace I predicted. I called October at 7-3-1 - they went 8-2-1 so they are (in my mind anyway) 2 points ahead of my predicted final total. Nice ones all round!!

I love Halloween. Not that I do anything these days because I'm old and I'm in Asia. But I Fodid scare the shit out of my students today by hiding in a corner with a Scream mask and fake ax. I showered them with candy so all is good.

For future reference, the Charmed girls make excellent Sexy Friday fodder. I do a quiz night here and I was, uh, researching the show and man oh man. Can't go wrong with Shannon Doherty, the middle sister (don't know her real name) and Alissa Minlano (and later Rose McGowen). As witches!

Fuck Buttman's league. I'm not at all saying the Habs deserved better, because they didn't, but all I want is some semblance of fairness. Missed calls, mistakes, fine. Total bias not so much. It all evens out, right? Well, it shouldn't have to.

Ooooooommmmm.....power of three....Take me away bitchy terrible Shannon....

    3. On the most recent H I/O show they mentioned a Habs fan here. I took the time to make an account over there to say that I'm also a long time Hab fan in Korea. Despite my presence here, I don't do the internet commentating thing too much.

There are lots of us here. Tons. Just like everywhere else. There's a Canadian bar here, Rocky Mountain Tavern (RMT) that I used to frequent a lot. I used to do the quiz there, too. It's a younger man's bar, especially now that Itaewon has gentrified. Anyway, back in the day we used to go on Sundays for HNIC and there would be tables of Hab fans. Lots of Oil/Flame/Nuck fans, and we'd watch their games live which was fine seeing as the owners were from the West. But it was always Habs taunting the leaf, or the other way around. But just like this road trip, you'll always get the bleu blanc et rouge and the ole no matter where you are in the world. The best the leaf fans could muster was a cheer here or there when/if they scored. No one to root for, seeing as every player was either terrible or sent off the next season.

My point is, we are everywhere us Habs fans. Coast to coast ain't nothing. How about corner (of the globe) to corner. Man, I've seen the Hab CH in Cambodia, Australia, Germany and Ukraine. Can't say that about the leaf or any other team. Even the Expos cap has been popular here for a few years.

You guys don't know, you don't appreciate. Montreal is world renowned, despite our domestic media. Good poutine is considered good sushi. It's a cultural oddity. I say I went to McGill and people gasp. I'm a moron. But Montreal man...Montreal.

Kiss the sidewalk on the way home tonight, would you? For me?

  20. "Minnesota Wild forward Thomas Vanek says he regrets getting involved in an ongoing money laundering investigation.

"I'm not proud of the decisions I've made," Vanek told reporters Saturday. "But as a person, I just have to move on from it and learn from (my) mistakes.”

A defense attorney for a man who pleaded guilty to illegal gambling and conspiracy to launder money said the check his client helped launder came from Vanek when he played for the New York Islanders.

Vanek's agent, Steve Bartlett, issued a denial on Friday.

The forward said Saturday that Bartlett informed the Wild of the situation before the team signed him as a free agent on July 1."

Plus, [Rene] Bourque is the kind of guy who will work to find loose pucks and create space for us, so hopefully it will be a good line and we can make it work.”
