  5. The Silvertips reported on their Twitter account that Scherbak, who was selected 26th overall at the 2014 NHL draft, has “movement in all his extremities and his head/neck are okay. Undergoing tests for a potential back injury.” In 19 games this season, the 18-year-old Scherbak has 11 goals and 17 assists with the Silvertips,

Hello fellow FHFers! I went to the Sea Dogs game last night, hence my silence during the Habs/B's game last night. I must say I enjoyed reading all the comments this morning having my coffee, great stuff by usual suspects. I watched the game on PVR when I got home so I was quite aware of all the shit the B's were guilty of and the Boston arse sucking by hnic. I had a very interesting experience last night while exiting the Sea Dogs game, I recognized and ended up having a nice chat with former Montreal Canadien player, London Knights co-owner and current Director of Player Personnel for the dysfunctional leaf, Mr. Mark Hunter. I did not mention said leaf out of respect, but here's a funny little story that occurred at the end of our conversation:

At the end of our conversation Mark mentioned there seemed to be quite a few Habs fans around. I said indeed there were but there were many Leafs fans as well. I also said there were a few Bruins fans in Saint John and he was a bit surprised by that fact. I told him it was probably due to the close proximity of Boston… you can get there in 7 hours by car. Two gentlemen walking in front of us must have heard the conversation and one of them (wearing a Canadiens hat) turned around and said: “the Bruins fans are the ones with the lower IQ’s.” To which Mr. Hunter and I both got quite a chuckle!

Anyway, thought I would share that with you, It's always fun to talk to the guys who actually played for our beloved Habs or most any NHLer.

Now, I know I'm being greedy but I really, really, really want the Habs to beat the Rags tonight just to shut up the CotU nitwits who continue to insist the Canadiens are not an 'elite' team. I don't know what else they would have to do to prove otherwise. Beat the leaf maybe?

    Go Als!

    1. Great story the M.
I also want them to beat the Rags, esp. to ram the b2b down their throats, though I'm sure they'll still pull some kind of excuses out their asses and will never whisper how their leaf won their Rag game when Rangers were missing 3 players: Ryan McDonnagh (Top D-man), John Moore Suspension, Dan Boyle and playing backup goalie i/o Lundqvist.

  13. Congrats to the Als for turning around a 1-7 disaster of a season. That was something. They'll be back next year healthier and with a QB with experience under his belt.

Bitter taste to end though. Ugh, 3 INTs and 2 returns for TD against. meh

  14. At least the Pats won! 1-1 for the day. Looking for a 2-1 day after disposing of the dirty Rags. Figure out some supper before ending my day with the Habs vs the Walking Dead. Wait, Habs then the WD. Even got some yard work done at half time. I'll call the day productive. 19. Just a small comment on the M's story above.

A friend of mine is from Nova Scotia and he often tells me that it's pretty much split between the Habs and broons over there, although since Crosby entered the league it might be mostly Pens fans now (the young'ins). He told me 7 of his buddies drove down to beantown for the game on Saturday, a mix of Hab and broon fans. As you said, Boston is actually the closest hockey market and you can either drive down or take a ferry.

    GO HABS GO!

    1. Sadly there are also a lot of leaf fans here too. I'd say there is a slim majority of Habs fans.

There is a ferry that goes from Yarmouth (western tip of NS) to Bangor, Maine that the NS government keeps afloat. I keep saying that a ferry from Halifax to Boston would be far more useful. Boston itself is actually a beautiful city and I'd take advantage of that.

  23. With gamecenter live, I can get the other team's broadcast if I want. Funny thing, often when I switch to that broadcast they're saying kind words about either specific Habs or the team as a whole. Just now when I tuned in they were praising PK, saying he's amazing, etc. Yet when we listen to our 'home' broadcast often it's quite the opposite. Funny how that works.

Good morning everyone! Just checked the standings and our Canadiens are still No. 1 overall. That may change as the week progresses because they don't play again until Friday but man, you gotta like where they are at. MB will keep a close eye on his team and will be active when the trade deadline approaches. We know he is proactive unlike his immediate predecessors. Lots of hockey to be played, lots of twists and turns along the way. I'm going to use the next few days to get caught up on my TV viewing and a couple of movies. I picked up a blu-ray edition of Bladerunner at Wal-Mart for 8 bucks the other day, haven't seen it in years.

Our D is positivily pastifarian with a caulander. TFS makes it look normal. Other goalies make it look like a D that is like the retreat from Vietnamm. This team is a big red Ferrari driving around in the TFS trunk. Ferraries have a very small trunk.

All the flaws of this team are exposed when MT thinks he is a defensive genius. He continues to play conservative on offense with a single player defence. Its fucking crazy. When you have a goalie like TFS forget about fucking around with chess moves in your own zone. Take it to the limit on offense. Do not pretend you are something your not, because we are not a great defensive team.

  107. From c'mon ora:

"In that game, Campbell had dumped the puck into the Habs' zone from just outside the blue line and near the side boards. Weise finished a legal check just off the back portion of Campbell's shoulder cap that caused the Bruins player to fall awkwardly into the boards. After getting back on his feet, Campbell skated toward Weise near the inside hash marks of the end zone face-off circle. Weise viewed this as an immediate threat and fired off his gloves and dropped Campbell with a solid right before the Bruins player had a chance to engage. Weise then landed a couple of more punches on the helmet of Campbell as the linesmen quickly separated the two players and before Campbell could even throw a punch.
Campbell was certainly caught by surprise through the quick action demonstrated by Weise and appeared to express his dismay to Weise in the penalty box at the lack of usual fighter protocol or code normally extended prior to what should have been a mutually agreed upon fight. There didn't appear to be an opportunity to settle the score during the balance of that game on November 13.
On Saturday night, fighter protocol was followed to the letter. A verbal invitation was extended by Campbell to Weise. Weise had the option to continue pursuing the puck and decline the invitation. Instead, the Montreal forward did the honorable thing when he accepted Campbell's offering by stopping, turning and throwing down his stick and gloves first. As a result, Campbell was exonerated of being deemed the instigator of the fight and relieved of any supplementary discipline under Rule 70.2."

....." the lack of usual fighter protocol or code normally extended prior to what should have been a mutually agreed upon fight." WTF? What the fuck code have the broons ever followed? I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about N8 or TinTin spending more time in the Hammer. When N8 served up that pizza to Bennett of Pittsburgh last week he pretty much sealed his own fate. They are both still very young and neither has the last name Doughty or Ekhart, guys who can play in the NHL as an 18 year old. They didn't (Y) until he was like 24 or something. If they don't like it they can sulk or suck it up and play hard in the AHL and make MB make a move. It's up to them.

My biggest concern is eMpTy CONSTANTLY throwing out DD on the fucking useless PP. All he does when he gets the puck is look for Patches, Patches, Patches. Fuck, there is another guy who can score out there not named Patches. PAP. PFK. Vodkov. ANYBODY. What's the definition of insanity? MT and DD are both guilty of it.

  114. I heard they save a few bucks, if Bowman and N8 sit here for 4 days they earn NHL$, down there earn AHL$ plus they get to play a few games. If they don't call them back, then they're just in the dog house.

  115. The National Hockey League is monitoring the rioting in Ferguson, Missouri ahead of Tuesday's game in St. Louis between the Blues and Ottawa Senators.
Ferguson is approximately 20 km from St. Louis.
TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports that it's possible that the Senators-Blues game could be postponed and rescheduled if the rioting were to become an issue in St. Louis.
Riots broke out on Monday night after a Grand Jury in Ferguson decided not to indict a police officer Darren Wilson over the shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown in August.

  116. As we wait...and wait...and wait to play Buffalo, thought I'd take moe's advice and post a request. Then I thought parody. When I think Buffalo, I think Springfield. But I can't do anything anti-Buffalo being they're sadsacks with Gio and Gorges, so, for what it's worth, a mid(ish) week break...:

    There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a mediot with a mic over there
Telling me the Habs got to beware

I think it's time we stop
    Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look - Hughson's going down

    There's battle lines being drawn
The Habs are all right and the mediots are wrong
    Habs fans speaking' their minds
Getting so much CotU resistance from behind

    It's time we stop
    Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look – McLean’s going down

What a field day for the leaf
A thousand people saluting in the street
    Singing songs and carrying signs
    Mostly saying, "plan the parade"

    It's time we stop
    Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - Chery's going down

    Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when Lucic is always afraid
Step out of line, Weise’ll come and take you away

    We better stop
    Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - Kypreos' going down

    We better stop
    Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - Friedman's going down

    We better stop
    Now, what's that sound?
Everybody look - Hrudey's going down

    We better stop
    Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look - Sportsnet's going down (on the leaf)

  117. Listening to Nilan talking to Jimmy Bizzy (sp.) his former teammate and best bud in beantown discussing broons and Tyler Sequin came up.If I heard correctly, (I got distracted with something else) Bizzy mentioned something about married, he won't mention any names but he knows that happened for a fact.

  122. All the pundits agree. DDD is the last passagner on this team. He is the little square in the big round.. I wish DDD was Denis Savard, or Martin St Louis, but hie is not.He is Charles Brofman to Clint Eastwood. He is Ediston to Telsa. He is Bill Gates to Steve Jobs. Maybe he could be a decent little winger, but he is never going to be a first line center. He was not born that way.

      A career Canadien. R.I.P.

I don't really recall him playing, but I remember him from La Soiree du Hockey, an institution sadly missed.

  126. TSN is so predictable and petty. I just visited their site and upon seeing that the leaf game is not front and center I say to myself, "They must be losing". I look for the score in the above line and it's missing. You have to scroll all the way to the end to find it. Funny, their last two games were first, with updates front and center on their main page.

It's just so odd. It's just hockey! Imagine what these guys would do with real news!
