  1. Go Als Go! ...can someone xplain to me why they are playing BC...I haven't been too close to the CFL in recent years...and Go Habs GO! do we get Toker tonight?

    1. It's called the "crossover rule". If the West's 4th best team has a better record than the East's 3rd best team, the West's 4th best team gets that last playoff spot and plays in the "East" semi-final. Bonus, this year it was Toronto that got screwed

Dave Stubbs ‏@Dave_Stubbs 4h4 hours ago

Those asking: look for Dustin Tokarski in goal for #Habs vs #redwings tonight #HabsIO

      Delete
    2. I should clarify that for the crossover, rule, it could technically apply to either division. But in reality it's always the West that crosses over to the East because the East is terrible

  2. @Habsfan1993 Rightous! We should all get up stand up every day in every way. The goal mouth scramble may have been great refing, except on the very next play they blow the same senario deade in a millisecond.

  3. I gotta give a shout out to Brandon Prust echoing what the Maritmer said. Rinaldo needed his face punched and Prust stepped up. The bully is not so bold when he knows he might take one. Even Steven Segal gets partial bitch slapping at the middle of a fight and that has to hurt.

  6. Early dinner thread to get your taste buds rolling:

Outside of making ice or toast, nothing simpler and tastier than a nice big bowl of fresh beer-steamed mussels.

On sale at Metro, 907g bag for $3. Tip from the fishmonger, check the best before date from the provider (not Metro's).

I always prefer visiting Epicurious for my recipes:

  8. What a game. Als looking strong.

Found this quote by Reimer last night: “I felt good to start the game, felt really good. Just seemed I could not catch a break and the puck was just missing me.”

Not sure if somebody should mention to him that he needs to move and not just 'let the puck hit him'. Probably not.

Phat Phill told Jonas Siegal of tsn to fuck off after the game. Sort of. Way to take ownership of your poor play. The leaf WILL NEVER WIN ANYTHING with him and the Pylon leading them, long may they reign. 8 and 7 more years respectively.

  14. "According to his son, Mark, NHL legend Gordie Howe is in excruciating pain, which is triggering very high blood pressure and bouts of anxiety. "As a family, if we're not going to be able to reduce his pain, the outcome is not going to be good," Mark said."

I had to make a similar decision about my father back in 1999. Life happens. All the best to Gordie and the Howe family.

I know we are watching the Als game, but I can't believe how the Toronto media worship and promote Phat Phill. I wouldn't want that jerk on the Habs I don't give a fuck how many goals he scores. He thinks his $8mil a year makes him unaccountable.

  16. I stopped by a friend's desk at work on Thursday I think, eventually got talking hockey. He's a leaf fan. He says "Look at this." Hauls up the standings showing the leaf 3rd in the division, behind the bolts and Habs. I said to him "Honestly, I'd love to see the leafs make the playoffs - a Habs/Leafs playoff series would be incredible." He says to me (in a very serious tone in which he believes what he's saying) that "Problem is, I don't see the Habs making the playoffs." I responded with a "See you can't have a serious conversation about hockey with a leaf fan because you're all so fucking deluded, it's pointless..." He then moved onto how Babcock will be reviving the team blah blah blah I tuned out and left.

Moral of the story - don't bother trying to talk hockey with a leaf fan. They're not hockey fans. They're leaf fans.

Price began the week by making 29 stops for his 26th career shutout in a 3-0 victory over the Winnipeg Jets Nov. 11. He followed up with a 21-save performance in a 5-1 win over the Boston Bruins Nov. 13 and finished the week by stopping 26 shots in a 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers Nov.15. I've noticed all the Toronto media sites are saying very little if anything about the leaf, especially the pummeling they took in Buffalo. They were probably thinking (hoping, wishing) that the Habs would lose to Detroit last night so the analytics morons could pick on them and deflect attention away form the sad sacks in Toronto.

NHLPA doctors intervened in order to keep Maple Leafs forward Daniel Winnik out of two games following a hard fall that led to him being stretchered off the ice during a game in Colorado on Nov. 6,according to agent Pat Morris.

Further to that, Morris revealed there was even talk of Winnik returning for the third period of that game, which, given the seemingly violent nature of the impact sustained in the fall, seems unthinkable."

And people wonder why platers don't want to go there.

  104. As I've said before I have many leaf fans for friends (sorry, grew up in the GTA!). Four of them are right now having a very long talk on facebook about how the leaf ownership doesn't care about the fans and only cares about profits. Only took them 15 years to figure it out! Anyway, the guy who's wall this is happening on is the one who bought 2 $100 tickets to see a pre season leaf game, then resold them to another guy he's talking to there when he couldn't go. Another one was just bragging about his new $180 leaf jersey (forget the name on back, who cares).

It's just so entertaining to read them talk about how the owners will never ice a winning team as long as they keep making profits, while almost all of them have pics of their very expensive leaf gear as profile photos. It's also hilarious that these guys were talking about a long playoff run just a week or two ago. Also the same guys who post everything they can find to mock the Habs.

leaf fans are sad. I haven't even said anything on that post because at this point what else is there to say?

Cut back to McSlooge, "Yup, the Wings just weren't good." And then another line, the Wings weren't allowed to practice the day before due to the CBA. Too bad, that's why there were so rusty. Anything but any praise to the Habs. Oh, and anyone who doesn't think MT is a great coach is an idiot (agreed by Mellinick, sp?).
