I dissed Lego earlier, but his line got it going... maybe taking boat anchor RBQ off that line helped. Sekac has more skill and more ambition and CHarger has played a heck of a game.

  19. PP-PK time:

    29. WPG -16:47
    30. MTL -36:28

That means when they play on Tuesday, the Habs could get 10 PPs for while given up none, and just barely move out of last place. And we're only 15 games in.

Two seasons ago the Habs led in PP-PK, last season they were #21, and now dead last by more than double.

Tell me again how the broons don't have influence in the NHL head office.

But anyway, the point I wanted to make was that lots of people are talking about how terrible the PP is. Well, first of all when you only get 1.5 minutes of it per game it's hard to find a groove. Second, it wouldn't have made much difference in most of the games so far. A 20% PP would give them a goal every 4-5 games. Nice, but hardly the difference maker when most of your loses are blowouts.

  20. Nice to wake up to a win powered by Lego.

    1. Yeah, good job sticking up for your teammate. Heh. I'm liking N8 more and more.
That said, there was the rumour this week about Lego and he to the Oil for Yak and Jeff Petry. I don't think I'd say no to that trade - Petry's a real dish. And Yak and gCHuk could rekindle their Sting days. But we know how rumours pan out...and really I'd had to lose N8 a la McDonagh.

10-4-1 ain't too shabby. Up to -5 in goal differential. Tied with the Pens in the standings who have a +28 differential. Weird.

  22. Fucking kardri is going to kill someone one day, tell me exactly why his leg is lifted so high to meet Girardi's neck?

    1. As much I think Kadri is a cock what needs shooting - from what I saw on the clip he was going headfirst into the boards - which for him is a good place to be headed and it looks like the leg just followed. So I won't blame him...but just in case the league should suspend him for a week - just to be sure!!

      Delete
    2. I'm not too sure, wouldn't the law of gravity defy his leg lifting up high and staying high when he's falling, esp going in face down, he turns his body and keeps his leg straight up to the top of the boards. Call me kadrispicious.

  24. Breaking: Canadiens place Rene Bourque on waivers

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Maybe someone will claim him off waivers, but who?
If this is where they're leaning:
Rene Bourque buyout from CapGeek.com ( Not sure if this means they can't buy him out before 2015-16?)
      2015-16: $1,666,667
      2016-17: $833,333

      SekaCH earns $925,000.

      Delete
  25. Doesn't he have to clear waivers to be sent to Hamilton...? If that's the case then Sekac is in full time.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, he does but a team can still pick him up till noon tomorrow.

      Delete
    2. If a team does pick him up (doubtful with his cap hit) it would clear up $3,333,333 in cap for DGMB.

  26. Buh-Bye RBQ. Sorry to sound mean, but I don't like floaters. I'm still convinced that he got lucky with some of his shots in the playoffs last year. Didn't most of his goals come against the back up in TB, anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Everybody waive bye-bye to RBQ. Always got the feeling he didn't really want to be here anyway.

I got that same vibe as well. When that whole shitty deal went down they showed Bourque ( who was suspended at the time) on the phone talking to his agent. Speculation at the time was he did not want to leave Alberta...or go to Montreal. Maybe the Flames or BlackHawks will claim him. MB is slowly weeding out the personnel who were acquired by BG and the Goat. Is Lego next?

  29. As for size, Bourque 6'2", 214lbs Sekac 6'2", 195lbs. Some delicious Montreal bouffe should solve that. If Bourque goes to Hamilton, Habs would save $925,000 on the salary cap. Ironically, that's exactly what SekaCH earns.

DGMB is not afraid to pull triggers.
No hemming no hawing. I generally like all the moves he has made.

    ReplyDelete
  32. the Maritimer8:32 AM

GMMB is slowly creating cap space, but why? He let Gio walk, moved Josh and now RBQ. Deal in the works for a big No. 1 center? We can only hope.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If letting RBQ is what was needed to keep SekaCH in the lineup (and it was), good riddance! one decent playoff run does not a career in Mtl make

    ReplyDelete
  34. Per Cap Geek: "Rene Bourque will still count toward the MTL salary cap at $2,408,333 during his time on minor-league assignments."

I actually don't mind MoeMAn on the team. I don't expect him to score goals, he's a fine 4th line guy who can kill penalties and is still a tough cookie. When pickings were pretty slim on the Habs, first Chokula and then eMTy would put him up in the top 6 and that just wasn't right. He and Manny and either CHarger or Bournival make a decent 4th line. Somebody else will have to fill in now, Bowman, Tangradi, maybe DLR will have to be called up. Hmmmm... Tangradi is an ex-Jet, he might have something to prove tomorrow night.

      Go Habs Go!!

    2. Yes I have heard and read that Moeman is great on the PK and does so many little things. So I am not going to go all nuts or start picking on him. I just think on the fourth line we could do better especialy considering the cap.
I stand by my opinion that DDD and Moeman are the only two players we have that do not belong on the first team. Yes they are good backups in case of injury or a bad drug test.

DDD to the Arizona Desert Dogs. Danny Briere got his start there and thrived. Nobody would notice DDD was there at all. Well, maybe the tumbleweeds blowing through the empty arena.

  42. When Moeman inevitably is replaced we should name a new player Moeman. This Andrigetti spaggeti. I hope I have not offened Italians by calling him spagettic. It reminds me of a comic riff not mine. The comic I think was the Indian guy from Brampton Russell Punjabi? Anyway he asks what if we called white people food names like white people call others. Your know eggroll, rice bowl, chopsticks. Hey Mashed potates, hey Big Mac, hey asperougus. So to call Italians spegetti should be taken as a complement. They harvest it with dedication so the world can eat on of the best foods ever. I am sort of off topic. But on FHF there should always be some player called Moeman.

    1. My 2 brothers drove from Fredericton to see this game. One's a broon fan the other a leaf fan. I assume my mother did a lot of drinking during those pregnancies. I kid Mom (RIP) - I know they were just dropped on their heads. Anyway, my other brother and I have convinced our nephew (son of leaf fan) to be a Habs fan and he's run with it and loves how it bother his dad. He's with the boys and seeing his first nhl game - too bad it's only broons/devils.

  47. My above comment got me to thinking. I've only seen the Habs live once and that was at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1987. The Habs demolished the leaf 10-2 or so. I know they had 10. Mats Naslund, my favourite Hab at the time, scored 4 or 5 points. The other details are fuzzy (as 27 HOLY CRAP years have passed...)

    2. My Dad took me to 1-2 games a year in the middle to late 70's - we always sat in the whites on the corner in the visitors end of the Forum. I remember the last game I went to - against the Oilers - must have been around 1980 - we sat right behind the Edmonton bench - never heard a grown man cry as much as Gretzky! I had never heard the word Mutherfucker either! So I owe some of my vocabulary to Wayne Gretzky.! Never been to the Bell and sadly during my secondment in tranna I went to several Habs leaf games at MLG - but never the ACC

  52. I just wanted to comment on Saint Paddy's comment above about seeing the Habs. I was lucky enough to see the Habs at the Forum many times, but I was too young to really appreciate (or really remember) it. I don't remember any specific games from that time (mid to late 80s). I have seen several games at the Molson centre as an adult, and most of them have sucked. One I went with a Ranger fan and the Habs blew a 3 goal lead in the 3rd to lose (2003-ish), and then the last two they've been shut out. Seriously.

I did get to also see a couple of games at Maple Leaf Gardens. Nice building, actually. Too bad about the team. Never been inside the ACC. Too bad about the team.

  53. After the broon's win tonight I was concerned that they were getting hot and right behind the Habs. Then I had a quick look at their schedule.

The've only played one playoff team from last year in the last 3 weeks. That was Minny, who is going through struggles. In fact, against team that made the playoffs last year, the broons are 2-5. The Habs are 6-2 against such teams.

By the end of the month, the broons will have 4 more games against playoff teams. The Habs will have 7 more (two of those are against each other).

Basically, I'm not that worried. Yet.
