Great SF Moeman. PFK and the trailer park boys is Canada today.
ReplyDeleteand I think Johnny might have pulled out his Jackson in Jackson
DeleteNice work moe. In the spirit of Sexy Friday, I submit the wonderful Dolly Parton. I was in a grocery store the other day and they were playing her version of I Will Always Love You, and tonight I'm listening to some of her songs. Just got imagining I was Kenny and belting out Islands in the Stream with my headphones on. Funny story, that's sort of a family song with me and my sisters, except it's totally an Arrested Development moment with Afternoon Delight. We just change "lover" to "brother/sister" and "making love to each other" to "making fun of each other". It's too good of a song to give up.
ReplyDeleteJust to repost from last thread:
ReplyDeleteRe: moe's thoughts on a Beliveau Trophy. Here's what The Great One thinks (and this was 2.5 years ago):
“I know Conn Smythe (the original owner of the Maple Leafs) is important to the history of our game, but I think if you’re going to make this change it should be a change to someone extraordinary,” said Gretzky. “There’s no question Jean Beliveau epitomizes everything about our sport: Getting your name on the Stanley Cup, playing well all season long and being a pressure, impact player in the playoffs.”
http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/2012/06/04/stanley_cup_wayne_gretzky_touts_renaming_conn_smythe_trophy_after_jean_beliveau.html
Perhaps it's time now for the NHL to really start thinking about this. But that would mean one of their precious leaf being removed.
Happy SF, FHFers. Love the Montreal / Chicago pic, very apropos.

On a personal note, I'm on Day 5 of quitting smoking *pauses for applause*. Not really.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually the 2nd time I've quit. I smoked from 14-24, then decided one night to quit after I was out of breath getting my laundry from the basement before bed. I didn't have another smoke again for 8 years until Christmas Eve 2011 here in Seoul. I had two while very drunk, and then proceeded to vomit all over the lone bar toilet. Not being easily discouraged, over the next few months I smoked here and there while enjoying beverages until it became full on again in mid-2012. But with the Ebola I've contracted this week (I shouldn't joke about that) I decided enough is enough. So since Monday I've been on 1 smoke a day, an extra light from a pack a friend left here a couple of weeks ago. I did cold turkey last time, but after dinner KILLS me. Hey, if I could keep it to 1 a day forever I'd be happy.
It was just so easy in Korea. Packs here are $2.50, you could smoke anywhere, everyone smokes (well, the men). But Korea changes fast and since January you can't smoke inside anymore and next year packs are going up to $5 (I hear smokers in Canada laughing...and then coughing). They even have non-smoking zones, like whole neighbourhoods. Gangnam, from Gangnam Style fame, is non-smoking. Like, on the street, in parks, anywhere. Around every bus stop in the city, so like every 10 feet, there are stickers on the ground announcing you can't smoke on that block. You can't smoke within 100m of schools. Not that the police enforce any of this (or anything else), but societal pressure has totally shifted in literally 12 months.
A year ago the fathers of graduating students at my school were smoking and drinking beer in the hallways of our school during class hours, while classes were in session. Now I laugh about it while we prepare for this year's graduation and my co-workers act like we're talking about segregation in the South.
The thing is, I like smoking. Always have. Mom smoked while pregnant, parents smoked while growing up, everyone I knew smoked in my life until I was 20 or so. Love it. Fantastic. Never wanted to quit the first time until that one night, didn't want to quit again till this week. Even when I didn't smoke I would dream about it and admit that if they announced the world was ending tomorrow I would smoke a whole carton. But in real life it's just stupid. Waste of money and health. And as a traveler, smoking is such a pain in the ass. And for what? You really might as well be an alcoholic or drug addict. At least then you get high.
I actually don't smoke during the day through the work week because I don't want to do it around kids obviously. But when the Habs are playing on the weekends I tend to indulge a lot because for some reason I always feel stress. Tomorrow's game will be a test. I have gum and mini chocolates prepared (last time it was mini carrots, but they don't have those here). Luckily (?) my chest is still on fire so it makes it easier.
I'm just typing to keep my hands busy. There is a really good masturbation joke here, but this is a family site. Thanks for reading. GO HABS GO!
Have you ever tried smoking dope? Go to the Gekko in Itaewan and ask for the Steve special.
DeleteHaha. Yeah I've "thought" about it. AKA I go to Thailand once a year and Canada as well. That never did anything for me the first time quitting, it actually made it harder than drinking (opposite to others I know).
DeleteI'm drug tested annually, and pot stays in the system a good while. I could do crack and be good a week later, but pot gets you fined, jailed and deported. Korea is the only developed country that can charge you for merely having it in your system.
Not that I am admitting to smoking pot ever, NSA spies. Or the Korean equivalent.
Did you try an e-cig? Get a good one and learn how to use it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know them and they're pretty cheap here. Lots of people I know use them. Not for me. All or nothing, unfortunately. Just like how I can't go to the casino and put down 20 bucks. All or nothing.
DeleteThis is lots of fun, gCHuck vs KidG in "Who Knows You Best?"
ReplyDeleteChoice lines:
1) KidG: "How tall am I?"
gCHuck: "Like on NHL.com or in real life?"
KidG: "In real life"
gCHuck: "With high Nike shoes or without them?"
2) KidG: "What number did I wear at the World Juniors?"
gCHuck: "Who cares, but uhhh....You guys didn't play in the finals so it's tough to say..."
KidG: "You had to wear it once so you should know"
gCHuck: "17?"
KidG: "12!"
gCHuck: "Well, didn't really wear it with pride so I didn't really care what number it was"
Love these two. Love seeing how competitive the guys are in these videos. My favourite is still gCHuck with Vodkov. Scary old vet who barely speaks English with new young kid.
"How many tatoo I have and what are they mean?"
"Uhhhh....two. And...meaning is...personal?"
"Exactly."

OMG how great is that video, thx
DeleteKid: What game do I play on my iPad?
gCH: Candy Crush
Kid: Correct
gCH: Nerd
That was fun. Bonus, I got a Nicorette ad.
DeleteGreat SF Moeman - nice ones all 'round! I am somewhat concerned about this weekend but will reserve judgement. I am really most concerned about the picture 6 from the end...WTF? 3 breasted? I am confused...please help!!
ReplyDeleteGo Habs Go!!
That was taken on Mars.
Delete*total recall*
City of Montreal is asking the police to wear their uniforms for Jean Beliveau's funeral.
ReplyDeleteThey agreed.
DeleteRespect.
Wait, just googled this and I'm still confused. Are the Montreal police on strike again?
Deletepressure tactic for months. they've been wearing "alternate unis" to protest Coderre cuts to civil servant pensions
DeleteSpeaking of Mayor Coderre, I saw him on A/C and pj stuck said I love it when the habs win a few playoff games, Coderre said, of course, you don't have a team. BTW were you traumatized in life? get hit with a stick? I think you had a concussion or 2 didn't you?
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best, George.
ReplyDelete"It’s been an honor to play in the greatest league in the world. Thanks to the organizations I've had the good fortune to play for, especially to the Samueli and Molson families,” Parros said in a statement. “I've had the most amazing support from all of the fans who have supported my many endeavors throughout my career, for that I am eternally grateful. A final thank you to my parents Jim and Lynne, my wife Tiffany and my children who have made this dream of mine a reality.”

I still think the biggest loss for our Habs was Gallant.
ReplyDeleteOne of those who was obviously touched by the death of Le Gros Bill was Darryl Sittler, who was in the ACC press box on Thursday night. “Growing up in St. Jacobs (Ont.), I remember getting a Beliveau jersey when I was five. I wore that thing everywhere,” Sittler said ... Sittler’s fondest memory of Beliveau: “On the day of my wife (Wendy’s) funeral, he called me to give me his sympathies. That shows how much class he had.”
ReplyDeleteHappy SF all. Interesting thing about Sittler - I had read that he had grown up a Habs fan, but wasn't sure. He was picked 8th overall by the leaf in 1970. Imagine how his life would have been different had he been picked #5 or #6 where the Habs chose G Ray Martinyiuk (never played a game) and Chuck Lefley. Of course, considering the butterfly effect, had he become a Hab, maybe things would have ended differently in the 70's and the Habs wouldn't have been so dominant.
ReplyDeleteSittler was hard to dislike, so for my generation of hockey watching, even though he and many leaf were crammed down Canadian's throats by, you know who, Sittler always rose above the inanities of being a leaf.
DeleteI always felt sorry for Sittler, playing for a crap team with a nutjob owner. They traded his best friend and linemate "Machine Gun" Lanny McDonald out of spite. Sittler finished his career with the Phuckers and Detroit, I would have welcomed him with open arms to the Habs and he was classy enough to have fit in.

I am not sure why we love Dsyon Bowman so much? In any event we could call him Dyson, or HAL.
ReplyDeleteDave Bowman: Hello, HAL. Do you read me, HAL?
HAL: Affirmative, Dave. I read you.
Dave Bowman: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
HAL: I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Dave Bowman: What's the problem?
HAL: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Dave Bowman: What are you talking about, HAL?
HAL: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
Dave Bowman: I don't know what you're talking about, HAL.
HAL: I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.
Dave Bowman: [feigning ignorance] Where the hell did you get that idea, HAL?
HAL: Dave, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.
Dave Bowman: Alright, HAL. I'll go in through the emergency airlock.
HAL: Without your space helmet, Dave? You're going to find that rather difficult.
Dave Bowman: HAL, I won't argue with you anymore! Open the doors!
HAL: Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.
Kind of a late start for me tonight, think I'll set the PVR to record the game. I hope they put in a better effort tonight in Mr. Beliveau's memory. Go Habs Go!

ReplyDeleteShots are 14-10 Habs? Huh?
ReplyDelete14-12
DeleteAt least they're looking better than the last game and they did score in the first period.
ReplyDeleteKinda obvious who the more talented team is. The first period numbers for the Habs are just plain ugly, seems to be SOP this season.
ReplyDeleteStill think it's hilarious that the Ducks have a guy named Fowler.

ReplyDeleteAt 2-2, shots were 20-20, now 3-3 shots are 28-28.
ReplyDeleteA lot of these offside calls against the Habs are complete BS. I just watched that one on slow mo three times, not even close to an offside. I can't even decide who the linesman was saying was offside.

DeleteFOR FUCK SAKES 25 secs left FOR FUCK SAKES
ReplyDeleteUnfucking believable.
ReplyDeletefor fuck sakes.
ReplyDeleteSad to say, totally saw it coming. Habs were by far the better team since the start of the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteThey were better in the 1st than as of late, even scored in the 1st.
DeleteThese fucking refs...
ReplyDeleteSorry,they deserved a better fate.
ReplyDeleteShots 41-36 for the Habs even with all the PK they had to do.
ReplyDeleteIt's not all on the refs, but that phantom call on PK at the start of the period that tied it up was fucking BS, and then they ignore all the shit by the hawks afterwards.
ReplyDeleteHabs deserved better.
FUCK!
And the fall from grace continues. How soon till they're battling for a playoff spot? Christmas? New Years?
ReplyDeleteSee you guys in Dallas. The team that has given up the most goals in the league. 4-0 Stars.
ReplyDeleteThey showed up to play, though I would have liked them to win, I'm happy their effort improved.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the league will review the boardings.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
DeleteThanks juce. Needed a laugh.
Roy pulled his goalie with 14 minutes left tonight. Down 5-1. It...didn't work.
ReplyDeleteDD hasn't scored a 5on5 goal in 50 games. Our #1 center, ladies and gentlemen.
ReplyDeleteCanadiens Montréal @CanadiensMTL · 9 hrs 9 hours ago
ReplyDeleteCanadiens recalled tonight forward Sven Andrighetto from Hamilton. He will join the team in Dallas.
Meh. Bad luck on the last goal with the partial block by Patches and off of Markov to the Hawk stick. Played well against an obviously better team. TFS mind you kept it from being an 8-3 game.
ReplyDeleteThe sportsnet intermissions are painful, but gotta hand it to Chantal for ratting out the poor calls and trying to get the likes of Shannon and Rich fucking Sutter (why?) to pretend like they care that the Habs are being screwed.
Finally, sure would be nice to have a guy like 20¢ on the team. That guy's got mad skills and blood that only refs can see.
Good comment re: the panel. Sutter is better than pj suck at least.
DeleteGood morning FHFers, what a heart breaker last night! I watched the 3rd period this morning and was praying for them to make it to OT, alas, it was not meant to be. I know we are getting a bit frustrated with how our team is playing lately but let's look at a few facts. The Canadiens as currently constructed are probably not true contenders and are definitely not an elite team like several of the Western conference squads. They don't as yet have a "Dynamic Duo" (a la Batman and Robin) like Toews and Kane, Crosby and Malkin, Getzlaf and Perry, etc. Maybe in the next year or two the pundits will be talking about Galchenyuk and Pacioretty similarly, time will tell. In the meantime, let's look to the west and look upon the absolute horror show of the Edmonton Oilers and what they have done to their 1st overall and other high end draft picks to see what not to do with your young prospects. If MB and MT say that N8 and TinTin are not ready, then so be it. Let them get their ice time in Hamilton and if they are dedicated to becoming better, they will. Montreal will carry on with their geezers (PFK and (Y) excepted) on D and let the chips fall.
ReplyDeleteI think we all got our expectations raised too high with the deep run in the playoffs and the unexpected ascension to the top of the NHL standings earlier. They can probably still contend for the Atlantic division title and that is acceptable. There is still lots of rebuilding to be done with this team. Hopefully, with the unfortunate injury to Lego, AG27 will get some center ice time and I'm kind of looking forward to 'Ghetto playing tonight.
Go Habs Go!
Sergei Gonchar made history on Friday.
ReplyDeleteThe veteran defenseman scored a second-period goal during the Montreal Canadiens' 4-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, becoming the oldest player (40 years, 236 days) in the history of the franchise to record a goal, according to the NHL.
