I've been boycotting leaf Central at Noon lately... just 'cause they piss me off most of the time but after another leaf collapse I thought I would check out what bullshit they'd be spewing...

Mallet head, fried man and moron-son were the so-called "hockey experts" today and they may be finally waking up to the fact this version of the blue and white idols of millions may just not be any fucking good. Maybe it's not the coaches or the coaching, it's the players who are failures and can't or won't play defence. They are also sad that their second favourite team in the whole universe, the Boston broons aren't as good as they are supposed to be, other teams should fear them and cower in defeat when they come on the ice, Montreal wasn't supposed to win last spring in the playoffs, blah blah and blah. I used to think these people knew more than me. As I've grown older it's become obvious they only think they know things, it's all a fucking sham and they are guessing just like ordinary people do.

If anyone is interested there is a great piece written by ex-NHL referee Paul Stewart at hockeybuzz (I know) where he destroys ultimate broon fanboy and shithead Jack Edwards. Worth the time.

    1. Good stuff the M.

Just wait, after one more leaf win these CotU mediots will be parading with the rest of the leafools. I'll never understand that these wads completely refuse to see that there is/are 29 other fucking teams but the funniest thing they spew is that leafools don't 'deserve' this. WTF! does that even mean?

  5. In other news, the Spengler Cup referees' "Swiss milk cow" jerseys are my favourite things ever

  6. In other other news, I was downtown today and there were A LOT of World Junior tourists out and about. A whole group of guys wearing Canada jerseys with beers in their hands. Like not even bottles, they had mugs with draft in them. A guy in a USA jersey who as wearing no coat, gloves, or hat or anything in -10ish weather. Pretty cool.

    GO CANADA GO

  7. Team Canada just iced its QF at the Spengler Cup with an EN goal. I don't know why I care but I do. Put a maple leaf on any shirt in any tournament and I care

  9. Should be fun hearing what the old cockroach windbag will say about tyed daahmee's kid wagging his tongue. Can't say we've seen any of his disliked 'Euros' doing that. To think PFK shot an arrow and well blasphemed! (see today's ♥ Habs ♥).

  13. Caught the Habs vs. broons 1979 classic playoff the other night. Watched it end to end and my what a pleasure to relive such a great game. Weird how one's brain puts the older (better) games into today's context. I kept seeing PFK in Big Bird's place, I watched Lafleur skate on the wing, shoot and make plays and wondered what gCHuk would look like with long blond extensions, I loved LemaiRRRe's solid two-way play, Dryden was fearless, reminding me of TFS™, I could even stand watching tremblay and houle despite knowing they would fuck up the future. All in all, that team played some cool, collective hockey. Oh yeah, cherry looked as good in velvet as Constanza did in his track suit.

The Habs have won five of the past six games, but they are really pushing it in terms of leaning on G Carey Price. The Toronto Maple Leafs are the only team in a playoff spot with worse puck-possession numbers than the Canadiens (using score-adjusted Corsi) and defying the underlying numbers is a hard way to sustain a winning record.
    Key Injuries: None.

    2. Have I ever mentioned how much I despise thus fucking CORSI bullsit. This is the system that gave us people like Jacque Martin behind the Habs bench. A fucking bollocks system invented by people to kill the game. Buttman jerks off nightly to those five letters painted on his ceiling. Fuck off with your CORSI ratings.

  27. Wow, that was very very not interference. The puck is in the net, then Ward runs into gKid, which even if the puck wasn't already in the net, didn't have anything to do with his ability to move or save the puck.

  39. Just finished watching 2nd and 3rd on delay. Yay! Close one at the end, almost got ChrisLee-ed. What a move by cakeS. I was eating a sandwich and literally spit it out on that one! I know it was an EN, but nice shot by Patches on that angle to sew up the W.

  40. I didn't see this posted here, but Lego's goal was the 21,000th in Habs history. If you made a highlight reel of every Montreal goal ever scored and it averaged 4 seconds of video per goal, you'd spend 24 hours watching Les Glorieux potting goals.

    1. I caught that somewhat, but my brain was too slow to register the stat posted on RDS at the bar - if I was home, I would heard clearly or have paused to let my brain to translate.

  41. Looking at the standings, Panthers (6th) are 10 points behind TB (1st) but with 5 games in hand. So in theory, they could be tied at the top with the Bolts if they were to win all those games. Hope the boys don't underestimate them tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Also, Habs now have the best GAA in the East. Only team that has allowed less than them are the Rangers, but they've played 3 less games (and only 1 less GA).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ok, so NHL.com has completely different numbers for GA than TSN does for every team. So...I'm confused. In any case, Habs are either 1st or barely 2nd in GA in the East. Considering all those early blowouts, that's great.

      Delete
    2. Not sure, did you happen to notice how freaking long it took for NHL to update the standings last night with only 2 games in the entire league playing? Why does the 'keeper of the entire league stats' take so long to update?

    3. Orangeman, I depend on you - as someone who is mathematically CHallenged, I always look forward to your insight, you are (oFHFicially ) the FHF? (my) stats sensai.

  43. Yippee! Waking up to a Habs win and a leaf loss is a beauty way to start my day. Watched the highlights - I am concerned about the lack of shots agin...less than 20 shots is never very good. Great game by TFS and I loves me some cakes too! Back to back games for the Habs...but will anyone notice...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Lots of hair being torn today over lack of SOG. Relax its the regular season. The boys are coasting along behind Carey until the real games start. This team is way better than last years and it went far.
