I thought those guys didn't like Saku? They never wanted him to be captain. Why would they be doing a documentary?

I figure Desharnais is the next captain.

  3. I am still trying to get my head around TFS not playing Saturday night. I know the overall policy is that Toker plays the second of B2B games but doing that after 5 days off and a loss made no sensre...then I remember that this is Therrien we are taking about and I understand why...and just like that I am back to where I was last year and where I vowed not to go this year...which really pisses me off - but I am not a leaf fan so I cannot sit on my hands and accept something because someone who obviously doesn't know better deems to be correct. I will call a spade a spade and Therrien is a fucking spade! He has outdated coaching methods that will never allow the Habs to properly flourish they way they are capable of. He destroys the youth of the team that DGMB has built up - so much so that he has now resorted to bringing in veterens who are on their last legs and who will do as they are told for the sake of one more year. But he is killing Cakes and Gally and Lego and we can't let it continue. The Habs need to turn it around on one of their trickiest road trips of the season...I am worried...

Now so that I am not being totally negative, I had originally called for the Habs to go 10-4 in November - they went 8-6 - (but if they had beaten the Sabres as they should have I would have been right on target! Two months in and the Habs are 2 points off my 118 point pace prediction for the year - which I will take! There is a lot of good things to be happy with on this team and at this point they need to win in spite of who's behind the bench. Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!!

I have to say I'm not in agreement with GMMB picking up these older defencemen. I'm glad they kept Weaver, he is great on the PK (a specialist) and good for very limited minutes as a 5/6 guy. I didn't mind him picking up Gonchar, he seems to have helped (Y) recover his game, but Byran Allen? I understand MB wanted to get rid of RBQ's contract and in the salary cap era you usually have to take a bad contract back. But Allen is not better than TinTin or N8. He's almost as slow as the USS Hal Gill. I believe this is MT whispering in MB's ear... "I need veterans to win now, I can't win with rookie defencemen." Well, guess what moron you're not going to win anyway because you're too fucking stubborn to change up your PP. You just lost twice to a bottom feeder but keep doing what you're doing, I'm sure it's part of your plan. What ever that is.

  9. Can I be honest for a second . I just watched Fury a few days ago and it affected me like most cannon blasts.
EMty is part of our lives like a clogged up expressyway who will one dany agree to HOV long after the performace cars just died. We are lucky to have three players on this team with elite talents. First is TFS. TFS is us we are him and that is sad.
Second is PFK, this boy is not yet a man but he will get there someday. Third is Patches when not carring around DDD he can fire the puck with respect. Watch Fury and you know about roles. When its a matter of life or death, its not enough to fire the cannon. You must have a target and trajectory suitable to the mommnet, Patches has that.

The rest of the crew is a smorasboard you could pick up at any NHL buffet. gCHuck looks pretty good, but he is no phenomem. Gallager is like a piston still working when the hemi bought the farm.
Lego I like very much. You can buy him in Walmart every day sometimes on discount.
Do not get me wrong. I love all our players like Guy Lafleur. But the reality is that hockey
has becoime a chess game, and if you want to change the board
    its easy.

HELLO EVERYONE! Did you miss me? Spent the last week in the grand old USofA celebrating thanksgiving with my US relatives. SO much food! I will be dieting until Christmas.

I vaguely heard that the Habs managed just 1 point from the Sabres and Y(E) got fined for trying to maim his old captain. Is that accurate?

The Avalanche traded Parenteau for Daniel Briere in the offseason after knee injuries forced him to miss 25 games last season.

"I kind of knew my days were numbered here after the year," he said. "It's a business nowadays. I'm really happy where I am right now. It couldn't work any better for me. I'm playing for the Montreal Canadiens in my hometown so I couldn't ask for a better scenario. I'm really, really happy right now."

He also said he went out with some of his former teammates last night, let's hope he didn't indulge too muCH, what with that altitude and all.

So a win today/tonight would be a nice send off because I don't know if I'll make it to this weekend. Or I'm just a big sucky baby who enjoys being melodramatic. Just hope I can contort myself enough to actually see the game.

Not sure if this has been posted before. Apparently RBQ feels he wasn't given a chance in Montreal this season, and was glad to get out. Also, he is glad to be in the Western conference because he plays a much more physical game. Go Habs Go!!

  73. Just had a look through TB's sched just out of curiosity. It's pretty strange, and may result in some movement in the division.

-They don't play a Western team all of December.

-They only play teams over .500 three times in December (Pensx2, Islesx1)

Looking more, they don't play a Western team from Nov 22~Jan 15, and don't visit one from Nov 11~Feb 3. TB and MTL have both played 10 games against the West thus far. After this 4 game road trip through the Central division, Habs come home to VanCity and LA, with the Ducks later in the month.

Everyone will play everyone else, not saying it's not fair or anything. But whatever happens in the division we should remember the schedule. The Bolts have every game in Feb against the West with some tough road trips.

Also, where the hell did the Wings come from? 3 pts back with 2 games in hand? I did see them sneaking in there.

    ReplyDelete
  74. And for those of you who went to bed and missed it, the Oilers gave up to SHGs...on the same PP. We can only hope they get desperate and frustrated enough out there to give us Yakupov for a bag of pucks. Or DD, if they're willing to take him. gCHuck and Yak together would be nice.

  75. the Maritimer11:30 AM

Good morning all. A nice and kind of unexpected win, both teams were a little sloppy in their own end, Price made two game savers at the end with the Avdicks goalie pulled. So, give Carey props for the win. The more I see of Sekac the more I like him, great effort every shift, lets call him the anti-Bourque. Patches has turned into quite the sniper. He doesn't go to the net like KidG, but he doesn't have to. He's not going to get the greasy goals, he's a shooter who can pick spots sort of like Mike Bossy, who was the best I ever saw for that. Max isn't that good but he's going to get better. Max is also as good a scorer as Phat Phil and plays a 200 foot game but the CotU leaf suckers will never recognize him or use a Patchestracker (tm). One thing I noticed last night was Weiss gets quite a few shifts with Max and DD, he always seems to be on the ice when Max scores. I'm guessing MT doesn't completely trust PAP lat in a game and rightly so. Weiss is an impressive player, many thanks again to Torts and Gillis. Tom Gilbert is better than Bryan Allen, please recognize this MT and JJ.

I watched this game on the PVR this morning, despite knowing the score and enjoyed it. I was completely stress free the whole time. After the Habs game I was watching the Oilers replays, what a fucking mess that bunch is. I wonder what it would take to get Yak out of there? Seems the Oilers are interested in maybe moving him and I think he would be a good fit with gCHuk. I'll bet kigG with his cap friendly contract and a defenceman like TinTin or N8 would get it done. Does anyone else think he would be worth it?

    1. I'm not into advanced stats, but those who are:

"Max Pacioretty has become one of the most prolific and consistent goal scorers in the NHL, and with 99 goals in his past 222 games since the beginning of the 2011-12 season, he's averaging close to 37 goals for every 82 games played.

So far this season, the Montreal Canadiens forward is on pace to come under the career-high 39 goals posted last season. His shot rate, however, is up, meaning he could be in line for a bump in production at some point this season that could put him over the 40-goal mark.

Pacioretty ranks fourth among forwards with a minimum of 100 minutes played after averaging 12.55 shots per 60 minutes this season. With 96 actual shots on goal through 26 games, he's in line to top 300 shots for the first time in his career.

He also leads the league with 77 shots on goal at even strength (nine more than Alex Ovechkin), lending further evidence to the fact that he's one of the top offensive players and one that fantasy managers should target to acquire, if possible."

    2. On paper KidG and and N8 for Yak would be a steal. However no questions about the CHaracter of KidG and while Hudon, Little Stumpy or that Swiss Aman might fill his place nicely who knows. If N8 where given a chance to develop and not fucked over for evey mistake he may be a better player than Yak. Tin Tin to me is almost untouchable. We need that kind of big D and the fact he can drop them a big bonus. Yak seems better suited to the leaf where he can play a one dimensioal game and never worry about winning. He also strikes me as a cap killer even if successful. I can see him going KHL when his entry level expires if he does not get the big deal.

      Delete
    3. the Maritimer1:05 PM

If he stays healthy, Max gets 40+.

The Yak has got a questionable rep, but he's playing in a fucked up organization. With all the Russian veterans in Montreal, I'll bet they could turn him into what he's supposed to be: a first line scoring winger. I can't see a Big TiTs flop in his DNA.

  79. No thanks to Yak. Eberle though.
I'd trade Eller, Tintin, Gilbert, a first and a second for Eberle and their first. I'd even swap out Tintin for Emelin if that's what it would take. I don't know if this is correct value, but the point is that I think when the Oil deal (and they will have to soon), the key is throwing in that first pick. It's obviously useless to them anyway.

A true legend has passed away. Honoured to say I wore the same colours as the man.. Condolences to the Beliveau family

  92. What a loss to the hockey world, never will there ever be such an athlete and a gentleman of sports,as we and the entire hockey world knows.

My son may not realize how fortunate he was to meet him and have such a treasured memory from our greatest Canadien ever.

  93. You know what's funny, I just read the other day that Beliveau was offered the Governor General position in 1994 but turned it down. I kind of forgot about it until I read about it again just now. I don't know why that's funny. I guess I meant interesting. I'm still really drugged up from my cold and now it's all emotional and stuff. I know my dad will take this hard, just like when the Rocket passed away.

Rest in peace Mr. Béliveau. A life of classiness that we can all strive to emulate.

  95. RIP Jean Beliveau - the world is a poorer place this morning without you in it. You were the first Habs captain I saw raise the Cup. Forever in our hearts and minds
