  4. And now we're onto crying over the back2back for the Islanders. They've had a whole 8 this season! SO UNFAIR! Wait, the Habs have had 10. And they just had one too. But let's not mention that. Especially not on the network that is supposed to represent them.

    1. No no, you're looking at it wrong. They're concentrating on defence, and thus they are succeeding. You have to set up goals and meet them. Also, it's unfair that they're expected to play road games. Also, they've played a lot of games this week. Also, the teams were tough and it's unfair that they're expected to play them. Also, if you read TSN you'll learn that every goal scored against them on this trip should have been disallowed. The list goes on, but my fingers are getting tired.

Someone needs to explain to me how a team that has been shit since we all were babies is suddenly important. It wasn't important when Harold Ballard was milking it for all he could. It wasn't, strangely enough, important when Ken Dryden had his breakdown and got involved with the franchise (I have never been able to explain his involvement any other way)...and it isn't today. The only reason it is important is that some of the people running Rogers think that if the leaf doesn't win no one will watch their channels broadcasting the leaf games. They have not woken up to the fact that the majority of Canada Are hockey fans. leaf fools will remain deluded forever. They cannot be helped or saved so duck I say...fuck 'em!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!! EVERYBODY AWAKE NOW? MOEY!!! YOU HUNGOVER?????

That was fun. First, really, really enjoyed American Sniper, Bradley Cooper is worthy of some kind of Oscar consideration. Clint Eastwood still directs a great movie. Onto hockey...

I decided to PVR the game and when I came home, checked the score, saw the Habs were leading and decided to watch it from the first. They were sloppy at times but took advantage of a tired Islanders team that Sportsnet couldn't say enough good things about. I watched the intermissions as well and as was pointed out even Strombo couldn't keep the leafools at bay. Oh well, like moe says fuck'em.

I noticed Moey and Orangeman were disagreeing on the merits of the current coach, all I'll say is: Moey was right about gCHuk, he was taking a beating and most of it was his own fault. He was trying too hard to break out of his scoring slump and reverting to some junior hockey habits, so I don't blame the coach for moving him back to the wing, it was probably for his own good. Good ol' DD played a darn good game last night, kudos to him. Regarding the coach, I've agreed to not trash him anymore, but I still don't like him or some of his methods. One thing I have noticed, no matter how many blunders PFK makes now he doesn't get benched anymore and I suspect Bergevin had something to say about that. BTW, PFK played a fucking great game last night.

We are in the dog days of winter now, and as the season winds down I fully expect to see some stinkers by the Habs once in a while but they seem a be a fairly solid group who, barring some catastrophic injuries to key players, should be playoff bound. Also, Marc Bergevin is a proactive GM who will be looking to improve the team by March 2nd. Now, I have to go find some leaf scadenfreude, shouldn't be too fucking hard this morning. Hee hee!

    GO HABS GO!!!

Many people do not agree with American foreign policy and military power. Maybe they should just pack up and leave the middle east, stay behind their own borders and let the chips fall where they may. It's possible the extremists would leave them alone eventually, but I suspect many minorities over there would not feel very happy about it. It's a complicated subject.

  53. Re: gCHuck getting pummeled at center, I actually agree. Moving him back to wing may be the best thing, I'm not sure because I'm just some random guy watching from afar. But this is but one little piece of a much larger problem. Like I said, even if this was the right decision, even a broken clock is right twice a day. MT is in the NHL, he's not a complete idiot. I'm just saying he's not the best choice for the team, and never would have been (re)considered if not for the French prerequisite. I also don't like the 'subtle' attempt to pacify the fans by 'secretly' releasing that it was a mutual decision. I mean, either you're the coach and you're the one making decisions, or you're letting players (20 year old players) tell you what to do. Or, most likely, you're doing what you want to do but then making up things in order to look good to the public.

But, but, that can't be!! Chicago is an "elite" team don't you know...hnic know-it-alls tell us so, so it must be true.

The same people tell us that Montreal is not an elite team so it must be true, right? I'm confused.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The East is getting a bit crazy. 8 points separate the top 8 teams. Florida looks to be the only other team that might be able to crack the playoffs, but it looks like the standings could end any which way. The good news is that the Habs have games on everyone, and they are also one of very few of those teams that have played more on the road than at home. I still think TB is going to have a rough February. MTL has a busy February, but the competition isn't that bad.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I also want to restate since it might have been looked over last time, the Habs have now played every team in the East and the only one they haven't beaten at least once is TB. They've got 2 more chances.

    2. the Maritimer7:25 AM

I looked ahead a bit as well, it looked like there were quite a few winnable games, bonus, a lot of them are at the Bell. Even if they win their division they won't be an "elite" team according to some people. However, those same people only focus on a certain blue and white shit team so they may not know what "elite" is.

      Delete
  56. Meanwhile, the West is also interesting. All three Canadian teams currently in a playoff position and the way it'll work out, at least 2 of them will likely make it. The Jets are tied with the Hawks now, just 2 pts behind the Blues (though they have a couple of games in hand). If they were in the Pacific they'd be comfortably in the playoffs. Dallas and Colorado coming out of nowhere recently to make a race of it with LA and Calgary for the final wild card spot. It'd be pretty shocking if LA didn't make the playoffs, but they're currently outside looking in.

Anyway, lots of hockey to go. Go Jets, and on a much smaller scale also the Flames and Nucks.

  57. The post game ice cream induced coital tristesse of the win on Saturday night has inspired some fantastic comments. I think it's pretty obvious that Buttman has achieved his nirvana in that there is more or less (in the leaf case) parity in the NHL. Any team can beat any other team on any given night and there are only "elite" teams in the minds of the mediots that have run amok in COTU. The Stars can beat the Blackhawks just like the Sabres can beat the Habs or the Blue Jackets can beat the Pens...the season is very long, the schedules are all over the place, the refereeing is all over the place and the "superstars" can all have off nights. For all the slamming we might do of individuals or groups, they all have their jobs because they have talent. I have been very hard on MT this year - but I know you don't become the coach of the Montreal Canadiens by being a completely useless twat...it has a lot of skill. Same with DDD - he hasn't got to be a top line forward on the Montreal Canadiens by performing oral sex on someone in management. He is a skilled player who can be frustrating when he has off nights. Coaches have off nights too and MT is just too prone to them for my liking.

Moey's comments about leaving off of DDD and MT gave me cause for thought. And then I realised that I should be channeling Juce. I remembered what it felt like to be at the Forum (sorry I have never been to the Bell) and to hear 17,000+ fans cheering Go Habs Go! Go Habs Go!!...it is inspiring for the fans and (hopefully) for the players. It's a tremendous feeling and it was then that resolved to remain positive from here on in. The Habs will win some and they will lose some. They will gain motivation by the positive messages and thoughts we, their fans, share and spread around. And that is all that matters.

  59. WOOHOO PATRIOTS! Sorry I know most you you hate them.
Should be a great Superbowl. I think the Pats will win, but I'm not putting any money on them...

You know the amount of leaf drivel that can be found on the CotU media outlets is mind boggling. I think they're all addicted to self-mutilation and fucking high on endless hope. It's a vicious cycle and one of the few outlets for their agression when they start to come down is the Habs. So we should be good fans and support the poor buggers during their times of withdrawl (going on 48 years now, that's gotta be hell) and ease off. They can't help it. It's gotta be an addiction - there's no other reasonable answer why 98% of the Canadian sports media would fall prey to supporting such a lame and pathetic franchise.

According to multiple reports, the rivals will face off in the NHL's annual showcase at Gillette Stadium on Jan. 1.
A visit to the home of the New England Patriots marks just the third time the Winter Classic will be staged in an NFL stadium, having previously been held at Buffalo's Ralph Wilson Stadium (2008) and Pittsburgh's Heinz Field (2011).
The NHL is expected to make a formal announcement during the All-Star break this coming weekend in Columbus.
Both franchises have experience in outdoor games, with the Bruins hosting the 2011 Winter Classic at Fenway Park. The Canadiens, meanwhile, have played the visitors at two Heritage Classic games including 2003 in Edmonton and 2011 at Calgary's McMahon Stadium.

Well, either that or Buffalo. Because it makes sense that non-playoff teams, one that is just finishing a rebuild, one that is in the midst of one, and another that (should) start one would all swap players. That makes total sense. Everything makes sense as long as it gets the leaf involved in trade talks.

I just hope there's room on the roster for him after Stamkos arrives, and that Babcock likes him. Because even fantasy worlds have to make some sense.

    1. What a blow-hard, I looked at it earlier and couldn't even get through it knowing where he was going.

  77. I should be in bed, but Jen just said we'll be right back with comments from 'the captain'. Should be good.

I imagine Babcock's getting his CV all polished up with great anticipation of joining this useless crew of fucking turds.

  78. Was it 2 or 3 jerseys chucked on the ice tonight? Holy fuck, can you imagine? Celine says it's disrespectable. Analytics show that if you sucked even just 27.3% less, there would be only a 1.4% chance of a leaf sweater being discarded as the trash that it is on your home ice.

  79. Just heard there were 3 jerseys tossed, the guys were removed from the acc and charges laid by the police.

    1. It's about time the police intervene with this terrible team. Oh wait you meant...

  80. And so Clarkson was allowed to regain his balance. The exchanging of fists continued until it stopped. And the folks who run the arena sound system in the alleged centre of the hockey universe cued up the Rocky theme song and showed slow-mo video of the punch-up.
Because, really, what’s better than re-watching David Clarkson’s left fist make contact with the back of Brad Malone’s helmet at three-quarter speed?
At least a celebrity guest was impressed with the minor-league histrionics. Not long after Clarkson did his duty, Chris Hadfield, the astronaut, was handed a microphone to rile up the locals.
“Clarkson showed us how it’s done!” said Hadfield. “Let’s give them some support!”

    Hadfield is a POG.

This fascination with the military goes back to the days of Col. Conn Smythe and his mantra "If you can't beat them in the alley, you can't beat them on the ice." The movie "Net Worth" showed what the NHL and the leaf in particular was all about.

Clarkson has to do something to earn that mega contract. One of the mediots (maybe fried man) pointed out recently Clarkson's contract is bulletproof. It can't be bought out because it is about 75% or more bonuses paid up front. He has a ntc and no movement so he can't be hidden in the minors like Jeff Finger or Colton Orr. The leaf are stuck with him.

Mirtle at the G&M this morning stating that early 30's is now retirement age in the NHL and the leaf shouldn't trade for washed up players like Eric Staal (2 goals last night and a fight with Pylon) who actually can lead a team. I chuckled because I immediately thought of Vodkov and GonCH, 36 and 40 respectively, who look pretty decent on the Habs back end.

leafools can only look on in envy at the Habs and their group of leaders, Price, PK, Patches, Pleks, Markov. Just for Moey: I'd take wee Davey over that fucking rat Kadri any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

    2. ....and that is why Hapro took the Rocket off the 5$ bill and replaced it with space.

  81. When the leafolls trolled the tsn article when Lego was re-signed, I threw this at them. When they bring up the mexicant's contract I try to get it in there too just to show them how smart DGMB is compared to nonis - how one buys out without a cap hit and how the other gives out the worst contract in the NHL.

"Well Clark$on or his agent must have seen the buyout possibility coming because in every remaining season, the vast majority of his salary is paid in signing bonus. When a player is bought out, two-thirds of his salary is paid, but 100 percent of his signing bonus is paid. Of the $31.5 million Clarkson is owed over the next six seasons, $24.25 of it is to be paid in signing bonus money. That leaves just $7.25 million that is subject to a buyout, which means it would cost the Leafs a grand total of $29.1 million, plus 12 years of varying cap hits on the books, through 2025-26 to buy Clarkson out. He's got an NMC and an NTC - enjoy"
