Here's a bullet point for what you missed while dreaming of the Habs being in first place in the Eastern Conference:
  • The Habs are in first place in the Eastern Conference.

  1. Nice ones 29! A great win and I actually thought to myself this morning..."wouldn't it be cool if 29 did a long form after a win"...and presto - here it is. And a nice win it was too...

  7. Some people in the media are/were pretty cool. I caught some segments of Stuart Scott over the years, seemed like a decent, genuine, down to earth cat and unlike some out there, a true professional. R.I.P.

  16. Hey there Canada! Kill 'em Russians (though Canada seems to always have a problem with Russia at the Juniors). The last final I watched was in 2011 when they scored 5 goals in the 3rd to beat Canada 5-3.

  17. Just read that nonsense by Hodge about throwing jerseys, and I think I have a reasonable solution.

If the players believe that the jersey is sacred and it angers them to see the plebs in the stands throw it on the ice, then I say we stop the sale of team jerseys. Heck, let's stop the sale of all products with NHL logos on them! That way the logo will remain safely in the hands of only those who play for the team. Of course this would mean a significant drop in the profits these teams make, which would result in a significant drop in player salaries. But I'm sure the players would be fine with that. After all, they wouldn't be so offended to see their sacred jerseys on the ice after they get paid to float around the ice for 60 minutes for more money those fans make in a year. Sounds totally fair to me!

I also liked one of the comments on that story (it was near the top, I didn't read more than 5). Something to the effect of, "Thumbs down to media types always protecting the ownership that doesn't care about its loyal fans". Is a revolution happening in Toronto? Probably not, but it is true that the only people in Toronto that care about the leaf are leaf fans. If they weren't so deluded and easily manipulated I'd almost feel sorry for them.

"The IIHF said Hockey Canada was responsible for the ticket prices that may have led to empty seats at Montreal's Bell Centre for preliminary games at the world junior championship.

Face-value tickets for games in Montreal started at $71 and ranged to $336 for the New Year's Eve game between Canada and the United States, which drew 18,295 fans.

The capacity of Bell Centre is 21,273.

Just 14,142 fans were in attendance for Canada's opening game against Slovakia on Boxing Day.

Tickets for Canada's first three round-robin games (against Slovakia, Germany and Finland) ranged from $66 to $261.

IIHF president Rene Fasel on Sunday that if those prices were in place for a world junior tournament in Europe, there would be nobody in the arena."

  66. TSN is on KODI but the script failed. So I could not watch the game. However reading the comments was just like being there. I probably would have broken something important seeing Fat Steve getting a blowjob.
Congrats to the UTES on Team Cananda. I did not see the goals so I dont know if Fuckme had a good or bad game, but he won. For sure he is trade bait. I cant see why a team like Edmonton give a first round next year for him. I prefer this to trading Toker. First we will never get a guy with such a great nickname again. Second having a stellar backup is as great as the Enterprise having a redundent saucer section. Tie Domi epitomized all that is wrong with Hockey in Toronto. It made my blood boil, okay maybe only extra warm to read about him walking around the Bell Center like he was an Albainian Godfather from Taken. However his son should not pay for his arrogance. Max Domi has type one Diabetes, something I know all too well. My hat is off to Max for overcoming incredible odds to be not only a top proscpect but for doing it with a huge handicap. He would score 100 goals in the para Olympics.
I can already hear the Crotch Corner celebrating Ontario hockey players. As we should, but we should celebrate hockey players from coast to coast. For a piss ant little country we punch way above our wieght in hockey, and thats beautiful.

Great comment Steve. I agree Toker is the best nickname ever, his teammates call him Ticker for obvious reasons, our nickname could cause problems for him at the airport for instance. I also agree for a sparsely populated country it is tremendous Harper can compete against Obama and Putin and win in anything.

  67. A team is made up of maids and Gekko's all working towards a single goal, the Cup. DDD is the french maid in this hockey porn. Yes he can shake his ass with credibible NHL credentials. But as everyone knows, hey that should be a Leonard Cohen song. As everyone knows a hockey team is a kenetic movie, Navy Seals on ice without weapons. DDD earned a place at the table. However his DNA, not talking about his height or musle triggers has put him in a prvilaged position that makes me think he is the illigitmate child of GHW Bush and the cast of munchines from the Wizard of OZ..
DDD has no pedigre. He was a salvation package from Carbo.

If there was a team to large and needed a small he is a good fit. Montreal struggles continually with the mix. Our little guys need to be world class to win the cup.
We got rid of Gionta whose expiry date had passed.
We have KidG who is still moving forward with a new great shot and slippery skill to bring the puck to the net.
We have Ghetto with serious skill and speed.
We have Carival with great hockey sense and world class speed
Then we have DDD with little bits of all of the above, but mostly great vision.
Down on the farm is another pure wool call Hudon who could be the best of them all.
DDD is a good NHL player. However he is not a good fit as the fifth smurf.

  68. leaf fired Carlyle - like he was really the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I take no pleasure in this anoucment. A well respected hockey player has been assasinated as a coach. Randy Carlye has been done something like beign fired in corporate speak, I am so far away I might as well in the solar system be URANUS
when it comes to people skills. I have been around hockey enough to know there is some kind of new jurispurdice when it comes to the code. In the NFL rookies star. Yes I know they are at least 20 years old and graduated from a very regimented college system. But the culture is not earn your place, the culture is to win.
WIth a goalie like TFS our coach should realize his strenght. Offense, offense offense. TFS can handle the rest.
