Oh Boy, TFS™, the gift that keeps on giving (and of course saving) ~ Preds Game Preview and Open Thread

You, who are on the road must have a code that you can live by.
And so become yourself because the past is just a good bye.
Teach your children well, their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams, the one they fix, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.

And you, of the tender years can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth, they seek the truth before they can die.
Teach your parents well, their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams, the one they fix,the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.

    1. Whether or not that's staged (it doesn't appear so), that is friggin' hilarious. Bruin 'fans' wouldn't recognize their own players walking down the street, except for maybe Frankenchara, Quasi, and Beaker due to their physical abnormalities.

Don't often eat at scuffy's, but that's one burger I'd try. Sounds awesome.

Great tribute to GM Gainey, who unfairly got trashed at the end of his tenure, and of course Carey Price who has proven to be not only a great athlete but an outstanding human being.

I knew Bob Gainey's heart was not in his job after the tragic loss of his daughter and I also believe it affected the whole team, how could it not to see one of the leaders in the organization suffer like that. Looks like Price will be Gainey's legacy and we should be thanking him for it.

  8. Gotta say, I was hoping for Kopitar at that draft. I wasn't really aware of who Carey Price was and was quite surprised when they took this goalie kid 5th overall. Good thing Timmins is in charge...not that there's anything wrong with Kopitar. Gainey may have made some mistakes (*cough Gomez cough), but he more than made up for it with stuff like this and the Rivet trade to bring Gorges and Patches in. And hey, the Habs (i think) have a Buffalo 2nd round pick in 2016 from the Gorges trade, which will be in the range of #31-35 so it's the gift that keeps on giving.

  9. Regarding March Madness, I only signed up for the free SN version. Currently sitting tied at 5466th place! I have Kentucky over Gonzaga in my final, so that could still happen...though will mean nothing. I don't watch a lot of bball, but this tournament is always thoroughly entertaining.

Its like they are collectively crossing the SFU fingers and toes and cocks that the game's best player gets knocked out. Have they ever been like this in regards to Crosby or Toews or Kopitar or Orr?

  53. Delayed again.

This is perhaps one of the most frustrating games of the year. So many chances to put it away, but absolutely no finish. We won't even discuss how they just sit back in the 3rd with a 1 goal lead. Yeah you've got an amazing goalie. But there are crazy bounces like that tying goal, too.

DSP (he hasn't earned the nickname) all alone with under 5 to go and he FALLS!!! Are you kidding me?!

A minute or two left, Markov coming in from the point to blast it over Rinne who's out of the play!!!OMG!!!!

...and he fans on it, it's cleared easily and the Preds put pressure on at the other end.

In OT: It's ok to pass it and let someone else do some work, PK. If you refuse to shoot it as you have recently, there's no point to your dipsy doodling. But fine, he does all that, and then Patches misses the net by 10 feet and it's a give away.

It's a point, against a good team. Fine. But they could have easily won this one if they showed any hockey sense whatsoever. It's so frustrating.

Also, DSP is a total waste of a roster space. What has he done since he got there? But he has "Character" (is that supposed to mean the extra 10 lbs he's carrying around?) so he'll be in the line up no matter what.

GO HABS GO and all that.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh, and I just want to add that I saw TFS get run four times in the 1st alone with no call and no response from the team. Not looking good for the playoffs.

  56. My question here is...When Manny plays, the Habs seem to win. With Mitchell - not so much...So which is the better value? I understand that Mitchell did pretty well on the faceoffs last night...but Manny is still leading the league in Face-off wins I believe...so what do we think?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the Maritimer1:00 PM

Mitchell is definitely quicker, plus he is right-handed which is good in the D zone on the right side...draws the puck into the corner out of danger. I think. I'm okay with either of them playing.

    2. the M. knows. MitCHell has been better than OK.

  57. Ok then...I shall accept the word of the commentariat. So next on my radar is CHip...7.46 minutes last night...was he injured or has he pissed off the coach? What is going on there?

  61. I did a little math and came up with the following:

Habs can clinCH a playoff spot on Thursday night if either one of these scenarios takes place:

    -Habs win, Boston loses.

-Habs lose in OT/SO and Boston loses in regulation.

If they both lose in regulation the best Boston can do is tie Montreal, but there's still the possibility that the broons finish ahead on ROW (the real tie breaker, despite what TSN likes to make up to keep the Habs down).

Basically, I think it works like this:

Broons are #9 now. They are at 84 pts with 9 games left. So, they can get max 102 pts. MTL is at 100. So the magic number is '3', meaning that's how many points, combined, that the Habs need to earn and Boston needs to lose (not 2 because Boston could still technically win on that tie breaker). So, a Habs win (2) + a Boston loss (either -1 or -2) would be enough, or a Habs OT loss (1) + a Boston reg loss (-2).

    Montreal could be the first team to clinCH, unless the following happens;

TB wins (or loses in OT/SO), MTL loses in reg AND Boston loses in reg. In which case, the Bolts would clinCH before Les Boys. And obviously both MTL and TB could both clinCH if they win/lose in OT and Boston loses in reg.

    I like numbers....
