"DAMIEN COX MARCH 16, 2015, 12:26 PM BOCA RATON—Fix the draft lottery? Of course not.
But if you could…well of course you’d give Connor McDavid to the Maple Leafs.
It’s tough sometimes to discern whether the NHL is a sports league or a business, but if it were pure business, putting the game’s next attraction in its biggest market would naturally provide the biggest boost possible.
This isn’t 1985 where everybody could just sit back and laugh at Harold Ballard and the Laffs. The way the NHL’s business is set up now it benefits the owners AND players to have Toronto maximizing it’s revenue potential, which clearly isn’t the case right now.
If the Leafs make more, the pie gets bigger, and both the league and the players get half of that. With Toronto out of the playoffs again this spring, TV ratings, for starters, will take a significant hit, which hurts the Leafs, the league and hits the players in their wallets as well.
Fix the draft? Of course not. But the league’s GMs will be discussing ways to present this year’s draft lottery in a different way over the next few days, and if one of the mock scenarios were to have McDavid land in a Leaf uniform, you can bet that Dave Nonis won’t be the only executive in the room thinking that would be good for business.
What a fucking crock of shit. I suppose the mediots have to give leafools something to read other than another "woe is us" piece like DiManno wrote today.
As for the two goalies mentioned, why sure, give the trophies to two johnny-come-latelies who've played less than half a season, in one case a few weeks. What a fucking moron. Who hires these idiots anyway?
I will repeat myself and in the context of the upcoming draft, "it will get worse before it gets better". If anyone thinks they've seen sick fuck mediots salivating, you ain't seen nothin' yet.
After the game Saturday I was worried about the lway the Habs won. I realise now that they play a system that has, for the most part, worked this season. Not always but mostly. And at this point I suppose it is too late to change that season for this season, so I have to roll with it, cross my fingers and hope for the best. As for tonight, ditto! Go Habs go! Go Habs go!
Notice that since their media can no longer camoulfage how putrid, lazy, talentless and self-entitled their team is that they rarely have pre-games threads for other teams on their network any more? What hasn't changed is trying to get a comment on the post-game threads if you want to counter the laff trolls and say go negative in response.
No disrespect to Stamkos but the tranna cocksucking he gets from the mediots needs to be tampered this season; http://www.swisshabs.ch/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Capture-d’écran-2015-03-16-à-09.39.41.gif
With GM's also looking at diving, Savard says the fines do nothing, they should start by giving the divers 10mins. I don't agree with that, we've seen how some players get called when they did nothing and weren't diving at all.
Maybe the refs need clean up their officiating and do their jobs properly and focus on the game instead of their lists and searching for divers.
I wonder who has gotten into their head and made them this way? Because PK, PatCHes and the others never used to shy away from shooting it. And hey, they had one of the top PPs.
I am dreading waking up tomorrow morning...I don't see any goals tonight. This is what they did for the last 10 minutes against the isles. I hope I'm wrong...but this doesn't feel good at all...
I woke up this morning believing they could win, but 5 minutes into this game I knew they were going to lose. My only hope left for this game is no one (else) gets injured, and Price's stats don't suffer too much.
I think what's most sad on that give away goal is that it was 4on4 and a TB player (Stamkos) wasn't in the play, yet PatCHes still had no play in the neutral zone.
What? Damphouse says the pass was a mistake but says stamkos is intelligent and know that the D rotate and maybe it was him that said 'hey patch" and he passed it Can't really hear on ice when it's RDS so I can't say if anyone even called him for the pass.

RDS showed the replay and stamkos was way off-side (he was actually in Habs end) but since PatCHes technically brought the puck back into his zone, good goal.
Great effort by SuperPleXXXe on that last second forecheck. He's a player, better by far than anybody and I mean anybody on the putrid rotten leaf. Never gets any recognition from the cotu media asshats.
Great analysts provided by sportsnet for a Habs broadcast, homeboy leafer Neil Smith and some twit from nesn in Boston. Are there no ex-Habs available for these broadcasts or is Scott Moore too lazy to go find some? I hit the mute button as soon as the period ends.
I'm with iRiRi, I hate these fuckers and I don't get it why the Habs shit the bed every time they play them. Other than Stamkos I don't see any players who are more talented than the Montreal players. Bishop is a gangly freak of nature but big deal, go high on him.

Has there been a one goal game where Eller didn't take a penalty in the last 2 minutes this season? I actually went back to check, but lost count after six. It's pretty incredible. Having said that, it was all Gilbert's fault. Habs pressing, and breaks his stick YET A-FUCKING-GAIN. Can we agree Gilbert is a waste of time back there, at least offensively?
Greeeeeeeeeat, Toker is in net tomorrow. Sure win!
Don't be crazy juce. The Habs are the best 'defensive' team in the league. That's why they allow the 26th most shots! MT is a genius and we are peasants to question him.
Having said all that, they had their chances but couldn't bury them. Good thing we have 6 4th liners playing instead of someone who can score. Nice moves, MB. Lots of CHaracter! It'll look good on the golf course.
Summary, no hooking call when Patches was going to score, gCHyuk gets a high stick on Bishop which was actually a high stick by strallman, CHarger gets 5 when he didn't drop the gloves and Angelidis cleary came from behind to get in front of him and start a fight CHarger didn't want drawn into and Angelides should have had an instigator (which the refs rarely call anymore and actually look at the roster pre-games and check if any players have previous instigators on them), a knee on knee at the beginning of the game that wasn't called and a shit bogus call on Lego with about 2.5 mins to go and I'm not even sure about an 'interference' on CHarger when Bishop was behind the net. Oh, and an intentional stick to kidG by Namestinky which had nothing to do with the play that he didn't like and let him know about and since kidG knows they won't call it, he has to stick up for himself.
It's not all on the refs but it sure doesn't fucking help matters either.
Well the boys didn't help themselves. That first 4 minute power play and nobody would shoot the fucking puck. Statrted slow and sluggish again. I try not to blame the refs too often for eMTy's failings, but they were horrible tonight. Starting with the first goal. It wasn't vicious, but Filpula crosschecks Markov into the boards before eventually getting the puck back. It's why Markov wasn't in the correct position for a proper block attempt. Not to mention it should have been a penalty. Patches' breakaway - the original stick check was good but then clearly hooked him in the hands. There was a great camera angle right over the refs shoulder that showed it, so he saw it. Lego had position on that late play. The bolt player put his arm across Lego's midsection and grabbed on.
But in the end, they had their chances. They learned they CAN beat the freak of nature in goal. And don't pass to Stamkos. Should be good if they need to meet in the playoffs.
I didn't see Prust's hit on Bishop until now. Was that a penalty? If so, why? If the goalie is playing the puck outside the crease he's fair game. That's the rule.

Oh good, 4 minutes of passing?
Even when they shoot they pass.
ReplyDeletepass, pass, pass, pass, predictable, predictable.
ReplyDeleteThey just won't shoot it. Sigh.
ReplyDeletewell that was terrible
ReplyDeleteThey think too much before they do shoot or pass and the plays become too predictable. PFK should just rip it whenever he has it.
