Can TMS interest you in some long-form video highlights after an OT win?

Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of Emily Ratajkowski in lingerie...
  • Has TMS hijacked this blog just so he could make comments he didn't get to do because he was out last night? Yes. Yes, he has. Not to worry kids he is actully still too pumped to say anything coherent. He will mention that the half-half jersey is now 2-0. Suck it haters. Habs win 3-2 in OT, but you knew that already;
  • Things got ugly out West, as the 'Nucks and Flames got into a 3rd period brawl that ended with 132 minutes of penalties and 7 count 'em seven game misconducts in the 'Nucks 4-1 win;
  • The Caps somehow rode a rookie last minute replacement goalie to a 4-3 win to even their series with the Isles at 1-1;
  • Nashville explodes for 3 in the third to cruise to a 6-2 win and even that series at 1. Hawks have some real goalie issues;
  • Did you notice there is only one team in the playoffs with a 2-0 lead?
  • Cocaine! Ecstasy! Casinos! Erin Andrews! Finally the NHL gets cool, as LA Kings forward Jarret Stoll is arrested following a, uh, pretty crappy season;
  • CotU alert! If the Laffs win the Connor McDavid sweepstakes (tonight at 8 PM on CBC!) TMS may go postal on someone. Please call him a lawyer.
Enjoy your Saturday everyone. Kiss your loved ones.

  3. I just actually read that CBC article on the draft lottery I linked to. It's worse than I thought:

    Toronto Maple Leafs
    Odds of winning lottery: 9.5%
    Why it's good: McDavid in the centre of the hockey universe with an opportunity to exorcise the demons of 1967? Even with all the pressure on the Newmarket, Ont., kid, it's story-book perfection for him to wear blue-and-white.

    I think I'm physically ill

    That's the funny part, they are so stupid and desperate up there they actually believe an 18 year old is going to lead them to the promised land. Oh well, the leafools have to have something to look forward to since they are denied the excitement of playoff hockey unlike Habs fans. The last two games we watched were just amazing. You can feel the intensity through the television.

  5. I will follow TMS' bullet point (dashes, I can't bullet) lead so he doesn't have to keep making new posts.

    -I can't help but feel like the "Suck it haters" line was pointed at me. Probably because I was the one who expressed deep hatred of that jersey, and also because I do enjoy sucking things (still working on the quitting smoking thing). I can take it, and accept the abomination as long as the Habs keep winning. But the first sign of trouble I am demanding a Dresden level fire bombing of the thing. I say this with love (you will have 24 seconds to vacate said jersey).

    -Wasn't that fun? I've been amped all day. For some reason most of my friends are on extended break right now while I'm not (I have the first week of May off instead) so I went to the nearby park today and watched some old men play croquet and then picked up some Mexican food. You read that right. I got real Mexican food in Korea! Also, I think I've been accepted as one of the old men now.

    -I listened to the post game show on 690 and I don't know anyone's name, but one of they guys was saying that he went to the fan jam and didn't feel like the vibe was overly excited. The other guy exclaims, totally sincerely, "Really?! Did you ride the ferris wheel?!"

    -Whenever I look at that pic of Vodkov kissing PK I'm reminded of the common knowledge of how Subban is a selfish player and all his teammates hate him.

    -Speaking of which, did you guys read the Gazette article about Elise Beliveau after the game? She's the grandmother to all the boys, and wants to be in one of the cars for the parade should there be one. Also speaking of which, HIO has a great pic of Jean in the 60s or 70s, hard to pinpoint which Cup win that was exactly (only the Habs...) Off topic, but from that pic: There was a Steinberg's in the Faubourg back then? Jesus Price, my mother used to drag us all the way out to Kirkland for Steinberg's when I was a kid.

    -Is it wrong that I've planned a totally off topic craft day with my students on Monday so that I can half watch the game? No. No it isn't. Thursday is field trip day which I'm not allowed to go on because foreigners aren't trusted with Korean kids outside a classroom. Hurray for xenophobia! I get to watch Game 4 on my giant class projector screen with no interruptions!

    -GO HABS GO!

    4. Haha, yeah totally...

      *googles "emblematic"*

      *I'm an English teacher, but fuck you that's an SAT word*

      *Seriously, I do know that word (emblem= a symbol) but you're not on one of your law school blogs here, calm down Ross, there's some Joeys and Rachels here*

      I feel no guilt in hating that jersey. But I do love that you have it, just like Ross had that goddamn monkey.

  10. I said earlier that all my friends are on vacation (I seriously don't know why) so I'm left to my own devices. As such, I broke into that GIANT bottle of rum I got at Costco tonight. No shame, the best times I've had drunk have been alone. Also, my tear ducts have dried up.

    Anyway, I started out listening to 90s grunge-->70s Glam-->80s New Wave-->60s MoTown-->10s electronica-->Dolly Parton (as you do).

    I love Dolly. I'm not a drag queen, but if I had enough balls to be a lady, I would be that bitch. I'm not even into country. Anyway, giant bottle of rum and too much time on my hands, here is my song parody inspired by the Vodkov kiss to PK:

  11. D-Men on the Ice
    By: Andrei Markov and PK Subban
    Parody: Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton)

    Baby when I met you there was wins unknown
    Gainey was set to get you with a fine tooth comb
    Habs were soft on ice
    There was something going on

    You do something to me that I can't explain
    Cover me closer and I feel no pain
    Every shot from the point
    We got something going on

    Good defence is fine
    It requires a dedication
    All these passes we do needs no conversation
    We pass to each other, ah ha
    Covering one another, ah ha

    D-Men on the ice
    That is what we are
    No one in between
    How can we be wrong
    One timer with me
    To the top corner
    And we pass to each other, ah ha
    From one all-star to another, ah ha

    I can't win without you if your goals were gone
    My assists mean nothing if you got no shot
    And you just walk in from the right
    Just slowly gaining sight of the low glove

    But this always happens to us, you know no doubt
    Too deep in the zone and we got no way out
    But the one timer is there
    This could be the year for the 25th Cup

    No more will you cry
    Habbies I will hurt you never
    We start and end as one
    A pair forever
    We can ride it together, ah ha
    Making highlights with each other, ah ha

    D-Men on the ice
    That is what we are
    No one in between
    How can we be wrong
    One timer with me
    To the top corner
    And we pass to each other, ah ha
    From one all-star to another, ah ha

    Although I am happy the leafools were denied anything good happening to them, I feel sorry for McDavid, another top end talent about to be ruined by the incompetent Oilers. Too bad his first 5 years in the league will be wasted.

      The Oilers need to win a lotto for better management...thank god the leafs didn't get it, it'd be a monsoon of splooge for the next 6 months in Toronto.

    Poor McDavid, probably the last place he wanted to go, I'll bet the Oilers will be a bottom 5 team again next year and Connor will be -35 or worse. They still don't have a goalie or any defence.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd like to see Torts as the new leaf coach - popcorn's on me.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "That's an unbelievable organization and it will be a true honor to be able to go there," McDavid told Sportsnet's George Stroumboulopoulos after the lottery results were revealed.
    Of course all the leaf fans were saying he wanted to go to the leaf. Even a lottery pick doesn't want to go there. Smart kid.

  23. Oy. What time is it? Why do I have 9 to 5 stuck in my head?

    Edmonton again? They're like a real life gambling addict who keeps hitting the jackpot, but the millions are blown again in 2 months. What a waste. But I'm thinking they'll end up trading one of their other top forwards for some defencemen and/or a goalie. Montreal happens to have a plethora of both. Hey, I'll take Eberle. But it'll likely be Yakupov (I'll take him too, at a much lower price).

    Habs still the only team to go 2-0. Anaheim has 1 more period to change that. Go Jets Go!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ducks score late to take the lead. Refs letting them get away with murder yet called a very borderline high stick on the Jets for them to tie it up.

  25. On good thing about being in an all-Canadian matchup is we don't get forced to play in the afternoon for NBC. Caps-Isles goes today at noon. Noon! that's an inhumane time for a hockey game.Though I imagine K3X would love it.
