  1. This is why I label them Sick Fuck United;

"This guy’s won a pair of Olympic gold medals. He’s provided two of our most binding cultural moments of the past decade. And he thinks the Leafs are bigger than that – so meaningful to Canada, they’re more important than the national team. You don’t have to buy it. But, given his stature, you do have to respect the source. (Also – stick it, Montreal.)

Breaking protocol, people began to clap. Someone in the media section actually sobbed and said, “Wow.”

    2. That was, pure and simple, a story in a Toronto based paper, written by a Toronto sportwriter about a Toronto based team, aimed at leaf fans only. There is nothing remotely national or global about that story whatsoever. I lived amongst that bile for just over 10 years so I do understand where it comes from - I cannot relate in any way shape or form, but I do understand where it comes from. But it does not belong in a supposed "National" newspaper. It belongs in a local rag like the Sun or similar. It's a complete nonesense but it is completely representative of what is wrong with a lot of things in Canada's largest city. They mostly live a deluded, isolated life and I would feel sorry for them if I didn't resent the 10+ years of reality the city stole from me so much!

    3. Agreed on all points. What weirds me out is why these CotU pinheads need to be so arrogant and ignorant. Does it make them feel better/superiour? Are they that masochistic? I'll call out those that need o act that way as unCanadian. They can eat shit.

  2. My last words on Dave - I haven't seen the full show but did go to the trouble of getting all the clips available on line together and watched them. A very classy end to a legendary show. Foo Fighters montage was really really good (and the music was great too!) His closing "Thank you" speech was very humble and classy as well. I had almost forgotten how much I enjoyed his style of humour. He is the last in a long line and I can't see Jimmy Kimble or Stephen Colbert or Conan O'Brien or any of the others currently on the late night circuit doing anything like he has done. I distinctly remember him saying at some point long ago that when "this gig ends, I'm gone" - and then clarifying that it would mark the end of his "public life" persona. Time will tell. And btw - what ever happened to Terri Garr?

As for SF - Moeman - you've done it again! Nice ones all 'round!

And my last word on Babcock to the leaf...actually - you know what?...there's no point - he's been bought so why waste my breathe...he'll figure it out soon enough!...bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

    1. Good stuff K3X. I think Colbert will do very well. He is whip smart, like Dave and will connect with today's generation, like Dave did with us.

CBS has the entire last show up, you'll need to VPN into the US to see it.

I read that Terri is not well (for a while now). I would have loved to see her one last time with Dave.

  6. Comments on the SFU quote about Babs above:

This is a national media who rooted for the USA against Canada because they had Kessel. I don't take them seriously. They don't represent Canada, and I even hesitate to say they only represent Toronto. My Toronto area friends were just as disgusted and angry at those comment last year as we were. In fact, it was a big leaf fan lover facebook friend of mine that compiled a list of terrible quotes from them during that game. So there are aware leaf fans.

Anyway, they have to sell papers, as it were. The Habs may be the most followed team in Canada, but the leaf is the most followed team in English Canada. I actually think the French media's coverage of the Habs is just as bad. It's embarrassing.

The Wings were the Wings before Babcock, and the Wings will be the Wings after Babcock. The leaf were the leaf before Babcock, and the leaf will be the leaf after Babcock.

    Hi everybody! Happy Sexy Friday!

I commented on the previous thread about the same quote mentioned above by moeman but blogger ate it.

The hubris of the SFU's is unbelievable. K3X and Orangeman said it more eloquently but I have to repeat my response: Hey Cathal Kelly Go Fuck Yourself you pompous asshole.

      Sorry for your loss moe.

I am sitting looking out my patio doors, it's raining, but every once in a while the rain will briefly turn to snow... on May 23rd.
It's only +5 so yeah... it's Bizarro World.

  11. Looking at the final four two years in a row we have come within a few pings of a final. The question for MB is why when the PP sucked all season did he not make a PP coaching move mid season. What he thought they would get better in the tighter checking playoffs. The second big question is why have we run out of gas in the big game two years in a row. This year we should have beat Tampa, last year the Rangers where better but a game 7 is a toss up if we had shown up. Mcdonaugh is not looking much better than Vodkov agaisnt the twins.
I hope Fuckme has a great memorial. Edmonton needs a goalie of the future in the worst way. I can see a one for one trade for Elerbe or Yak. It may turn out McCaron is the big center we have been waiting for since Damphouse.

  13. Funny, I never saw any mention of this on the laff website.
"Brodeur was named Assistant General Manager of the Blues on Wednesday, agreeing to a three-year contract."

  14. "The Canadiens own two of the top seven best shot attempt producing players in the NHL, and they play a system that produces fewer attempts overall than half of the NHL. These guys are studs, and they're signed for the next four years for a combined cap hit of $8.25M, with Gallagher signed an extra two years at $3.75M."

  15. MT and his "system" players have to bust ass defensively, leaving nothing left to try to score. Puck chasing instead of puck owning
Let the other team chase us!
Why we have to let TFS have no room for error?
    All the coaches get kept?
    Lacroix sucked as PP coach
DD kept getting put out there
Larry sat on the bench as did Chucky
    PP was too predictable
Put Chucky on the half wall like L'Artiste used to
Give him the fuckin reins, he's got passing and shooting talent

I have to believe MB was throwing up a smoke screen at his last presser. Yes, there was no way he was throwing eMpTy under the bus. However, he's not stupid or blind. He saw the lack of finish by most of his top 6. One thing about MB is he is proactive. I believe he will do something over the summer. He wasn't showing his cards to the media so I'm going to sit back and wait. If, at the start of the season, I see DD thrown out for the start of the PP and the same fucking dump and chase bullshit I'm boycotting until Benoit Groulx shows up to coach the team. eMpTy can go back to anti-Habschamber.
