    See ya Parizeau, you racist old twit! Don't let the Maple Leaf hit your ass on your way out (of this world)!

      I can't say I liked the man or his politics and he nearly destroyed this great country. He made a comment in defeat that haunted him to his final day. Still, I wish him no ill will and offer condolences to his family on his passing.

      Delete
    5. Right, I don't mean to disrespect his family. But he tried to break apart the country I love and directly insulted my family ("ethnics") in the process. I'm not going to spit on his grave, but I'm not going to pretend that he was a great man, either. Intelligent, yes. Great, no.

  17. Whilst here;

    I want the Hawks to win/end it in 4. I appreciate Yzerman and what he has accomplished but I don't like his team. They don't deserve a Cup and I hate the word 'deserve'. Out in 4 games means that snet and fuckface bettman lose revenue.

    MONTRÉAL – Le Canadien a accordé mardi un nouveau contrat de six saisons d'une valeur de 33 millions $ au défenseur Jeff Petry.

    That's a lot of years and money! But I'll take him. In DGMB we trust, I guess, Dishin' out the contracts...

    1. Nice find 29!

    2. Probably would have had more on the open market in a thin FA year, so well done DGMB

      Delete
    3. Also, too, Dish made last week's SF.

      Delete
    4. I just saw the news on Dish...that sounds like a good move to me. He is very solid and it gives options in the back. I would like to see him play the PP more next year. He isn't afraid to rush the puck and shoot (actually on the net most times). Good move DGMB!

      Delete
    5. He must have gotten that taste of playoffs in beautiful Montreal in his blood. Good job DGMB.

  20. The Dish signing also needs to be weighed with Vodkov's years of play in consideration. I'd line up PFK and Dish and put Vodkov as a #3-4 with Bo or (Y) (unless (Y) heads West ...

    ReplyDelete
  21. DGMB needs to carry the 2 and lock up TFS! for a decade.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Additional kudos to DGMB and his team for doing this signing just before the Finals.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Bonus, dredger and fried man were once again clueless/cluedout on this deal.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This will enable them to manage Vodkov's ice time.

    ReplyDelete
  25. So, D pairs could be;

    PFK+Dish
    Vodkov+(Y) = Dynamo (pun intended)
    N8+Plaid
    7th Tin man? (or does he get moved cuz we needs goals FFS!)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. So who is worth more on the trade market...Tin Tin or Plaid? I wouldn't trade Y

      Delete
    2. Man, I'm glad I don't have to make those decisions.

      Delete
    3. Don't think I would trade N8 either. Gilbert I would add to the package of either tin tin or Plaid for a proven sniper

      Delete
    4. I can see Tin being moved but what in return (or package deal)? I like Plaid (as a player, never worn the style, not even a kilt, although going commando is FHFun). I'm 50/50 on (Y). If he started hitting, hard, again I'd be 20/80.

  26. the Maritimer9:11 PM

    If you look at the lineup, there is a huge imbalance between what is being paid to the D and what the forwards are getting. Hence, the struggle to score goals. Think about it, Pleks is the highest paid forward at $5.0mil, followed by Max at $4.5, PAP at $4.0 (a waste of money) then the rest of the stiffs get even less. GMMB has overloaded the backend,
    PK = $9.0
    Petry = $5.5 or so
    Vodkov = $5.75
    (Y) = $4.1

    The Habs need a couple $8-9mil players like Toews and Kane up front or at least one of them. One thing I know for sure is the Habs will never, ever win a Cup with Pleks and DD as a 1-2 punch down the middle. MB and eMpTy may think they can win with Price, a high priced D and the dump and chase system but all they will do is get Geoff Molson some extra playoff revenue.

    One of those D will have to move on for some offence.

    1. (Y) has a no trade clause. Doesn't mean he won't be traded, just makes it more difficult. Not to mention his salary. I have this nagging feeling that a couple of young D (Tin and maybe Plaid) plus maybe Fucale could end up in Edmonton for one of their star forwards. Maybe I'm just dreaming, though. Eberle would look nice in the CH, though. I could get used to a Patches-gCHuck-Eberle first line. Or even Yak, probably for less.

      I'm just saying that Edmonton has lots of young underdeveloped skilled forwards and nothing in the back end. Montreal has lots of young underdeveloped skilled defencemen and very little up front. A match made in heaven, and hopefully with the new management in Oil Country things will happen.

      Delete
    2. O-man, I think we're all dreaming in sync regarding getting something from the Oil.
      I said it right off and I'll say it again, I think MB was just holding his cards close to his chest at his year end presser. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Malkin moved this summer and the CH would look good on him. But that would be VERY expensive, starting with Patches I suspect.

      Delete
    3. the Maritimer2:13 PM

      I hope you guys are right, especially Saint Paddy re: Malkin. I think Pitt is ready for a change up front but they won't get Patches out of MB. Malkin would need somebody to feed.

      Delete
    4. A Patches, Geno, kidG line would look pretty damn nice.

      Delete
    5. And if you consider Patches, PK and Price are the three untouchables, that means gCHuk would be the starting point to get a Malkin, probably along with Eller, N8 or Plaid and pick(s).

  27. a 2nd and a fourth for a top five D man. another solid win for DGMB

  28. "Pretty much all signs pointed towards testing the market, and then once the trade happened and I joined Montreal, the mindset started shifting," Petry said via conference call from his home in West Bloomfield, Mich. "And then as time went on and I got to play in the environment and see how I was valued within the organization, I think that kept pushing things more towards the side of not testing the open market."
    "For me it was in my exit meeting, they had said that they were very happy with the way I was playing and that they were going to reach out to my agent about getting a contract going," Petry said. "And that showed a lot to me that they were willing to initiate so early, and I think just from everything that happened throughout the year, from coming in in the trade and then playing in the playoffs, and just how I felt with the coaching staff, how I felt I fit in with the team and the guys in the locker room, I think that played a big role into it."
    "Everyone was packing up and saying goodbyes for the summer and I had a couple of guys that came up to me and wished me good luck with everything that would happen over the summer, but expressed that they would really like to have me back," Petry said. "And that meant a lot, hearing from guys like Subban and guys like Price, guys that play a key role on this team, hearing that from them weighed in a lot on the decision."

    Montreal's potential to compete for the Stanley Cup also was a factor.

    "I have a feeling that it's not far off, and that played into the decision as well," Petry said.

  30. Don't worry MERS has not gotten me yet! C'mon Korea, 2 more months and I'm outta here. Try to not kill me.

    Anyway, GO CANADA in the World Cup that starts tonight! Tickets still available at the Big O for Canada's game against the Netherlands in a couple of weeks. They even have a 3+moi package, 4 tickets for the price of 3. $160 for everyone, all inclusive. Wish I could be there. Canada is picked as the 5th most likely to win it all, as they are ranked 7th in the world currently. Of course they bombed out at the group stage last time, but this time should be different.
