  6. Shit, PatCHes suffered a knee injury.

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens announced Friday that forward Max Pacioretty suffered a knee injury. His recovery is expected to be 12 weeks.

Pacioretty, 26, suffered his injury while working out off-ice in Florida, Thursday, July 9, 2015.

Oh dear. Since the Habs will be even less of a threat to score, MB and MT will be working on a new defensive scheme, a 5 man spread across the defensive blue line. At all times. There will less skating involved so the boys won't be tired at game's end with the 0-0 score. Then the Habs will have the advantage playing 3 on 3 against an opposition team wore out from trying to penetrate the offensive zone. Sheer genius.

  10. I don't understand why PatCHes isn't kept in a well guarded safe, wrapped in bubble wrap, during the off season.

Nice job blacking out the leaf, moe.

  11. So Sharp's definitely not coming to MTL now. Traded to Dallas for pretty much nothing. Not that I was too interested in getting Sharp anyway. Like I've been saying, I'd be totally fine with the team as is if I believed the kids would actually be given a chance to play a role next year. However, I do not believe this.

I would rather they give 'Ghetto or Hudon or this Carr kid a shot rather than an aging vet. The Habs aren't winning anything anytime soon so why not? Unless they make a mistake then they will be Newfoundland bound.

With the Patches injury and PAP now with the SFU's there are a couple open spots... Nikita and Big Mac, maybe?

  13. Kessels off season training plan does not look so stupid now, he is never going to get and injury.

  16. I got watch some rugby 7s over the last two days, and I have to say it is AWESOME. I've only ever watched regular rugby, which was cool. But this shit is so much fun. Doesn't hurt that Canada won both golds. Our women are favourites for a medal in Rio next year, our men got screwed by the US (who else) so they need to win a very tough tournament in a few months to qualify. Up until this year they were pretty good (5-6th), now they're ranked 9th I think. Not too bad.

I know this is a "all for fun" Habs/hockey site but I am somewhat fascinated by the Greek economic crisis and Steve's comment about them rejecting "the Man" sparked my curiosity further. Apparently "the Man" is actually a woman, German Chancellor Angela Merkel. I admit I don't understand all that's going on in this situation but I found this very interesting article at the CBC news website if anyone is interested.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/greece-crisis-no-mercy-for-greece-in-angela-merkel-s-europe-1.3148815

If not, there is an extensive interview with Moey's fave Sheldon Souray over at HI/O where he mentions his upcoming nuptials to Barbie Blank, aka Kelly Kelly of WWE and Maxim fame. I'm not sure if ol' Shelly is riding off into the sunset or going out in a blaze of glory.

    1. I actually admire Merkel, I think she has a doctorate in Chemistry. One of the reasons Europe is run well is most the pols do have doctorates in realitynot like our own Dr 29 (who is an exception to the lawyer law). I dont want to tangent off Greece but the real man is the head of the Giant Squid, that is who pulled Merkels strings and hung Greece out to dry. All in all it was a dirty no good unstainable MANpage.
Glad we passed on O Riely but I fear the leaf star Neverlander is a real threat to AHL defence.

    2. Here's the thing about the Greeks, Merkel and the rest of the EU...I've now been in the UK for 20 years. The EU, whilst a generally good idea is a club. And like every club, some of its members are a bit fucked up. When they formed the club, they made a bunch of rules about levels of financial stability, debt burden etc. (I am not an economics whizz so forgive the generalities here) that had to be met in order to join. Then they set a deadline for the named countries to meet these rules. Guess what happened? Every country that they wanted in the original union met the rules set out...the reality was that many of them fudged the numbers so that they could be in that historic photo and have been paying the price ever since. The EU is ruled by Germany and France so they were never going to let Greece come away from their little club - it would have made them look bad. So they forced them to accept a deal far worse than the one the people voted against only a week ago. They made them an offer they didn't dare refuse...but watch this space - that song still has another refrain or two to go before it finally finishes.

    3. In many ways the EU is like the NHL in inverse, Toronto, Montreal and the orginal 6 are Germany, but Greece makes the rules.

    6. I have always seen the EU as the German's way of getting back at the rest of the world for losing WW2. Tony Blair signed the UK up to most of what they did because his wife threatened to kill him if he didn't. The European Bill of Rights is probably the wort thing that has ever happened to the UK and in my mind at least is the real legacy of Tony Blair. Without it, Scotland Yard would have been able to arrest fuckwits like Abu Hamza and his ilk and monitor all the extremists without fear of someone accusing them of being racist and the 7/7 bombings in London would not have happened. But because of it, he continued to preach hatred and incited the worse kind of racial hatred. Did I mention that being a MEP (European Member of Parliament) is essentially a licence to print money?

    1. If either one is up and gets sent down they'd have to clear waivers and could be grabbed by other teams. There are a few teams who are really in need of D and with Tinordi's salary, he'd be low risk for a team to grab. Since they never really gave him the opportunity with the big boys, (just my opinion cause MT nailed him to the bench if he made a mistake) and because they seem to have decided to go with N8 and Plaid, I think DGMB may have a trade in mind rather than risk losing him for nothing.

Too bad, I would hate to see him break out with another team.

“It will be good to play for a coach that actually wants you,” Parenteau told La Presse.

It's why we'll never win with eMTy behind the bench.
