  2. Jacobs doesn't want Quebec to get a team, go figure.

"Balance the fact, Quebec has a great hockey interest, [but] it's an extraordinarily small market."
Jacobs also said he was surprised that only two expansion applications were submitted when the league invited interested groups to apply in July.
"Take a look and see who applied. We had no applications from Toronto -- interesting," Jacobs said. "We had no applications from Toronto, so that says a lot. We had two legitimate ones, Quebec and Nevada -- it speaks volumes. I'd love to see us in the West to be up in Seattle. Seattle's a natural, and I would love to see one in Houston, but we can't get into that building. There are conditions and circumstances in each one of these that we have to take into consideration."

    1. Wow...Doesn't the fact that only two interested parties applied tell him something about a) the process, b) the cost c) the viability d) the actual fan base that would support a franchise e) the politics involved in dealing with assholes like Jacobs and Buttman f) All of the above

  3. Great SF Moeman - Excellent ones all 'round! Patches looks very handsome with the C on his chest. Who is the Swiss Hockey Goalie Chick? What happened to TFS last night? I missed the game completely but from what I have read - they blew a 2 goal lead to let in 5 straight goals? btw. why is Chris Neal still playing professional hockey? Is the talent pool that thin in Ottawa?

Maybe. Depends on what other teams scouts think of him.

Personally, I think MB puts a package together for a deal, they've got too many defencemen and goalies in the system. The next day or two will tell the tale.

To answer moe from above, I don't know if MB would want to carry 8 D, I suppose they could put somebody on the injury list to start the season with some sort of knack.

  29. I don't have all the facts, and we all make mistakes, but fuck drunk driving. I know that's not a controversial statement, but you've got to be more careful. Looks like Kassian's reputation is spot on, unfortunately. Montreal ate up other 'partiers' (Sekac apprently, too) and so I'm worried not just for the team but also the victims of such stupid behaviour.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I realize he wasn't apparently driving, but still especially as the older 'gentleman'. I also don't like that no tests were done or that it's all been hush hush. Indicative of a cover-up, and as much as I love my Habs that's unacceptable. I don't care if it was the new guy or TFS. I don't support special treatment, especially in drunk driving cases.

      Delete
  30. Zach has a broken foot and a broken nose. DGMB, definately not happy, said he doesn't support that he was out at 6am but says he doesn't have all the facts and hasn't spoken to him yet. Says when he traded for him, he did have discussions about past behaviour and said he also knew about his rep and the risks. Said Condom simply out-played Toker.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I say cut him loose now. I'm all for second chances, but this was his second chance and he wasted no time in ruining it. Drunk driver just killed 3 kids and grandfather last weekend in Toronto. Unforgivable there, unforgivable here. Maybe for a 20 year old young'un, but Kassian should definitely know better. The team doesn't need this, on ice or off.

I'll tell you, I was a big fuck and may still be in many ways but once I became a teacher I started thinking about my actions. You make millions, you can start doing the same. Lucky only a tree was hurt, and these three knuckleheads minorly.

  33. I have a sickness. I have to hate-read TSN:

"But even with the balanced scoring, the Habs won’t knock off Tampa Bay in the Atlantic division playoffs. Carey Price can’t re-write the record books every year and the Habs’ relatively weak possession metrics will catch up to them."

'Cause Price was the one with unsustainable numbers, not Bishop. It could go either way, but of course they went that one way. Of course they did.

    And...

"Phil Kessel will become the NHL’s first 50-goal scorer not named Alex Ovechkin since 2011-12."

    Again, OF COURSE.

  34. The Pens will do well in the regular season, probably better than the last few seasons. But they will be easier to neutralize in the playoffs now that they're so concentrated. Also, MAF. So there's that.

Lots can happen during the season, but I think the only teams that really matter when the playoffs in the come in East are the Habs and Lightning. Rangers are on the decline (it was really just those 3 last year). But anything can happen in the season, and especially in the playoffs.

Anyway, getting ahead of ourselves. Let Kessel get a million goals, he'll be out in the first round like the rest of those superstars before the fire sale. You can only do so much with 2 superstars, 2 regular season performers and 18 AHL-ers.

I hate to say it but I think MB made his first questionable decision in trading CHarger for Kassian. I would have let Prust play out his contract and let the chips fall. Prust didn't score a lot but you knew what you were getting every night with him. Sure, he mouthed off a couple times to the Fat Walrus and nitwit Watson but I could live with that. Zach has literally got off on the wrong (broken) foot here. He should never, ever let that young girl who was more than likely drinking with him behind the wheel of his truck. He is an abettor to a DUI. He's done in Montreal already. Molson and MB will cut him loose.

Look out for the Pitts love this year from the mediots because their favourite Biggest Loser contestant happens to play for them now. Usually the CotU and their fans immediately forget their past 'stars', but I suppose they know deep down they have nothing else to cheer for this year (or for the next 5,10,20 years) and have hitched their broken down wagon to the fattest horse they could find. During my fantasy draft last night I was told several times by various leaf fans that Ke$$el will get at least 50 goals. Just to put that in perspective, only Ovie has done that in the last 5 years. TSN also predicting this miracle.
