    This day in history:

Oct. 17, 1957: Henri Richard scored three goals and added three assists in a 9-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

  3. Can't wait for the Fat Phil pre-game show. I have the over/under on the discussion regarding him and that game in particular taking up the first 9 minutes of their 22 minute program. And that might be low. Tuned into Hockey Central for a few minutes and they mentioned a program change..."the Leafs have been moved to City TV." That's it. That was the program change. Not even 'leafs and pens' and certainly no mention that the end result is in the Habs/Wings moving to CBC. SFU (I forget what this even means, but know the context)...there's a lot of idiots representing that bunch.

    Anyway, GYMFHG!!!

Are we going to see Lord Byron or no changes so long as they keep winning?

    1. I actually looked that up earlier this week. Apparently you have to have been outside of Canada for under 5 years and have some sort of intention of returning. I have lived in the UK since 1995 and while I do intend to return at some point I couldn't tell you when it would be...so no - I can't vote. I did do an independent test to see who I would vote for and the survey said I should vote PC, even though I clearly indicated that I thought Harper was an ass...scary or what!

  10. Ref alert! Marc Joanette has reached the 1000th game and refs get to choose where they officiate and I believe they also choose who they want to work with, so tonight's refs are Marc Joannette (#25) Verdun, QC, Dave Jackson (#8) Montreal, Pierre Racicot (#65) Verdun, QC and Michel Cormier (#76) Trois-Rivieres, QC.

McLame is going to go fucking bonkers.

    1. It's a familiar SFU trademark - trying to stuff shit down the throats of Canadians that of 75% of the population either has a great distaste for or may even have a fatal allergy to. They are so closed-minded and self centered that they truly believe that every man, woman and child in Canada hang on their every word. They are so fucking clueless it hurts. Wonder which Hab hating duo will be doing the game tonight? Stay tuned.

    2. Is there such a thing as a "humble" leaf player? I ask because I can never remember any of them that weren't so far up their own ass and delusional about being a leaf player that no matter who they are, if they once wore a leaf Jersey, they are dead to me. Frank Mahovolich is excluded from this...

I couldn't participate in the conversation last night but I would like to add:

    1. The Habs look like they are on a mission.

    2. The last two games against NY and Detroit were as good as any you would see mid-season or later. Great pace and intensity.

    3. It's got to be killing the Sick Fucks United leaf Fanboy Hacks that Montreal is this good. Kypridiot still got his little cheapshots in though.

    4. Go Giants! Wait, I think that's Monday night.

  70. Thought I'd check out the 9AM (8AM for you EST folks) hilites at both TSN and SN just to see where the Habs fall in their packages.

    They both start with:
Jays (fair enough - it's the playoffs)
    McDavid (ie Oilers vs Flames)
    Donutboy (ie laffs vs Pens)
Lots of post-game interviews for these three.

    Then TSN goes to:
    CFL game nobody cares about
another CFL game nobody cares about
    Cubs/Mets
9:26 - Habs/Wings. They show a few goals and move on

    SN went with:
    a long Cubs/Mets package
back to the Jays with *shudder* Hazel Mae
    9:28AM - Habs/Wings - just the basic hilites

Even though they took 2 minutes longer to get to the Habs, I'll give it to SN because of Jackie Redmond...even though she probably hates the Habs too.

Point is the SFU will never give the Habs the credit they deserve, especially since the bunch of sycophants are all busy blowing the multi-headed monster over at Rogers.

So fine, leave our team alone and keep on giving McDavid (sorry man, it's not your fault), Donutboy and the wretched leaf your handjobs.

Six and fucking OH! YEAH! That said, let's not plan the parade just yet. This team still has work to do to compete with the big boys. #1 priority obviously fixing the power play. I think they are one clutch player away from that though - probably in the place where Jizz is more or less failing, even though he has a few points.

The Habs can go to twelve and oh and the sick fucks united will still be blowing phat phil and his new team plus chasing mickD and the sad sack Oilers. Funny how Petry and Gilbert weren't good enough to play for that defence yet they can come to Montreal and help stabilize that D. Chiarelli has his work cut out for him. I imagine MB, with 8 nhl defencemen at his disposal will be fielding phone calls from rival gms.

  73. Weird positive vibe went through me today as I remembered meeting Margaret Trudeau whilst on our respective honeymoons in Vermont (circa early May 1988). We were at a B&B in Woodstock and after dinner watched the Habs vs. Bruins ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_Stanley_Cup_playoffs ) in the shared living room. We spent a couple of hours talking about life and Maggie was so fucking proud of her boys. I hope she has an extraordinary October 19th.

I voted for Mr. Harper in the past, not out of any party loyalty but because he was the best option at the time. I agree it is time for him to go, as it is for any politician after 10 years. Former NB premier Frank McKenna realized this and resigned as he said he would. Justin Trudeau seems poised to win this election, I hope he doesn't let Canadian voters down if he wins.

I think we are looking at a minority government regardless.
