  4. So when the Habs play their leaf we all know that they will hype anything CotU, its all they got. Anyones else joyful that we won't be hearing much more of the SFU's 'the jays united Canada'. STFU. Now it'll be their (literally) raptors. Truly weird to see the snet and tsn desk jockeys depressed, expressively saddened and mourning 'what could have been (for Canada!). Again, STFU. So, when I suggest that anything remotely playoff-like for their (literally) leaf, they, the SFU will cram their 'united for Canada' shit down the country's gullet. Did they go this far when the Canadiens were the Canadian last team in the playoffs? Of course not because that would mean resigning themselves to the fact that our beloved Habs rightfully deserve some praise. These fuckers go out of their way to disregard the Habs. In a way, this isn't all a bad thing because they are not true hockey fans, just leafools. As a parting shot, thanks Kansas City Royals!

  92. Yay! I was actually up early enough to watch live today, but I didn't want to mess with the streak. Gamecenter's replays have been horrid, though. It pauses before every single goal and then skips it. It's 'on the tape', even if you try to rewatch it the same thing happens. So I switched feeds and the same thing there. Obviously there's a Habs hater working for them.

Probably could say a bunch about the leaf and their cheerleaders in the pressbox, but really who cares? They're so irrelevant. On to Western Canada!

All is right in the world people. And as a bonus, the UK switched the clocks back an hour last night so now there is only 4 hours time difference until you lot switch the clocks back. Which means this week's west coast trip only start at 2 am! Each night. Last night's game was slightly worrying in that the Habs gave up a lot of shot so all the stat geeks will be saying how shit a team they are and they only are where they are because of TFS - which we know is crap - but it will satisfy the SFU dickwads for another week anyway!

Welcome to my upbringing in Central/Northern Ontario. This is why it really is true that leaf fans don't know hockey, they only know their team. People in Ontario have no idea. They really do believe millions of hockey fans around the continent are salivating over their team's every move.

When I was growing up there (ages 8-18) it was pre-internet. We didn't hear about the Habs or any other team. The Habs slightly in the early 90s due to Roy and them winning the Cup. The only way I knew Vancouver had a team was when they reached final in 1994 (not really). I'm not sure if the internet has made it better or worse.

Think of any other major sport. Does New York call itself the the "Center of the Baseball Universe"? And they have two teams! Do the Pats call themselves the center of the football universe? How about LA for basketball? Of course not. That would be ridiculous and pathetic.

My college roommate (first time around, at McGill 2000-ish) was from Minnesota. He knew hockey as a sport, but it was his third favourite major league. Yet he knew more about the game and the current state of the league than any leaf fan I've ever met, and I've met hundreds/thousands. Even here in China I met a Colombian guy who I told I liked hockey. We hung out this past weekend and he spoke more hockey than any leaf fan I've ever met. He knew my team and looked it up. 10 minutes max. He knew about Price, the unbeaten streak, the 24 Cups, the drought and the language issues. This was like a week after I told him about the Habs. He even knew why they were called the Habs, and that the "H" stood for "hockey" and not "Habs". Seriously, a quick google search made him more knowledgeable than 99% of leaf fans.

So I've gone on and on, as I tend to do when the topic is the leaf and their fans. I just think people who haven't been exposed to it, like REALLY exposed, don't know the extend of the illness.

But whatever. GO HABS GO! WOOO! PST games! I'll be there live!

    ReplyDelete
  111. So, Yost is trying to pull stats out of his ass as a means to slag Detroit to try to make his leaf look better and maintain that Babcock is a coaching genius and the Wing are falling apart since he left.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Another thing I don't miss about living in the GTA (which I did for 10 years before moving to the UK) is listening to the leaf fans and the leaf television stations going on and on about them like they were one bad bounce away from a dynasty. I agree with O-man - a lot of the ignorance of leaf fans is borne out of intentional omission on the part of the media. They might recap the scores at 11 but that's about it. When your employees are bought and paid for with leaf money it's not surprising. All summer long, even over here I heard about how they have made some big moves and signed big players - which is wrong! - they signed a bunch of coaches. But they, in a fashion that only the leafnation could come up with, have hired a load of excellent guys (and Shannahan) to do the same job. Shannahan is apparently the boss, then he hires a guy who is used to being the boss and was a decent enough coach, then hires another guy who was the boss and was a pretty good coach when he had to be too, then they hire another guy who could easily have been the boss and is also a great coach...you couldn't make it up! Too many cooks and not enough broth. Unless they are all after an easy life, one of them is going to crack at some point. Someone is going to get bored or pissed off or fed up and the whole wonderful house of cards will come tumbling down is a myriad of name calling and slagging off, blame and recrimination. It's a ridiculous joke...

But in the meantime, it sure is fun to watch...Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!

    Go You Fucking Habs Go!!
