  1. Moeman - That cat has now buggered my eyes! So who do we get tonight? Career AHLer or impressive rookie thrown in at the deep end? And what is the over /under on DDD on the PP tonight? I say it about 7.25

Go You Fucking Habs Go! Welcome Home - Just Fucking win!!

  2. I haven't felt this "meh" about this team in a very long time. Not sure I can stomach watching a NJD game - might tune in for the 3rd. There was a headline at tsn earlier that gave me a brief heart flutter - I thought eMTy was on his way out, but it was just about him blaming the 3rd and 4th line for the lack of scoring. Says it all right there.

  3. Double posted for some reason. Anyway, fingers crossed for The Rock to enter his rightful place at Baseball's HOF in Cooperstown today. Quite possibly my favourite Expo of all time...though it's a tough call.

  4. This is for Raines. I'll change it to a Habs logo following their next 3 game winning streak. That's not asking too much is it?

    2. I was reading about this. The Kings must be nuts! And I don't understand the cap space issue with this trade...the Kings don't have 8m of space so there must be a lot more that we don't know about yet...

  6. I heard on 690 that DGMB was so pissed last night he stormed out. I guess he's worried that their goal 'was to make the playoffs' may be in jeopardy.

    1. He should be pissed. This is his mess - he hired MT and stood up for him not long ago. Maybe he's realising that he's about to be made a dick of when he has to sack the useless twat. If the Habs are out of a playoff spot by the 3on3 tourney break (can't bring myself to call it an All star game) he wont have an option.

I read MB was pissed after the Philthy No Show. Maybe he got wind of the RyJo trade and realized he'd been snookered.

Teams can make "hockey trades" if they really want to as evidenced by the BJ's/Preds deal today. I feel MB doesn't want to do anything of such a nature because he believes in building from within. Through the draft. Thus, we Habs fans will be watCHing the same core players for the next 5 years at least with more tinkering around the edges. I couldn't bring myself to watch a typical NJ/Habs snorefest so I read today's paper, did the crossword puzzle and watched the National. I flipped over to sportsbet for the last 7 minutes or so with the mute button on. That's what 23 years of watching losing teams has done for me. The hiring of the last two coaches, JM the Baron of Boredom and eMTy the King of the Dump and Chase has wore me down. I've got nothing left in the tank. It seems we have been watching the same movie over and over again. I love you guys and I always get a chuckle when I read the comments on this site. I can't wait to go south in a week and a half and recharge my batteries. Maybe, just maybe, in the meantime something will occur to peak my interest again. The hot October start for the Habs was an illusion and in the immortal words of Pete Townsend and Roger Daltry: "I won't get fooled again." Nope.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yay? I guess. For a while there I thought if the Habs lost enough MB would have to fire MT. But now I see that will never happen. MT is to MB as DDD is to MT. So I guess I want them to win, but frankly it doesn't seem to matter much to me right now. After 6 weeks of watching those bums phone it in, I guess I just stopped caring, too. As long as they embarrassed the broons on New Year's.

Like the Maritimer, I'm doubtful MB will do anything to actually improve this team significantly. I'm not really sure I want him to. I think this team is better than MT has them playing, but I guess we'll never find out. And I'm not sure what MB can get on the market for what he's willing to give up. I doubt you can get a bag of pucks for DDD or Emelin. I doubt they'd ever be on the chopping block anyway. I mean, really, who's MB willing to part ways with? Probably one or more of the young guys. So if Ghetto and McCaron land them Druion I'd rather he just not do anything.

I also don't see much of a point unless Price comes back. Even if they manage to make the playoffs (on pace to miss them!), they're going nowhere in April with out TFS. So why sell the farm?

Whatever, Go Habs Go and all that.

    1. O-Man / The M - like you both, I think I am resigned to the fact that nothing much is now going to change this season. MT is not going to get sacked by MB because it will invalidate all that MB has been doing. Presumably the players he has brought in have been discussed with MT - they are the type he wants - so I have not spent a lot of time calling for him to be sacked - even though I remain adamant that the Habs will never win the Cup with him behind the bench. What makes me really depressed is watching the style they play. Last night was a perfect example. The Habs had no possession at all - it's all erratic, dump and chase, shoot it to the corner and dig it out they never had the puck for more than a minute at a time before the dumped it in and chased after it. The Devils play a boring style of hockey but at least they hold onto the puck and make passes and carry the puck over the blueline. Teams have gotten wise to how you beat the dump and chase the Habs play and I agree with O-Man - if they make the playoffs (which I think they still will), they won't go too far. Watching that tribute to Dickie Moore sort of drove the message home. There isn't that kind of passion with many of the Habs these days. It's a job...and some of them are not doing their "job" very well. I appreciate that it's a long season - and last night did look somewhat better overall - but it is still not the same - and I guess that is why I get so disappointed when I see a player not putting in the effort - they are wearing the CH - it still means a hell of a lot to a lot of people who would kill to be in their shoes. Which is where the expectation of winning comes from. I was watching the footage they were showing last night on Tim Raines and his failed bid for Cooperstown and it reminded me of the present day Habs. The Expos had a core of awesome players - Raines, Dawson, Carter, Walker, Cromartie, Rogers, etc. who were all in or entering their prime and they should have won a championship for the Expos - they came close but it never happened. The Habs are in the exact same position - they have a nucleus that should win a Stanley Cup for the Montreal Canadiens - teams don't get into this position very often - they have the nucleus to win it all - if they piss it away, it will be another 5-10 years before it comes around again - if it comes around again...

  74. DGMB has to make a serious offer for Druid. Sure he will have to overpay, likely and additional first draft pick. Maybe a big Mac, Tin Tin, Plaid Ghetto and Auto package. We have made way worse trades.

    ReplyDelete
  75. #Habs have traded G Dustin Tokarski to #Ducks for Max Friberg.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Supremely skilled, he has great one-on-one ability and is quite creative with the puck. Can score goals and set up linemates with aplomb.
Flaws: Is undersized for the NHL and must adapt his game better to North American-sized ice. Needs more work on his play without the puck.
Career Potential: Skilled winger with some upside.

  78. After watching teams make real hockey trades yesterday, this sort of thing just depresses me more. I don't want a trade just for a trade, and this sort of looks exactly like that. "See fans! I'm shuffling things up just like those other guys!" Hope this guy, whatever his name is, helps out the Ice Caps. Or whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Maybe DGMB traded Toker for a forward because we wants to replace Auto's spot on the Ice Caps.
