Blogging concussion protocol keeps moeman out of the Big Game - Habs vs. PantherCanes

Hey kidz, 29 here again. Despite desperate cries of "put me back in coaCH", moeman remains sidelined as required by the National Blogging League's concussion protocol. The evil patch of ice (SEE YOU IN COURT SUCKER) has apparently knocked our fearless leader for a loop. When asked the standard protocol question of "who is the Habs coach?" moe answered "Mario Tremblay". Obviously something is wrong, that would never happen. While Dr. Recchi insisted everything was fine, the more reputable physicians of the Gatineau region have moe sitting in a dark room for his own protection. He is expected to make a full recovery, but Super Sunday will have to go on without him for now.

Hey the Habs won yesterday! Dammit, just when TFT was really ready to take off. Fuck me. Whatever. Get well soon moe! Go you fucking Panthers Broncos hmmm I guess I don't really care who wins? Go beer!

  1. Ack very funny 29. But I am all kinds of serious this Superbowl Sunday. The game against Carolina is a roash test of sensibilties if not intelligence. You have black vs white, hip hop rap alot against country, and I am not talking about the supposed rift between PFK and Patches in the room. I am not talking about the first non dog fighting "black quarterback" Cam Newton. I have always wondered what would have happened if we had drafted OJ. Obviosly the shaved ape would be long dismembered and a bloody hockey glove found somewhere. But it would be small and when they did the Cinderella test, it would only fit DDD.

What I am talking about is the lizard brain ability to live in a constanst state of disbelief. This is what makes the fans rise when a team with no hope goes on a march. Its like we all expect the Black Knight in monty python to recover from his flesh wounds in time for the big jost, and win the rose and live happily ever after with the 19 year old princess though he be well over fifty.

I am talking about the trouble with Kansas here. For which our tank is a real life metaphor. We know tanking is our only hope, yet we want to win so bad we will commmit slow suicide in lou of instant gratification beating down the downtrodden who share our foxhole. Bob Dylan expressed the sentiment this way " those who want to pull you down into the hole they are already in"

Everybody knows where the foot came from. The Anglos with all their asshattery decided it was a system of measurement. The French with their love of a good idea went all metric. How can EMty be French, his last good idea was to stop saying his players where the worst at something in the world, but yet we know he still thinks that way. If only he could skate shoot and score he would be able to explain the incomprenible mess that is his brain on ice.

Back to foot prints which are used to idenify babies, I do not know who choose thats not a finger paint on the document but sigh, I cant explain everything and most people do not care why. The big footprint is the one you leave on the planet. Giants of there times have stomped the land, crushing or impressing there peers in titanic accomplishments. Yet in his most poetic momeent they are as George W Bush said in history all dead. If a person is a drop in the ocean making a small wave, how many will be a platform to surf? Hardly anyone. How many will create a Tsunami, only the most rare.

Looking back how many hockey players will transend time. Gretzeky for sure even though I hate him cause he thinks Harper had a good stick. The Rocket and thats about it.

Look back a thousand years who stands out. Shakesphere which for me is beyond reason. Another player who struts on the stage full of sound and fury but to me is only puking incomphrensive rap on my lap. Betoven for sure, and Mozart, are you catching a theme here people, the real heros are artist. Not generals, not hacks, not manipulators of fact. Sill talking foot prints. How many footprints do you need to smother a planet? Its not an infinite number its a fact of nature.

Global warming deniers and anti tank providers share the same mentality. Sometimes something has to be less to be more.

So, apparently that arrogant, pompous prick behind the bench channeled his inner bully yesterday and called out one of the better players on the team, the one who only scored the winning goal yesterday and consistently plays a "heavy forecheck game". Lego, who fuckface Therrien hates. I have had enough of this asshole and his pet lap dog. I'm boycotting the Habs until those two are gone. I'm getting used to not seeing them play having only seen a game or three since early December anyway.

If Bergevin insists on keeping those two around fuck him too.

Get well soon moe, I'll still follow this blog and chat with my cyber FHFriends. Not to mention I'd never miss Sexy Friday. Thanks to HF29 for stepping in and say Hi to all my fellow Maritimers at the Super Sexe later. OK?

Big TiTs could have been a force but the team would have had to find a way to keep him off the sauce.

I know juce wouldn't agree but they have to lose the rest of the year just so they can ditch The Bully and move the team forward. TTFT (Tank To Fire Therrien)

  4. Great fill once again 29. I watched the entire game last night (it started at 7pm my time) and I thought they played well. Didn't notice Patches and DDD much at all to be h0onest. PFK was solid and Sievens played strong in the 1st to keep them off the wrong side of the scoresheet for a change and from there on it was a pretty decent game. Not sure why Lego would have been called out by anyone except for praise He played well - skated and handled the puck strongly too. I didn't see him pu a foot wrong...unless it happened when the feed went out between goals 3 & 4...anyway it's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll and there's a long way to go for this season to mean anything so IGAAT everyone. 7. Hey FHFriends,

First and foremost, huge tanks to 29 for backing me up. Hilarious posts, great pics and tunes! Thanks also for all the kind thoughts.

I spent almost half a day between the fall on the ice, the ambulance, the quiet room, the MRI and then being shipped out to the hallway as, get this, someone needed the room to deliver a baby! I suggested they name the new boy Maurice.

On a serious note though, the injury, subsequent symptoms and eventually medical care has given me an added appreciation for the concussions we see happen, mostly in sport.

I went through the exact same things after slipping on some ice, landed very hard on my middle back but whiplashed up to my head. The back seems fine (see Naproxen), the MRI shows no initial effects (they make you come back a week later for a re-scan). I'll be off for a week as symptoms may re-occur. Crossing my fingers and toes (dexterity is back baby!).

    A couple of side notes.

Apart from excellent medical staff, what comes shining through in these life events are family, friends and neighbours.

Also important to note that despite one's faculties being diminished, I was very able to observe that both the paramedic and the main doctor that took care of me were fabulously gorgeous. Bonus, they truly liked my Habs slippers.

Again, great to be back, won't post as much for a few days and as always, GYFHG!

    5. Juce, I wish it was April 1st yesterday. Cancelled the SB party but dished out the chili to family and friends. This year's recipe was a combo of green chillies pulled pork (slow cooker) and ground moose meat from my sister. Secret ingredients (approx. a tablespoonful of each dark chocolate, instant coffee, cinnamon and peanut butter) made it to the batCH too!

    6. I'm putting off making the corn bread and raisin+whiskey-soaked bread pudding until next year or another occasion, like say the playoffs, or next year.

      Delete
    7. ohhhhhh...that bread pudding sounds out of this world. My non-hockey, Italian friend, who dropped by for some espresso yesterday, is making the chilli for one of the local sports bars for their SB party. That ground moose meat sounds very interesting. I have not had moose or deer since I was with my first love, his brother was a chef in some of the major inns in St-Donat, St-Adele etc.. and while visiting him there, that was the first time I had ever tried it, so long ago, I don't even remember whether or not I liked it. I do remember how out-doorsy my boyfriend was, always hunting and fishing. Which leads me to a funny story (though not to me at the time).

He used to snare rabbits in the woods and on one of our weekends up north he wanted to go check them and asked if I wanted to go along. Well, I thought it would be pretty could but he told me that it was warmer once you were in the woods so I agreed. We put on our snowshoes and he knew where to go, I just followed. City girl that I was, I tried to keep a bit of a distance while he checked the snares and collected his catch. I thought it was so cruel. After awhile I started to get cold and he gave me the keys, told me just to follow the tracks our snowshoes made on the way in and assured me he only had a few more to check and would be right behind me. He also asked if I could take a couple back....I didn't want to show what a coward I was, not even wanting to touch one and thought to myself 'well I have these huge mitts on, so I wouldn't really be touching them' so off I went following our tracks and one of my snowshoes slipped off and my leg sunk down into the snow onto my side while instinctively moving my arm to break a fall (sorry 'bout that moe) and still clinging to the rabbit in that hand, I heard it hit the tree near my arm and came face to face with these two dead rabbit eyes staring back at me. The things you do for love...

Got to admit though, they were delicious. I think I may even remember the title of the book for a recipe we tried, 'les recettes du petites gibiers'. St Emerilion red whine, mushrooms, onions but that's all the ingredients I remember, besides the poor rabbit of course. I won't go into how he 'prepped' them first. Then there was the time we went fishing....

  8. eMpTy simply does not like Lego. Ever since he became the coach he seems to go out of his way to put the guy down, he can't stand that Wilde was singing his praise when he said to him that Lego seemed to thrive facing a tough opponent.
"Gave the coach a chance to praise Eller for making pulp of Draisaitl. Eller told me he loves tough match ups. Coach passed it up. #dommage" You could almost see the steam coming out of his ears when Wilde asked him the question and his mind spinning to come up with a way to take any praise away from him - just can't have Lego feel good about himself. What an asshole, what coach does that? What coach puts down his own players to the public when a reporter is making a positive statement about him? If we can all see him do this during post-games, I can only imagine how he must treat him behind closed doors. Why the hell should players care or feel good about their game if the coach is only going to tear them down when they do well and especially when he's got them playing the worst hockey in Canadiens history since WW 2? So much for all his statements about 'we have to remain positive'.

When MT said after their loss to the Sabres that they can't defend, Nilan was right, it was just like when he threw the Pens under the bus.
I am tired of this shit coach and the 'coaching' prerequisite they hire them by. I should tell my son to apply for the job my kids have French roots, born and raised here and carry my ex-s name - that should make him qualify. No offence intended, again, I am not anti-French (my first true love couldn't even speak a word of English) but it is just fucking ridiculous, he shouldn't still be here when leading this team to such an historical collapse and we all know why he is.

Did Price make the team better than they are and hide the flaws? Yes, but I don't think they are not this bad either and Price being out is not and should not be the reason this guy keeps his job. I don't even know if tanking could result in kicking his sorry ass out the door. Eventually Price will be back - probably not this year - and will end up saving this sorry excuse of coach's job.

Will they make the playoffs? Reality says no but as a fan, I will be happy for the players when they do win a game, It tears me to see some of them when they lose, esp. Gallagher, my heart just broke after some of his post-game comments, so totally dejected and de-moralized. Yeah, I know they're all rich and yada, yada, some may deserve it but others not and I believe some really do care about the crest they wear and all the history and pride that went into that crest by those before them and to have such a historic collapse must surely affect them.

That's my rant for today. GYMFHG!

    1) As to juce's rabbit story, I snared rabbits when I was a kid (early teens) for money and food. My Mom used to bake them in the oven (slowly I think) they were tasty as I recall. I learned how to clean them, you got more money if they were prepped.

A lot of good things happened to paper over the cracks of the past couple of months but in reality not a lot has changed. MT only wants to talk about defence and Wilde nailed it once again when he showed that following Patches goal he continued to count his lines in order and went with the 3rd pairing on D and 4th line. In fife the giving the opponents a breather after they let in a goal. Shame no one will bring it up in the pressed. WOW! What a playoff round between Fowler and Matsuyama! Rickie finally fucked up and hit one into the water. All I can say is: Thank fuck eMTy doesn't caddy for any of these young guns, he'd be telling them to lay up on every hole - play conservative, fucking dickwad.

Anyway, so the Habs fuck up their draft position and take some heat off of MB. Meh, I don't care anymore, keep the arrogant fuck behind the bench so he can feed his lap dog big minutes, come to think of it, maybe he's getting a percengtage of DD's salary for minutes played. What other explanation could there be?

Agree on the American patriotism, nobody does it better. GaGa was damn good, that girl has some pipes.

On to some drinks - starting out with Gibson's Finest Rare and Canada Dry... to be followed by Glenmorangie 18 year old Extremely Rare single malt scotch that I picked up on the way home from Fla. It was on sale, regular price was $120.00US, I got it for $72.00 and because it wasn't a 40oz bottle they threw in a pint of Johnny Walker Blue Label ($45.00) FOR FREE!! Who needs Naproxen???

Yeah, I was looking at some different stuff and the young guy working the store said: Would you be interested in....
      Me: "I sure would..."

Yeah, Rickie should have laid up on 17, especially with a 2 shot lead. Maybe eMTy would have helped him on that hole. Fuck it, go ahead Rickie, bombs away.

Panthers starting to get their shit together. I want Newton to get the MVP simply as a big FUKC YOU to Buttman...er Goodell - whatever, they're just a couple of interchangeable assholes. The IA. MT is a card carrying member of the club too.

  69. Ugh, I do NOT Peyton to win this game. Well hey it's halftime time.

One more thing about the game. It's clear if they get to a shootout lately, eMTy's thought process goes something like this: (says to assistant coaches) "Hey remember that time I surprised everybody and put Flynn in and he scored!?" (says to Flynn) "Flynn, you're up." Then mutters to himself "I'm a frickin' genius."

If anyone has the time Netflix has the History of the Eagles documentary on now, great fucking history of a great '70's band out of LA. Loved the behind the scenes info, especially the feud between the late Glenn Frey and Don Felder. Three hours but well worth it.

  82. For those who used to stream NHL through Phoenix’s NHL addon. Apparently the league switched its streaming services so h@ckers now need to adjust. So far, I haven’t found a replacement on-demand service but live games can be watched just the same on Phoenix->Woody->Huddle Up.

  83. moeman, sorry to hear about your condition, but I see you're not letting it keep you too down. My wife nurses at the RoyalVic part of the SuperDuperHospital and you better keep your hands to yourself buddy, if that's who and where you were.

As for the games this weekend, I thought Sievens was one lucky fuck on Sunday. But he does do a decent job stick-handling and can even manage to smother the puck on occasion to get a timely whistle, showing us all why Condon, as much of a mensch as he is, is still probably a Peter Principle as a top-stringer. At least the boys seem to play like they believe there is a goalie back there, and he got himself in the front door for a chance at the Molson Cup for February, assuming it gets rewarded at all. Imagine if Sievens is in St. John's when the time comes! John Scott would surely be a shoulder for him to cry on, should that be the case.

The coaching is still a mystery. If anyone deserves second-guessing, it's this guy. DDD looked out of his league Sunday, and not only on the PP. Ugly puck management and outclassed in one-on-ones. And I hope Pateryn plays Tuesday. Hopefully the Senaturds will wear TB down tonight without managing to win.

Man, nobody can out-Tank the Oilers. Those fuckers have it down to a science. Another top end forward headed their way... defence? We don't give a fuck about defence.

eMTy-head will do his best to help the Habs get in that top 3 though, feeding DDD big minutes and lots of PP time.

Apparently eMTY-head has said: Stats don't say that DD is a good kid who tries hard.

Well fuck, put me on the ice and I'll try hard... and get the same results - SFA!

Somebody put out a stat today that DD has 4 PP points. All year. 0 since the end of November. Is somebody not paying fucking attention up in the pressbox? Hello!! MB!! What are your advanced stats geniuses telling you? Are you that afraid to get rid of your only francophone player? BRING UP ANOTHER ONE FOR FUCKS SAKE!!
