Man @HunterZThompson just went right after Bergevin on Galchenyuk playing LW. Bergevin said he's there because he's having success there.

I heard him with Melnick, but you need to listen to it.

    1. Mitch asked him if there is anything wrong between Max and PK and he said no. Mitch said is it possible that there is and you just don't know it? DGMB said, no because he definitely would know about it.

  10. Meh, whatever. I'm indifferent to all the moves, but I guess they do open up cap space this summer. Think of all the useless 4th line plugs that money can buy!

The comments that bothered me at the press conferences (after reading some) are the ones regarding Galchenyuk staying at wing and needing the draft to build the team. Tells me MB still doesn't understand what's going on. I mean, sure good draft picks are great. But you're really going to throw away a prime year or two of your core players to get a slightly better pick?

Anyway, I should know better than to get my hopes up but the Sharks played last night and a win combined with a Philthy loss would put the Habs in a tie for 9th, 3/5 points out of 8th depending on whether the Pens win. I'm not saying it's going to happen, just stating the facts. Knowing them they'll get swept in California now that they teased us sufficiently.

I should be able to join live since I'm done class at 11pm EST, but I'm often dragged out to long lunches with the young Chinese lady students. No one looks sexy slurping noodles, though.

  12. Regarding MB looking like Tom Hanks, I happened to tune in to catch the highlights just as the MB presser was being shown. The guys at TSN (or was it SN who the fuck knows) wondered if he consulted Wilson before making his moves. Would explain a few things actually.

I mentioned on the last thread that during Bergevin's interview one of the reporters asked him what direction the team was going. His reply: "The right one."

    Good to know.

I haven't had any expectations for this bunch after Price went down and that fucking buffoon still behind the bench. Management has been tanking for a while, unlike the leaf the Habs are pretending not to, to save some dignity.

As Brian Wilde has mentioned several times, in 4 years Bergevin has done nothing to improve the top 6 but has accumulated 12 3rd and 4th line plugs. C'mon Bergy, get out of the dumpster and give Peter Chiarelli a call. You both have lots of what each other needs.

Paul Byron, waving at his backchecks like a Wal-Mart greeter to the tune of two goals against, newly signed to a three-year contract.

Mike Brown, who couldn’t hack it in Vancouver, Toronto or Edmonton, chasing the puck like a St. Bernard running after cars.

Jacob De La Rose, who can probably find ways to turn a 3-on-1 into a 1-on-3, playing so badly that Therrien — who has “JDLR” tattooed in Gothic script just above his DD-in-a-heart tattoo — actually demoted him.

Philip Danault … wait, he played? Funny, couldn’t tell.

Victor Bartley and Mark Barberio getting turned into turnstiles.

This, my friends, is the glory of Marc Bergevin. Look upon it and despair …

… and yet some people, despite the fact that the Habs have six or maybe eight decent players, will blame those guys rather than the collection of concrete blocks they have to drag around. Let’s trade Plekanec! Eller! Pacioretty! Because then we can have a team composed entirely of fourth-liners and rejects.

  54. I suppose it was because of how bad the Goat was that when DGMB came on board I was incredibly gung ho in favour of him He joined from Chicago so he obviously knew what he was doing - they had won the Cup and would again since. But alas I now fear I am wrong. I watched his presser yesterday and I had horrible deja vu of the Goat - only wit a better beard. Mr "It's on me" is going to talk himself out of a job pretty soon. He takes great pride in talking about signing someone who coldn't cut it in NJ an to picking up SJ's reject because he's a better skater than the last reject he's buried on the Rock. Anyone with a burning passion for the CH is doomed to be shipped away before long - and that includes PFK. The Habs kept it close for 2 periods last night but then ran out of gas. "No Excuses" is the slogan over the dressing room door...WTF happened to that? How could they be so lifeless? Someone pointed out on the thread here somewhere that the Sharks don't dump and chase...Clearly for good reason. There was no excuse for playing like that last night. Habs can't afford to go 0-California - DGMB still thinks that there is a shot at the post season. He should be fucking sacked just for that statement alone - shows he's as fucking delusional as the fucking useless coach he's backing. There is no doubt that Geoff Molson needs to wake the fuck up and do something...this season is fucked - but just do something before we go through another summer of discontent...please...

      Delete
  57. I guess excuses are all the craze because that seems to be all that DGMB and his sidekick repeat as rote this season. MT's latest? "we are a young team" That must really eat him to the core since he has no clue on how to use / treat young players. Always passing the blame and using excuses when he should look in the fucking mirror and admit he's nothing but a failure and a re-tread. Obviously the players on the bench must be looking at his player selections / favouritism and shake their heads. As for DGMB supporting MT for playing gCHyuk at wing, well the stats prove otherwise.

According to tweets by Andrew Berkshire:

Galchenyuk was producing 2.1 points/60, and a 54.3% Corsi at centre.

    On the wing, he's producing 1.5 points/60, and a 51.8% Corsi.

There just isn't ANY basis whatsoever for Bergevin's excuse for keeping Galchenyuk on the wing.

The extra production Galchenyuk is seeing now has come from more time on the PP, where he's played wing all year. At ES, he's better at C.

Galchenyuk's penalty differential was also three times better at centre than on the wing.

Just to clarify, the idea that Bergevin pushed to @HunterZThompson that Galchenyuk is having success now and wasn't at centre is grade A BS.

What happened to DGMB's 'you build from the draft' and 'big centres aren't available, you can only get them if you draft them because the teams that have them, keep them'? Well he drafted him as a centre didn't he? The only reason possible is the name on the back of the jersey and gCHyuk's doesn't start with 'D'. And don't tell me that they don't know about the stats, didn't they hire a stats guy?

  58. RTe-watched the DGMB presser on H I/O - I got nothing...He doesn't even talk a good game any more. And the thing that I'm getting - the feeling I can't shake - and it really upsets me - is that I don't believe a word he is saying. Mrs. K3X and I have raised 4 kids - 2 are late teens and 2 are early teens - and I think I'm a pretty decent judge of when someone is lying to me - thankfully my kids have not done very much of it - but I will never forget the feelings I have had inside me when I knew that they were telling me a lie - it hurts and it makes me very angry. You feel disappointment that they don't respect me enough and value my importance in their being enough to tell me the truth. How dare they! Without me they wouldn't be here and now they think they can tell me a lie...I don't think so! You lose a little bit ofrespect for your own child when/if they lie to you. There is a sense that you have to question everything they say to you - and that lasts a long time. You watch them and test them and they have to prove themselves to you. When they do - you are happy but you remain wary that it can happen again. You hope it doesn't... When I look at DGMB when he is talking and I feel exactly the same way. He's been dishonest. He's lied. He's not told me the truth. I do not trust him. How dare he!

    Replies
    1. I was listening too. Strange that all this 'trouble' in the room arises just before the meaningless WC rosters are to be set - it's all in the timing I guess. RDS does not have him on their projected roster either and we all know how $Babs feels about him and with DGMB part of the management I think that will also work against him. I also can't help but feel that DGMB and MT are none too please about being excluded and totally in the dark when PFK held a press conference, made the donation to the Children's hospital and were totally blind-sided and felt slighted and upstaged. Remember also, that DGMB had all individual current player pictures - even those of TFS - removed and replaced but they have absolutely no control over such external activities which they probably feel made him 'bigger' than the team. He did something positive, he didn't party or embarrass them by crashing his truck or caught on film partying in any way so they can't scold him or suspend him for it. So much for all the 'character' preaching they do because PFK has just that.

      Delete
    2. I also think if they could find a way to pin THEIR epic collapse of this team on PFK, they would.

      Delete
    3. Becuase it looks like no Canadian team will make the playoffs, there will be huge focus on this tranna pissing contest. Dickwad from tranna hates PFK so he won't be selecte first. he'll be a mercy piuck but critiqued because of his defensive weakness. The two fucking clods who run the Habs won't say fuck all because they hate him for being black and better than any other player on their team, and all anyone will want to talk about is how overrated one of the best defencemen in the game today is. TFS shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as team Canada - but he will - and to be honest - it's a fucking made up tourney created by the SFU and Buttman and it has absolutely no credibility. Anyone remember anything about the last one? When was that again (without looking it up!...) I thought so!
