  1. Ok, so I listened to the game on the radio Friday at the hunt camp. Seemed to be interesting. What's frustrating about listening to the game on the radio, at the hunt camp, is that we get the game right before puck drop and as soon as the last horn sounds, we lose the signal. So I didn't get any interviews, comments etc...I read a little about it this morning. I love PFK.

  3. Why do I suddenly feel like going for a bicycle ride??? I'm hearing a lot about Chip having to be dealt before the trade deadline or else we lose him for nothing at the end of the year...which doesn't make sense as the Habs can re-sign him if they want and in the meantime unless they can get something better, what's the point - they'd only have another void to fill up front. If Dickless could stop moving him around and put him on a line where he could develop some chemistry he's shown that he can produce as a 3rd/2nd liner and that is something the Habs could use...but what do I know...IGAAT - Just fucking win (please...)!

  4. It's not unheard of that a player is traded away as a rental and returns. Doesn't happen too often. I don't know the rules, but could MB 'legally' say to CHip, "we're going to trade you, but if you are available on July 1, we might be interested."? Not that I think he would say that - doesn't seem like the sort of thing he would do. But why not? Engles figures CHip will get $3M/4Yrs on the open market. Who would've figured when we picked up this no-name that he would be a sought after rental player in line for a big payout. Whatever happens with him, great for him and his family. But how often do you get a guy of his calibre that actually bleeds blue/blanc et rouge? IMHO he is well worth that payday.

    1. Actually, over the week-end, Parenteau says re-sign with the Leafs next season even if he's traded, so I think they do discuss it and if they don't, well PAP just told the leaf he would do just that publicly.

I tell you one thing, there is no way I would take my month-old baby to a hockey game or practice. There are just too many people around and sometimes people do stupid things.

Whenever I need my spirits lifted, I like to take a walk on a really nice trail that was constructed along the waterfront called Harbour Passage. It was high tide this morning so it looks even better. It's nice to stroll by Long Wharf where lobster traps are piled up and a scallop dragger was tied up there today as well. This all takes me back to my youth and my brief career as a commercial fisherman. It was a beautiful, sunny, albeit brisk day and there is basically no snow at all here. This is a huge contrast to this time last year when we were inundated with metres of snow.

I'll be glad when this lost hockey season is over and hope that my beloved Canadiens can rebound this October with new, progressive thinking coaches who will let the players use their skills. In the meantime, February is almost over and Spring (and golf season) is just around the corner.

  55. I am troubled by a lot of the goings on in Hab land recently - I have remained relatively quiet because I have removed the emotion from my thought process. And this hasn't been easy. I bleed bleu blanc rouge and have been since I was a small boy old enough to catch a puck in the head at practice. I remember the first Stanley Cup the Habs won for me in 1971, with Ken Dryden in nets and Jean Beliveau lifting the Cup for the last time. It was magical! And then I remember crying the next year as they lost in the first round to the Rangers - Ed Giacomin, Jean Ratelle, Rod Gilbert - fucking pussy nonces! Calisse I hated those fucking guys! And so it went through he 70's and early 80's - loads of highs and enough lows to make me cry a few more times. A lot of crying in the latter part of the 80's, mainly because I was forced to live in leaf land by my parents ('89 I was despondent!)...and more joy in the early 90's...then in '95 I moved to the UK and took a sort of "hockey sabbatical" as I grew accustomed to my new surroundings. The internet of everything was not really running that well, so following the season was difficult. As the internet improved and streaming improved I started to re-visit Habs land - I found 4HF and host of other blogs (none as good!) and really started to re-ignite my passion for the game and Habs. In my mind I was re-living the glory years and watcing Dryden hand the torCH to TFS last year told me that good things were coming. And I believed that...until around the All-Star break this year.

Whatever in the hell happened to make the Habs trade a potentially excellent defenceman for a bag of pucks and all the ridiculous PR that followed made me think I was living in leaf land all over again. And it hasn't improved since then either. I thought DGMB really knew what he was doing. Now I'm not so sure. I thought there was a master plan. A master plan can't ever revolve around 1 player. The Habs Master plan certainly seems to have. And there is no plan B. There is secrecy and disdain for anyone who dares ask a question. Upper body this, lower body that (most of the time) is all you learn. When TFS has an operation in mid June, wait for all the reasons they give for why it didn't happen in January. They were too busy telling us it was a lower body injury to admit his knee was fucked and needed surgery. So let's wait...wait on the excuses. But worst of all I fear waking up in early September to find that Michel Therrien is still coaching the Montreal Canadiens - at which point I will turn off the laptop and be forced to take another "hockey sabbatical"...That is what I will have to do...I won't have any choice. I'm getting too old to cry without a really good reason!

I haven't really watched a game since the mid-December road trip. I decided back then I could no longer stand the sight of this particular coach behind the bench, the reason being he doesn't know how to coach. He plays his favourites extraordinary minutes, mixes lines at random constantly, plays the wrong lines at crucial times of the game and fails to adjust to the opposition's strategy during the game. He prefers an antiquated dump and chase "System" and has under-sized players trying to play it. His attitude towards the press and fans is dismissive and smug. He is a bully. He lies.

As for the GM, I'm undecided as yet. However, I'm starting to think he may be in over his head. He seems hesitant to make a big move to help his team as witnessed by the Price injury. His plan was/is to build through the draft but unless you can get a Toews or Crosby type player you may be treading water for years. Sometimes you have to roll the dice and he should realize that a change of scenery is good for certain players and both teams may benefit from a move. The absolute first thing he has to do is get rid of Empty if he wants the Canadiens to make any progress.

Too fucking funny... had to share!!

Leaving aside the the advisability of signing Byron — exactly the opposite of what the doctor ordered — the timing of the deal seems like a big FU from Bergevin.

Having done nothing constructive (and said only things that added fuel to the fire) during the slide many of us were not surprised to see once Price went down, Bergevin comes up with this tidbit at a time when everybody and his dog is analyzing every little thing done or not done, said or not said.

“FU. Now I’m off to see my tailor.”

  59. Anyone notice how much praise MT is giving DLR? ...'and he's only 20, points will come with time'
He has not done that where Galchenyuk is concerned nor did he allow him to play centre so soon as he did with DLR and I am reading that Galchenyuk is being shopped as aggressively as Eller. These 2 players have never been given a fair opportunity to excel, both were held back and mis-used and the common factor in both cases is MT and his favouritism of his chou-chou.

According to Le Brun, teams were calling about Byron. I like Lb so far, it's a small sample size (no pun intended) but the cap hit is reasonable and he works hard and has hustle and has more pts short-handed than DDD has with all those minutes he gets on the PP. In comparison it boggles the mind that they would prefer this signing while trying to sell players like Weise who bleeds bleu, blanc, rouge and Galchenyuk. Maybe they are trying to move DDD and replace him with Lb?...just kidding, MT would commit Hari-Kari.

Please MB, FIRE THERRIEN, he is the reason for this historical collapse, not the absence of Price.
