    WOW!

"Galchenyuk has five multi-goal games over an eight-game span, a feat accomplished by the late Jean Béliveau from Feb. 28 to March 15, 1959. Galchenyuk has 11 goals and one assist during his eight-game run; Béliveau had 13 goals and 10 assists."

In a 6 team league yet! Those are Gretzky-like numbers!

    @the Maritimer,

    NHL ✔ ‎@NHL
    Alex Galchenyuk
    March 2 - 2 goals
    March 5 - 2 goals
    March 8 - 2 goals
    Tonight - 2 goals
    9:47 PM - 10 Mar 2016

"He has now found the back of the net 11 times in his last eight games, adding one assist during that stretch.

Galchenyuk has had six multi-goal games since Feb. 12, and is the first Canadien since Brian Savage in 1995 to post multi-goal games in three consecutive contests, and the first Canadien since Jean Beliveau in 1959 with five multi-goal games in an eight-game span."

Per @EliasSports: Alex Galchenyuk is first @CanadiensMTL player with 4 multi-goal efforts in a 5-game span since Rejean Houle in 1980."

Imagine if Shit-head coach and his inflated ego had given him more ice time earlier, maybe those 1-goal losses would have been wins instead and they would be in a playoff position. Have to wonder if DGMB and Molson consider that instead of using TFS as their excuse. They lost some games where they dominated the opponent and should have had a better result. They may not be Cup contenders but there is enough talent on this team than their record shows.

Likely he won't keep this pace, but man, isn't it fun to see?

That was quite a run by Beliveau back in '59----23 points in 8 games, over 3 point per game pace.

Amusing how the coach gives Alex credit for finally "maturing" into his current form, despite his best efforts to "shelter" him on the wing while playing the hell out of an unproductive DD. Too bad #27 couldn't have got some of those PP minutes wasted on DD as well. Oh well, what's past is over, so no sense dwelling on what could have been.

I'll be extremely disappointed if Therrien is back next year. I don't see them making any headway with him at the helm. If Mr. Molson wants to tread water so be it.

    2. I think we all agree, the M, Therrien has to go.

      Delete
    3. We agree but I am really starting to think that DGMB won't make the move until he fucks up next season...especially if the Habs go on a bit of a run towards the end - especially if TFS comes back to play a half dozen games or so...he'll justify not sacking him by showing you what they could do if he had TFS for the whole season...blah blah blah...that's my worry anyway.

  3. Yes! Spring ahead, my fave season, the re-birth of flowers, leaves on trees, birds CHirping, longer days, cracking the windows open without needing the AC's and just a feeling of life anew.

  4. Hudon looked at the 4th line, didn't see his name, texted his parents that he wasn't playing, Lb told him he was on the 2nd line with him an PleXXXe.

  5. Cut the lawn for the first time today. UK doesn't spring forward for another couple of weeks but it was a pretty wicked afternoon in deepest Kent. 15C and sunny. So PFK gets the night off - should be interesting to see the Habs without him. As always...just fucking win!

Lower body you say? I suggest we nickname the newest Hab ouCH! As in "ouCH Matteau!" (my toe). After all, stubbing said appendage could have caused this lower body injury.

Funny, I was looking at some hockey cards from the mid 2000's, remember the Three Amigos? Theodore, Mickey Ribs and Pierre Dagenais... I'm wondering with all the rumours about young Mr. Matteau if he will be the latest version of Dagenais?

  39. Morning FHFers!

As usual the 3rd period is not working on gamecenter. Woke up a bit late, saw the end of 2nd and the intermission without one hiccup, literally 7 seconds into the 3rd it froze and won't start up again. Luckily, the Habs suck so I don't really care that much about 3rd periods these days. But I won't be renewing my subscription next season. Not a great business model they've got going on.

Anyway, are they eliminated officially after tonight?

  46. One thing I'm amazed at this year is that Montreal has only been shut out once all season (so far). Considering how bad they got, and how they couldn't score for months, I'm surprised by that. I think they were shutout lots more last year.

They still got a shot at a top 5 pick. The SFUcker Network is keeping track of the lottery standings, proudly displaying their leaf as No. 1... Hey, they are first at something!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Haha, leafies are in an uproar over Duthie's odds. They strived to be 30th just to end up with better odds at picking 4th than they do 1st.

"Sobering math for Leafs or whoever comes 30th: almost 50/50 chance (47.5%) last place team drops all the way to 4th in NHL Draft Lottery.

Odds of where last place team will pick in NHL Draft:

      1st: 20%
      2nd: 17.5%
      3rd: 15%
      4th: 47.5%"
