Managed to play 4 rounds so far, but man it's been freezing and windy. I broke 90 once but it's so cold I can't get my body warmed up enough to swing properly plus it's like hitting a rock off the tee. The ball will barely compress.

Is BBB doing any work done lately or just visiting his tailor?

So do'n you kids worry about da lottery. I'm sitting here in my jacuzzi wit my rouge blanc bleu banana hammock on, drinking one of dem new Molson 1908 beers. Did you know dat was the first year Montreal won da Stanley Cup and Bob Cole did the play by play?! I'm such a lovable joker of course. Now you know dat too! An i couldn't tell you if anyting i said is actually true. Mark tells Strombo he doesn't have a lucky charm with him, but he actually has Davey tucked in his coat pocket, periodically rubbing Mark's left nipple for good luck. So we're good to go and I will tell you we will take that Laine cat wit da first pick. He's a big kid that would keep a large part of the bench warm for when Davey gets of the ice. Of course we know it's written in stone - Bettman promised Arizona their local kid, so they get #1. Rogers owns the league and the leaf, so they get #2, and we get #3 for putting up with that John Scott guy that everybody hates. Right? So with da number tree pick the obvious choice is Alex DeBrincat. Perfect player. Perfect size. Fits in Marks udder pocket perfecly.

  26. So it's official: MB made that trade for no reason and try to be coy about it to cover it up.

Of course the leaf will pick first. That was decided 12 months ago.

Boudreau got fired, and he actually won his division and made the playoffs! MT could be hit by a bus tomorrow and MB would put a cardboard cutout of his ugly mug behind the bench. The scary thing is, no one would even notice, including the players.

    1. evert day I read or hear something that confirms the above. eMTy is an empty suit. He does not talk to the players, he does not care about moneyball, he plays his favorites and hopes TFS is in net. If David DDD jumps over the boards for the first PP of the year, its going to be a long long season and like it or not we are in tank mode.

    2. Did you know eMTy actually had a little spring board installed on the bench so DDD could jump over the boards?

Bargain Bergy does nothing but pick another young D, Chychrun or Sergachev. There's no saviour (Stamkos) on the way. Get ready for more of the same old same old next season. Like Steve said, an empty suit behind the bench will tap wee Davey on the shoulder more than anyone else. Every Sunday morning BB will have a novena said at his church for Carey price's knee. He may even have his priest bless it. Bargain Bergy could have saved face and cleaned out his dump and chase coaching staff but chose not too. Karma is going to bite him hard.

  29. I'll let J.T. speak for me:

    http://montrealgazette.com/sports/jack-todd-draft-lottery-leaves-a-bad-smell-hovering-over-nhl

Why would the NHL want to arrange the result? Sure, Rogers paid a bazillion dollars for the broadcast rights. Yeah, the ratings for the network’s game telecasts are down there where the submarines roam, so Rogers is taking a bath on its NHL investment.

And yes, the Toronto Maple Leafs are the linchpin of that whole broadcast deal and they’ve been rancid since around 1967. But rig the draft so that the NHL’s pet franchise gets a crack at the top pick? Only a greedy, money-obsessed sports league would even … oh, never mind.

What is more troublesome than the possibility that the NHL might have rigged the lottery is the process that brought us to this point: Blatant, persistent tanking is fatal to a sports league. Any league. The players on the ice may be trying hard, but when management has already ensured failure by shipping out most of their high-priced players, that’s tanking.

That’s what the Toronto Maple Leafs did this year: they tanked. That Brendan Shanahan is being praised for tanking is so mind-bending, we won’t even go there. Somehow, even with the lottery percentages altered to give the league’s worst team only a 20 per cent shot at the top pick, the Leafs still beat 5-to-1 odds to waltz away with the chance to draft Auston Matthews.

The lesson? Tanking pays. The way to end it? Give all 14 non-playoff teams equal weight in the lottery. No team is going to tank for a chance to draft 14th.

On the other hand, here’s one for you: Since Mike Modano was drafted No. 1 overall in 1988, 27 players, beginning with Mats Sundin, have been taken in the top spot. Among those 27 players, they have won only five Stanley Cups: Patrick Kane has three with the Blackhawks, Vinnie Lecavalier won once, and Sidney Crosby and Marc-André Fleury shared one with Pittsburgh.

That’s it. Five Stanley Cups — and one guy has three of them, so 23 top picks never got a sniff of the champagne. So after all the tanking, the controversy, the hype, the buildup that makes every top pick sound like Bobby Orr — the truth is that except in rare years when a player like Connor McDavid is available, it’s all a lot of lukewarm air.

Silly trade talk, part 12,456: As for the folks who think it’s a good idea to swap P.K. Subban to the Leafs for the chance to draft Matthews — get real. I wrote a few weeks ago that at times this season Subban seemed like a separate planet from the Canadiens organization, but that doesn’t mean you give away one of the league’s handful of premier defencemen for a draft pick that may or may not pan out.

There is simply no way you trade Subban for Toronto’s top pick, or for Edmonton’s No. 4 pick, not even if the Oilers throw in a surplus elite forward or two. Subban dominates 30 minutes a game. There are no more than five or six defencemen in the league like him, while there are a couple of dozen forwards who will likely grade above Matthews for years to come.

The problem for the Canadiens is that their window to win a Stanley Cup with their current nucleus is about as long as the prime (and good health) of Carey Price, which means they can’t give up any key part of that nucleus (Subban, Brendan Gallagher, Max Pacioretty or Alex Galchenyuk) to build for a future that may not be there.

So while Subban may have some fence-mending to do with his teammates and the organization, he’s simply not a guy you can afford to lose unless the return is overwhelming.

Here's the bottom line in my mind now. Without Carey Price, who evolved, or developed into an elite goalie the Montreal Canadiens are an average or perhaps less than average hockey team. We can see that Max is not a great leader, PK is maybe not a "team" player and the other elite talent Galchenyuk, is still finding his way. Other than Gallagher there is no help for those four core players. Still, MB has something to work with with those 4 players but there are two individuals who undermine everything, Therrien and Desharnais. Statistics and your own eyes will tell you this. Some day MB may see this as well and will act, or Molson will do it for him. One more season should tell the tale.

  53. The M - spot on as always - sadly - it will be Geoff Molson who see the light. BBB is dead to me after his "No Accountability" performance at the end of the year. He is a fucking knob who won't be told because he knows best - FUCK OFF! I had such high hopes when he came on board. He's killed it. he justifies keeping the AHL coaching staff in tact because of how many players they had to call up. Bullshit - other teams had similar issues. That what farm teams are about - you coach and manage players for the eventuality that they get called up. There is not justification to keep T'es rien (love that juce!) in his role - he is a spent force and no one is really going to want to play for him. Every 6-10 ranked junior player is shitting themselves right now hoping they don't get drafted by the Habs and that absolute fuckwit of a coach. The fucking Habs have become the fucking leaf right in front of our eyes and it won't get any better until "It's on me" asswipe is gone!...and that's my contribution for the month of May people...sorry to be a killjoy but I am beside myself with loathing and hatred for what BBB has done to my beloved Habs. I plan to ride it out and not let Arrogant Fuckface rile me up anymore. Nothing I can do about it anyway. BBB has tied himself to his foxhole buddy and Molson will have no choice but to jettison both.

Lots of golf to be played and watched plus the NFL will begin training camps soon. I shot an 86 yesterday putting on greens that are still full of aeration holes from last fall. And it's still damn cold!

Finally, the Habs will NEVER be the wretched, shameless leaf!

    2. Hear, hear, the M & K3X!

BBB reportedly was one of the first to try to get Panarin, whom he offered more money than the Hawks but Panarin chose the Hawks citing their 'open style' of playing. Players won't want to come here, they see T'es rien coaching and how he publicly throws star players under the bus even when others blew their coverage, plays DDD no matter what to the detriment of Galchenyuk stunting the development of a potential future NHL star and can't even make a rookie coach decision whether he should be a winger or a centre FOR 3 FUCKING YEARS!

He hangs a plaque "NO EXCUSES" above the locker room door which does not apply where he is concerned, all he's done was make excuses for himself all season and his biggest one was TFS (how prophetic was that nick?) while he had no idea what the hell to do without him. Doesn't he realize that if Price is the only reason for the teams success that it makes him totally irrelevant? Moron.
