I can't figger out this World Tournament. On one hand it makes complete sense. CHucky is not dere. He's not ready. That makes sense. But NO DAVEY?! What? They don't want to win? Da big ice is perfeck for him. Not like Gally will take advantage - all he does is park his tight little ass in front of da crease. What's dat all about? Wit all that space, waste of a spot...oh I see the head coach is some guy named Peter Bills. How anglo can we get eh?! Maybe for da best that me an' Davey aren't there. It gives us more togedder time. Don't tell him but I'm working on a 'aiku for him for Mother's Day...you know what I mean. What do you think?
    Davey, please come here
Rest your head on my shoulder
    Now slowly move down

Is dat not the most romantic thing you've ever read? You know 'aiku's were invented by General Montcalm. Dat's true. Now you know what I know. But there's still so much you don't know. But we know.

  7. Ironic that the 'stats' people of the SFU don't accept John Chayka's 'statistical credentials' simply because THEY don't know of them and THEY haven't tested them amongst themselves so don't give his stats their stamp of approval. Get a life outside the SFU, boys.

Haven't read about him but a sound-bite I heard sure hit home. "excuses will be eradicated". Geoff Molson, take note, you may get to sue that one.

  8. Nice SF moeman. Per usual.

I've tuned into watch Raonic lose to Djokovic again. Wonder if 29 is watching. I thought wow these ball girls are hotter (and older might i say) than I've seen at most events. A bit of googling and I learn that the Madrid open replaced traditional ball girls with models a number of years ago. And nothing against the 'traditional ball girl/boy' (whatever that is), but these girls really seem to know how to handle balls and wipe sweat off a guy's brow. At the same time!

Anyway, go Milos. Home that is. Soon. Unless you have a miracle in those balls.

    It's Free Comic book Day!

Just listened to a man on the CBC radio say he lost his comic collection in the Fort McMurray fires that his Mom shipped put to him. He estimated they were worth about $20,000.00. That's sad, hopefully his insurance company will help him out.

I still have some of my collection from my youth. Cheez, some of those things are 50 years old now. Crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  13. My parents owned a summer biz that included a comic book rake. Oh the money I threw away as a kid. My collection now is just The dark knight returns (mint) and Letter 44 issue one and two. The way things are going Lego and comic books are a better investment than the stock market. I bought Nortel, should have just bought beer instead. Would have enjoyed the beer and the empties would have brought a higher return.

  22. I'm not a stats person. as y'all know, my own eyes (and obviously your own) knew this already.

"Michel Therrien has an interesting distinction in the research I’ve been doing about NHL coaching changes: he’s given me 4 instances where he and his replacement have coached 20+ games within the same season. He’s also replaced or been replaced in three of those instances by legit coaching talent – he replaced Alain Vigneault for the Montreal Canadiens in 2000-01, was replaced two years later by Claude Julien, and lastly was fired in favor of Dan Bylsma for Pittsburgh in 2008-09. What’s incredible about these three cases is that, in every single one of them, there was a drastic change in outcomes for the teams involved. Using 2pS%, or possession measured by two-period shots-for divided by two-period shots-for and against together, the numbers tell a story:

Michel Therrien is a demonstrably bad coach."

I haven't watched a single hockey game this playoffs. BBB's spirit crushing year end conference has left me feeling eMpTy. I'm trying to watch Team Canada at the W.C. but there have been no interesting games. My interest in professional hockey is slowly being drained out of me by buttman's parity strategy and the continuing incompetence of the Montreal Canadiens management and general lack of talented players. Not much to cheer for theses days. I can't even get interested in the Draft anymore. We Habs fans can't even pick on leafools anymore because our team has been irrelevant for 23 long years. Something good better happen soon, and not another damn 5 year rebuild.
