29 Presents A Summer of Star Trek Sexy Friday

Bon Vendredi Sexy mes ami(e)s and greetings nerds! 'Tis I, your once and former overlord HF29 giving moeman a well-deserved and long overdue week off. You may recall that a few years back, I presented (by the M's request) the very first Star Trek Sexy Friday. At the time I did Sexy TOS, expecting to follow up with the various serieseseses as the years went by. Well, three years later and I have done no follow up whatsoever! So there is no hope in hell I'll do each series in turn. Not to mention the Animated Series! That was sexy. But with the new movie out this summer (which I haven't seen yet, no spoilers!) it seemed like the perfect time to slap together some random pics of some of the sexiest Star Trek moments and actors from across the Trek universe (minus TOS). Sexy captains, lesbian Trills, and space yoga - we've got it all! We'll finish up with some other stuff and sexy Canadian Olympic medalists, because Star Trek isn't everything [/loses nerd cred]. GYFEnterpriseG!

Well done 29! For the record, my number one Trek babe was Jeri Ryan aka Seven of Nine, followed closely by Jolene Blalock aka First Offer T'Pol. There is something very sexy about emotionless women.

As I stated earlier I didn't care for the new Trek movie, there is nothing really cerebral about it and there is a homage event to one of the earlier Trek movies, you'll know it when you see it.

I have some hope, from what I've read, about the new upcoming TV series, Star Trek: Discovery as it will be aligned with the original timeline and connected to Kirk's time frame.

It's funny, I couldn't warm up to Zachary Quinto as Spock, as my first viewing of him was as the supremely evil Sylar in the Heroes TV series. Apparently, Leonard Nimoy played bad guys in the 50's and early 60's TV series, but I have no memory of those prior to his Spock. Nimoy is the only Spock. I'm OK with the rest of the new actors, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, et al but they are not "my" Trek characters. Re-runs are OK with me.

    Cheers!

The Axanar project looked pretty good until CBS or Paramount got their knickers in a knot and told them to cease and desist. I'll bet HF29 wouldn't have objected to another fan film.

  14. Asian-Inspired Beef Short Ribs

6-8 beef short ribs, seasoned with salt and pepper
2-3 large carrots, peeled and cut into long chunks
2 onions, cut into large wedges
    1 cup beef broth
    2 tbsp. soy sauce
    1 1/2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. Chinese 5 Spice Powder
    1/4 cup sherry
    4 garlic cloves, minced
    1 inch fresh ginger, minced
1 tsp. rice wine or sherry vinegar
1 tbsp. Sriracha or Sambal Oelek
3-4 stalks (?) baby bok choy, quartered
    1/3 cup chopped, fresh cilantro
    fresh lime juice for serving
Heat oil in browning slow cooker or dutch oven. Brown ribs on at least two sides. Remove from pot.
Throw in (and season…lightly) the onions, carrots, garlic and ginger and spice and stir until fragrant, a minute or two.
Put ribs and veggies in the crockpot. Stir in the broth, soy sauce, sherry, and cover.
Cook on low for 5-7 hours until ribs and veggies are fork-tender, less time if you cook on high. (I overcooked the veg a bit.)
Stir in the baby bok choy. Cook for 1/2 to 1 hour more, ’til it wilts a bit.
Skim some of the fat from the top of the pot. (It will be be quite fatty.)
Stir in the Sriracha and vinegar.
Serve over hot cooked rice, with cilantro and fresh-squeezed lime juice.

  22. On his first conversation with coach Therrien shortly after the trade:

“I talked to him a bit the first time I came to Montreal. I did my rounds, met all the staff, went through the practice facility as well. I sat down and had a talk with him. We were just shooting the s— really. Kind of just talking hockey. Nothing said where I’ll be playing, but he expects things changing game in, game out, like they always do. Things aren’t going well, you change it. From what I hear, all the guys like him as a coach so I’m excited to be on his team.”

Proving it is easier to change the whole team than the coach if he is a foxhole guy. Lego would not buy me any Cophenhagen Lego, CHip refuesed to call me Dutch Coach. And PFK, he refused to play "Non, je ne regrette rien" Now all the players except gCHuck like me. You know what happens to CHcuky in the movies.

Here is a great link for the Habs prospects: http://www.dobberprospects.com/montreal-canadiens-august-30-in-30/

My interest in my beloved Habs took a huge hit after last season's epic train wreck and the subsequent end of the year proclamation that it was everybody else' fault except the knucklehead behind the bench. On top of that all the shenanigans of Bargain Basement Bergy's undercover dispatching of fan favourite PFK. It was like being pummeled by Joe Frazier for an hour.

As hockey season approaches (the Saint John Sea Dogs open training camp this Friday) I am going to try and regain some of my spirit, but remain in contempt of the coach, whose hiring I thought was "Therrible" to begin with. So, all I have to look forward to is keeping an eye on some of the prospects whether they are playing for the incompetent Habs coaching staff or, hopefully a more free thinking junior coach. Forget Lefebvre, he is useless as well, only promoting the Empty "system".

As I have said, no matter who gets brought in to make our team better there are two roadblocks, spelled "mtdd". When both are removed they may have a chance, however slight, to actually make some progress. Until then, they will remain a laughingstock team in the eyes of the hockey world.

Addendum: This is only my two cents worth and they don't even make pennies any more, hence the value of this rant = zero.

    1. Nice rant the M.

Worth almost half a nickel or a 5th of a dime, still worthy!

Us older (except the ever youthful Moey) need to CHeer on what is great about our team. Starts with TFS™ and works it's way from there.

Also, 'Youth' is a pretty decent movie.

  43. Tweeted:

Devante Smith-Pelly was also on Cabbie's podcast and spoke about PK Subban.
Said it felt really, really old school at times in Montreal.

DSP on Subban: "I could see that his personality and the coach's personality just didn't really work."

DSP had a "good feeling" PK would be traded...

"Me being there and seeing how your best player gets treated sometimes, it's like: why?"

Bottom line, management traded anyone who got friendly with PK but when they heard that he was Muller's favourite player in the NHL to watch they had to trade PK, you just can't have anyone on the coaching staff who doesn't see it their way and since Muller was just hired before they heard about it, well...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Still difficult to deal with the trade but we can only wish PFK luck with his career and hope that BBQ brings his leadership and skill to a long playoff run. He may not be as FHFun as PFK but I think his first big PP goal will have us CHeering.

We also, now, have three reasons to CHeer for Canada in the tranna Cup. TFS™, BBQ and as always, our country.
