29's half-half jersey to attend Bs game tonight ~ an oral history and open thread

The half-half jersey is the proud winner of the Molson Cup for November

Greetings comrades! Tis I, your once and past glorious leader 29 highly anticipating tonight's Habs-Bs matchup. Thanks to our fancy lawyer friends with all them fancy season tickets, we will be in the stands tonight proudly displaying the infamous jersey many have come to love to hate. But it's 1-0 in live games this season, so we're optimistic.

Many have asked about the jersey ("sweater"? some people say sweater; we don't). Some people think 29 actually ripped apart two jerseys to make one. Sacrilege! 4HF asked 29 to give an oral history of the jersey:
It's really not complicated. In the late 1980's, the Habs played in an arena called the "Montreal Forum". Your readers may have heard of it. There's a liquor store there now. In the Forum back then, there was a gift shop. I had wanted a Habs jersey for a while, but couldn't decide on a home or away jersey. I went into the Forum gift shop one day, saw the half-half jersey and said to myself "problem solved!". I bought the jersey. If I recall correctly I used a credit card. But back then, they slid your credit card (either CHargex or MasterCHarge) on this mechanical machine-thingy that went over a carbon copy receipt thingy which you then signed with a pen. That may be the hardest thing for your readers to believe now.
So that's it really. Since then, the jersey has taken on mythical proportions. It has traveled to arenas across North America. It has been subject to ridicule by private and public figures alike - been zinged by 29's own MP and been called "super ugly" by the Minister of the Environment. Fuck' em all. It's gorgeous. And it will bring victory tonight over the fuckin' Broons. Die Broons Die. GYFHG.

Cocktail du soir ~ 29's Milky Moe Way

1 oz. quality Canadian Whiskey (29 suggests Forty Creek Copper Pot)
1 oz. Amaretto di Saronno
2 oz. milk

Throw that shit over some ice in a glass, give a quick stir and enjoy. A delicious digestif, maybe with some pie or a black and white half-half cookie. Look to the cookie Elaine.

  2. Oh my God...theybused to sell them at the Forum? Can't believe I never saw it before finding this blog. Great fill in 29 - super sub as usual. You have adjusted to your valued role better than most. Just for you - Go you fucking half and half Habs go!

  3. OMG 29 its a fucking sweater, we sweat in it, we do not jersey, get milked like Clockwork Orange. Great history, it should be one of those little cameos on the CBC. Like fucking your sister. The good news is that Trump loves the Habs because with Russians we are now number one. Buttman is the kind of guy he treats like a fly and pulls the wings off just for fun. I have been catching up on the Trailer Park boys lately. Season ten man, netflicks gave the boys a plan and why would Gomish listen to his teddy bear when he could be plowing lucy? The point Rickey tried to make is that you need to be a lawyer these days to do anything, including getting laid, ask Assage double about that. Lucy tells him he will not get lucky if he drinks or smokes, so he does some shrooms and she still gets all pissed off, who will ever understand women? I know your connected so please here me now and believe me later. We should not send UN troops to Mali to prevent the slaughter, no they should be on the plane with the Habs as we play our game.

    1. For those of you that did not watch The Town, normal or extended edition, let me explain. The Town is in Boston and sweater, they say sweeter, nice sweeter like your covered in sugar, so as to avoid lawsuits commenting on sportswear America has adopted the term Jersey, but I still think a teat lawsuit is going to feed the mothers milk of litigation.

BTW, do you wash that jersey with the whites or the coloureds? (Imagine if I wrote that on social media!)

  42. So they finally show the 'blueline cam' shot (presumably from when the Broons entered the zone) and Jason York says it looks inconclusive. Why in 2016 is this such a fuzzy video? But it certainly appears the puck is still on the blueline when the skate was over the line. Meh, take the point I guess.

I saw a pictorial online with 62 different "celebs" who have passed this year - ranged from "local" like Alan Thicke to international names like Glenn Frey, David Bowie, George Martin and Earl Hamner. Not to mention Geordie Howe, Garry Marshall, Martin Cimino, Andrew Sachs and John Glenn...I think the number is over 200 when you add names like Muhammed Ali, George Kennedy, Rene Angelil, Abe Vigoda, Ken Howard and Joe Garagiola. I could go on...sadly...

Leafs are 49-81-22 since firing head coach Randy Carlyle. That is the worst record in the NHL in that time (since January 7, 2015).

Mike Babcock is the greatest coach in history. Just ask any SFUcker.
