  4. So I am going to start the new year by using a Canadian vpn and streaming the Habs v Pens tonight. Go you fucking Habs Go! And happy new year to all Habs fans wherever you may be. And to all of us who survived the great purge of 2016 - well played!

  5. And here I thought I was watching the live broadcast of the Spengler final. Oh well all's good I got stuff to do anyway. I was just going to follow up on the M's statement about this being really good hockey. That's spot on and these are b-list players. Aside from the extra room they have to move around, many of these players still have hopes of making it to the NHL or back to the NHL so they play with a little extra grit in their game. Players like The Wiz (who as I type this just got walked around and scored against short handed - he plays for Lugano), local boy James Sheppard and of course ZaCH. I really notice the extra width when a team is on the PP. So much more space for the 4 defenders to cover and for the team on the PP to maneuver.

Anyway, go Juniors, go Habs, go Old Wings (except Shamahan).

Great hockey. Skilled players who can actually use their skill.

Besides the ZaCH Fucale connection to the Habs (who ran the table for Team Canada) and played extremely well, here are few other tidbits the SFU's can munch on. Assistant Coach Gordie Dwyer, born in Dalhousie, NB, drafted by Montreal in the 6th round 1998. Assistant Coach Dave King (who has a great international CV) assistant coach for the Canadiens 1997-1999. GM Sean Burke currently working for Montreal as chief western pro scout.

Two former Habs playing for Lugano were Yappy Lappy Maxime Lapierre and PP Urologist James the Wiz Wisniewski.

One of my favourite players on Team Canada, this year and last was #89 Chris DiDomenico, who Kouleas kept referring to as a former leaf prospect but who I recall fondly as a former Saint John Sea Dog who was our best player for a couple years down here. He severely broke his leg playing in the wretched leaf system and was never the same player. He can still motor and be effective on the bigger ice. It's unfortunate the NHL brass can't see the benefits of the extra 15'.

Today's game was OK but not nearly as intense as the semi-final yesterday between Canada and Minsk. You could tell that Lugano didn't have the legs today after less than 12 hours turnaround. Canada was the better team regardless and props to them for being tossed together 5 days ago, getting beat up in Game 1, then winning 3 games in 4 days. Great job.

  6. I really enjoyed Frontier on Discovery channel. I just heard that former Hab Terry Ryan was a set-dresser and he brought Jason Momoa to a few Ice Caps games.

Mrs. Maritimer and myself will be out this afternoon and evening so I have my pvr set for the Canada/USA and Habs/Tuxedos games. I'll get up at my leisure tomorrow and watch them both.

Happy New Year to all my FHFriends, stay safe as you ring in the new year. Personally, I think it's the most overrated event on the calendar but what are ya gonna do?

NFL playoffs are coming up, new PGA season and lots of new movies to look forward to, if you are a comics fan like moi.

Oh, one last thing, the Sea Dogs traded for Habs D prospect Simon Bourque yesterday getting him from Rimouski, they are going for the Q championship and Memorial Cup this year loading up with some veterans. They also got goalie Callum Booth from the Remparts before Christmas and they'll get Chabot, Joseph and Zbotil back from the World Juniors. Going to be some good times in Harbour Station this spring, I hope!

And over at the other leaf shithole site known as snet, some moron is comparing the Wild/BJ game to the legendary Habs/Red Army clash in 1975. Sick fucks indeed. Low class as well for even suggesting it.

  10. Hey moe you certainly won't find the Habs/Red Army on any of the SFU channels. I recall it being played in previous years on a channel I no longer have, but can't recall which.

Anyway, we generally have quiet NYE celebrations in the St Pad household. Craziest it might get tonight is trying to find a decent movie we haven't yet seen. If so i'll pvr the Habs.

Have a safe and festive evening all and raise one to 2017 and dreams of #25.

  11. Headed out soon wanted to reiterate my good new years wishes t you kids!

Also to tell you a story. So much talk about the Habs-Red Army game of 75. I am not joking or being hyperbolic when I say that game is my very earliest memory. Not just sports memory, but memory period. Little 29 was a mere 7 years old, and was allowed to stay up to watCH the whole game. Back then I used to pretend I was the goalie - yes I was 29 even then. The rest of my family was watching something else, so I watched alone in my parents bedroom (home of the 2nd TV at the time). That TV was a little 12" deal, but it was colour at least. I remember thinking how cool the Russians were, what an amazing style they played. even at 7, I could appreciate it. But the Habs were dominant, but for Tretiak it would have been a blowout. What a game.

Full game is on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPacuJ-H5mw . Decent quality too

  12. 10 consecutive minutes into hnit, not a single mention of the Habs, all Pens.

Finally, they mention Habs injuries and then Dano. All of 2 minutes, then Jets.

  34. Right...so 2016 is gone...somehow it didn't manage to take AF off our hands so we need to deal with it. Loser points help but not when it should have been a winner 2 points. If the Habs can't hold a lead against Pittsburg they are fucked...simple as. If they can't get out of the division they have no shot at a Cup. Everyone gets injuries. No excuses - injuries didn't lose the game last night. The players on the ice did. If you are going to be defensive - learn to clear the fucking puck out of the zone. Time and time and time again they failed to clear the zone. TFS can't stop what he can't see. We all knew that the bullshit they fed us at the presser last year was just that. They didn't get to the playoffs because they were shit. Not because TFS was injured. Remember one thing as we go through 2017...Marc Bergevin is a fucking liar. When the Habs fail to make the playoffs - he knows his ass is toast, so he will lie until he can't lie anymore...lets hope the boys can win in spite of him...just don't listen to the press conferences anymore...you won't learn a thing you don't know already...there is my New Year's rant done...No go you fucking Habs go!

      Delete
    2. According to Basu, Habs needed a goalie to expose and didn't have one (other than TFS). Goalie has to be a pro, not an AHLer.

      Delete
  39. I would have to confirm with Dr Rechii but looks like PFK injury is related to whiplash. Damaged goods that is not going to be good for our karma. Farm Hand, we gotta farmhand. Ghetto must be going all argicultural. I am going to be optomistic for 2017. KidA is due a big rebound. CHe will resign, TFS will take a home town discount and little DDD will skate off into the sunset. Next season we will have CHevy, Jewel, SCHore (Sherbak) CH all playing and the cup is ours.
