  2. I can see the Vegas Knights who say Ni! winning a championship under the guidance of Gallant and Muller long before this franchise so long as AF is behind the bench and GMMB keeps maintaining the friends first attitude.

Yup, AF continues to look like a smart coach thanks to CP31. Got him a 5 year extension and keeps him in nice suits. Too bad he looks more orange than Youppi!

  8. We took N8 (17) the leaf took Percy (who) this year he is arguably the second best player picked at 30. Thats why I invest so much in time travel.

  11. Wow, KidA misses a wide open net and Mandela gets way out of his net, KidA trips over him. KidA is targeted now.

  12. Perry is a dirty bird.

  13. N8 just gets a punch after the whistle while the ref is standing between him and a duck. Nada.

  14. Just getting in.

  18. On the 1st goal BBQ directed the puck to Cogliano at the faceoff.

  19. Petty trips, no call.

  20. I hope KidA scores as payback for all the birds pecking at him tonight.

    CASH IT KidA!!!

  23. Crappy passing, can't even set up in the offensive zone.

  24. The best pass I saw tonight was from TFS to Lb when he was tripped and got the ducks got a penalty.

    1. Yeah, TFS is a good passer. Hope he doesn't pass on his next CH contract (see what I did there)?

  25. Refs sure don't waste any time sending a Hab to the box yet their blind to many Ducks infractions that should have been called.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Habs are well rested and the Ducks played last night, there should be more pep in their game.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nice work by Leko.

  29. (Y) in the box, no one knows why.

  30. Finished semi-bingeing 'WestWorld'. My kind of show. Weird, sexy, screen-stealing R.E.W. A solid 8.5/10.

  31. SFUers had both Vaatanen and Fowler as leaf yesterday. Fucking hilarious.

  32. Ducks are constantly abusing KidA,isn't BBQ supposed to be a physical guy and would make opponents pay, why isn't he laying out any Ducks?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think BBQ is tough in front of his own team's net. I don't recall him being a physical guy to retaliate or defend plays in front of opponent's net. Not suggesting he won't defend a teammate but he isn't usually near a KidA play. I'm not into fighting but I'd love to see n8 be the one to drop an opponent's jerk of jerks (see what I did there?) I may be using SWIDT in the future.

    2. During the tranna Cup I saw him make a few hits when the opportunity came up, not necessarily saying he should skate to the other end to retaliate but take a note - tonight he can choose one from many who were abusing KidA or any Duck for that matter. Maybe the tranna cup was a 'mob mentality'. I forgot who got a dirty hit, but a few different players on TC made it a point to hit that one player whenever they could.

      Delete
    3. I think the hits in the TC were few and far between and resulted from opponents not dumping and chasing and BBQ playing really smart along the boards and in front of TFS™. Different story at the other end of the ice, although it would be fun to see if (Y) had a few good hits in that cash-grab tourney.

      Delete
    4. What I mean is when the Ducks come in the Habs end, hit them but make it legal.

      Delete
  33. About to tune in for the 3rd. SOG make it look like a Hab dominated game. Hits make it look like the Ducks are taking it to them physically. Good thing AF has his system in place.

  34. Of course, MitCH in the box but no Duck.

  35. When my Dad passed away I asked my Mom if I could have his suits, ties and jackets. He left me a nice two-tone grey with Burgundy checkerboard. mt2's suit reminded me of that. My Dad, a labourer with 6 kids, had some serious fucking style. Sharply dressed with his ever-present scent of Old Spice. I have his last remaining bottle and splash a bit on when my Mom is in town. She knows.

  36. I missed some of the first period but to me the Habs have taken the play. A bit sloppy though.

  46. Considering the missing players, that was a solid team game.

Goal differential takes a bump, up.

  47. That's it for me, maybe I'll go catch the 3rd of the Senaturds vs Hawks.

  48. Until our Habs drop below .500 (I don't see it happening) and yes there's some major upside to having CK on the benCH, I think we need to give the coaCH some props. I am watching his presser. It is good. He stands behind his players. His answers are very good, even philosophical. A lot of us suggested that it would take losing to lose him. I prefer winning. The boys have fucked up a few times. The system is sometimes not as flashy as we'd like. 21/7/4. Nothing to sneeze at.

I get what your saying. I think I mentioned at the start of this thread his goalie makes him look really good. Last year proved that, although GMGQ gave him nothing to work with when Price went down. MB actually deserves more blame than the coach for not trying to preserve a big start to the season. Whatever, lets look forward. I prefer to ignore therrien and will continue to do so.

When I look at this team on paper, I wonder how they are winning as much as they are. I don't see one true 1st line player. Not one. A half decent defence and a superstar goalie, that's it. Been like this for decades.

    2. With all due respect moe, not quite sure throwing PatCHes under the bus about getting pucks full well KNOWING he had a foot injury (and everything he's done publicly to slag PK), leaving Inigo out for 10 goals exactly standing behind his players. Personally, I can't even stand to look at him.

  51. Article over at Rogers SFU (SN) about Jagr wanting to play until he's 50. I think it's GMMB's biggest mistake to date not signing him when he expressed interest in playing with the Habs. That said, he's turning 45 in a couple of months...is there any benefit in picking a guy of his age up for the playoffs? I recall he wasn't too effective last year when the Cats were bounced in the first round. There's a part of me still wants to see him in the CH, but then there's the other side that has seen all the aging players switching to their 'favourite' team near the ends of their career only to be a giant bust. Still, in the end i'd take him if the price was a 5th round pick or Desharnais.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Not sure what made me think of this, but 2 incidents (aside from the obvious like Saku's return )that stand out in recent (like last 15 years or so) as a Habs fans came from guys who didn't spend more than a season or 2 with us.
    1. Gilmour slamming the penalty box door and shattering the glass. Classic. And because he was wearing bleu, blanc et rouge instead of blue and white, he got an extra penalty for it.
    2. Eric Cole high fiving the ref after he scored a goal. That will go down as one of my all-time favourite moments in Habs history. What was so great was how all the SFU were up in arms about the Habs being favoured by the refs (which they continue to spew regardless of what facts actually show us).

Anyway, Happy BDay to TheM and Winter Solstice to all.

  53. Not ready to say the glass is half eMTy, but this team is better on ice than paper. We finally luck out with leko and LB. Asoulutely stole BBQ, I would not be surprised to see PFK left unprotected. He is a great player but not at $9million. If N8 and dish can be consistant, plan the parade.
    Happy Birthday Maritimer.

    1. 'Stole" BBQ? His cap is only about $1M less than PFK's. As for the $9M, that is all on DGMB who gave him a bridge contract when he could have paid him less because all PFK wanted was term (If I remember correctly, he was looking for something like $5M or maybe $6M). So he ends that bridge with a Norris and a Gold (whether he played very little or not, that is another story) on his resume when they took him to arbitration. If you compare to Phaneuf earning $7M without any of those on his resume at that time, the market dictated PFK would certainly earn more. What PFK is getting paid is all on the GM who mishandled the contract in the first place. PFK was always a big asset during playoffs, esp vs broons, and is 4 years younger and his contract ends 3 or 4 yrs before BBQ's.

      Delete
    2. A broons vs.Preds Final would be a classic ugly yellow jersey confrontation. Luckily it'll never happen.

    3. They sure aren't pretty.

    4. so far on the ice BBQ is clearly better. Off the ice harder to measure but what BBQ has done to (Y) is priceless. As far as the cap goes he is cheaper, and disposable. When its time for him to hang them up Nashville eats the cap. However look at Vodkov, BBQ will be just as useful at 38. Its still time will tell, I think PFK still has a upside.

PFK was a Bruin-killer for sure. We'll always love him for that. Hopefully BBQ will get his chance to crush them as well.

I miss (Y) driving Lucy nuts.

  58. I 'half' read the article on TSN by the CP about the greatness of Auston Matthews after the leaf loss to the Ducks the other night. Regardless of the shite of the entirety of the article, I wanted to point out this statement, "Babcock said he expected Matthews to become a "dominant" centre by Christmas. I just wanted to point out that I'd love to be a fly on the Matthews' wall on Christmas morning when Auston opens his gift from Coach Blabcock and hauls out a ball gag and set of fur handcuffs.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I listen to TSN 690 all the time. What I love is there are very few blow jobs, in fact lots of cheap shots. Contrast that with Sportsnet were the hosts all trained under Linda Lovlace and anything leaf is tremendous. As if there were not one of the worst teams in the leauge. The differance between Edm and TO, Edm looks like a playoff condtender, so shut the fuck up TO.
