It's rather ironic that a team almost devoid of skill (except maybe gCHuk amd CHe) traded away one of the most skilled players I've seen on this team in 20 years or more. I don't care if he was a distraction, this trade is going to come back to haunt them for years. If he (you know who) had to be dealt away, they should have gotten back the elite center they've needed for decades instead of an aging hardrock D who's biggest skill is a booming shot from the point. We've seen that movie before with the aforementioned You Know Who and big #44. It becomes too easy to defend and a lot of the times they just miss from 60 feet away.

Interesting read over at the snet cesspool that the Habs had a 50/50 shot at Matthews with the lucky leaf winning the prize. Matthews would really have changed the dynamic of this sad sack outfit in Montreal. I usually watch a Habs/leaf clash but I'm ambivalent about it now. Maybe I'll watch just to listen to mclame and the rest of the leaf fanboy hacks and their usual bullshit. And of course moe ripping them a new hole.

Even while the team's disastrous last season, (you know who) was the top point getter up till he got 'assed' by (Y) and missed the last 14 games of the season. He was the player who drove the offense. He's only 7pts behind his replacement in 17 less games.

  3. PFK is sadly gone...nothing we can do. Bergevin is done for. No one will trade him anything of value unless he throws in TFS
..which I wouldn't put past him...the cbc is streaming the game tonight so I am stuck with the leafluvfest...but I might just turn the volume off.

And it's more irony that after I typed that rant above I go over to HI/O and they are still talking about You Know Who. Look, I've moved on from that deal but it just seemed weird that a team that can't score in a brothel gets rid of one of the only guys who had a chance.

For the life of me I can't figure out why this particular bunch struggles so mightily to score a goal. Remember they went trough the exact same scenario this time last year, January and February were particularly horrid, then in late March when they knew it was over, they suddenly start scoring in droves. I remember watching the 1-0 loss to Edmonton, sitting in a bar with no sound on the TV, just watching them do absolutely nothing and thinking to myself, what a bunch of talentless hacks. I'm starting to think these guys are un-coachable. They can't score goals, they're soft as Charmin, they don't hit or like to be hit and they give up prime scoring chances like Easter eggs on Sunday morning. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Price refused to re-sign with them after next year. Why would he want to? He gets no or very little offensive support. If I was him, Dallas would be my choice. With Seguin and Benn in front of him, a Cup would be within reach and he wouldn't have to be Superman every night, just merely mortal.

Sorry for another long rant, I'm on a roll.

  7. So, before eI prep my SFU bullet points, a note.

This will be the first game I decide to watch on the snet. They are Habs haters and cater to the stupidest and most vile fanbase in pro sports so I expect nothing but putrid commentary and biased coverage coated in their leaf splooge. These fuckers have 50 years and many generations of losing bottled up. The SFU grew up on the disgusting shills at hnic and the new crop is even more pathetic. Its in their polluted gene pool.

Holy crap! As Yogi would say: "It's deja vu all over again."

This is ugly --- Since the Canadiens win over Toronto on January 9, the Canadiens are 7-12-2: a .381 points percentage. The only team in the league with a worse record over that stretch is Colorado at 3-15-2 – .200%.

Excellent recap, agree about Adam Oates, he'd be a great mentor to some fragile young players.

I wish the Habs could find some players like those three greats. Players and people of that ilk are desperately missed by a lost Habs organization. I fear its become all about the money.
