juce4:37 PMBREAKINGClaude Julien appointed head coach of the Montreal Canadiens.ReplyDeletelehab4:41 PMAs I told my friends...great firing, retarded hiring...fucking clodReplyDeletejuce4:47 PMBBB sure loves to make 'headlining' moves.ReplyDeletejuce4:50 PMThe fact that the Broons even allowed BBB to speak with him just shows what they (broons) think about Clod being a threat in their own division.ReplyDeleteK3X4:51 PMAs much as I am unsure about clod...at least AF is finally gone. Now let's see if it was the coaching or the players...ReplyDeleteRepliesjuce4:53 PMToo little too late, should have happened before he drove PFK out of town.Deletejuce4:53 PMNot saying I'm sold on Clod either.DeleteReplyjuce5:04 PMI would have preferred Carbo.
Just stop it. You got your wish so please do me a favor and shut up about coaching until the season is over. Enough already.
So because you disagree with someone who doesn't share your opinion you try to censor and tell everyone not to talk about the coach then go all out rude single me out and tell someone to shut up???? That's the second time now. And I am not the only one who spoke about the coach but you I'm the one you tell to board a bus? Wow.
I'd have preferred a broken-french speaking Muller
True.Late to this news. Are CK, JJD and others still on board?
I would have like Muller too, but it's that media thing again, Clod speaks French. No news on coaches yet.
Bring back Doug Jarvis!
Two things;1. I didn't think DGMB would do it2. Thanks MichelAlso, do the Habs have to give da broons a draw pick/compensation?
Wonder if it's a coincidence that AF's gone shortly after DGMB met with with TFS, PatCHes and BBQ.
Likely had an impact or DGMB was, also, worried about his own job.Regardless, the CH has groomed many a fresh Francophone coach and one came back, again.Julien has garnered years of experience and respect away from Montreal. He's had his moments during rivalry games vs. the Habs. I've never accepted his use of goons in the last few minutes. Hopefully those days are behind his motives as a coach AND methinks players of SSR's ilk will need to reel it in and play tough whilst respecting the opponent.
Time for a fresh nickname for Coach Clod.CJ is too easy and CK is too close.Sharpen your web pencils FHFers.
I never talk about the coach so it doesn't matter to me.
U R da best Kate. ♥
Easy to remember and spell...clod
Takes the FHFun out of it. Got to make FHFers work for it.CJv2Cquel (play on sequel)
I like Cquel. My first thought was TFSS (The Franchise Saviour Saviour) since TFS needs a lift first and foremost.
Left-over CHinese food.
What'd I miss?
Egg rolls, garlic spare ribs, almond guy ding, bacon fried rice.
Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin acted quickly, requesting permission to speak to Julien on Feb. 12, according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.Wasn't the meeting with the leaders around the 8th or 9th in Arizona?
Serge Ibaka for Ternece Ross! Huge news in Canada's sports scene.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=terneceI wish I was creative enough to make this shit up.
Maybe the Preds will hire Therrien.
They're not that dumb.
I'd love to see that happen
Let us all wait and see what happens...AF wasn't on the ice so that has to improve dramatically as well. Let's all wait and see what happens...
I hope theM. is OK and didn't fall into all that snow!
CJv2's first game in his return will be his 1000th NHL game coached.
We need cat fight pictures on this blog :)
Heh and Meeeow! ...but...Yours truly isn't into FHFighting/FHFights.The beauty of this place is we all have strong FHFeelings about our Habs, crazy how we love this team. One love, lets get together and FHFeel alright.
On a thread about the coach, someone thinks the comments section should be empty.
Nice retard, I mean retread, so lets call him Yoko after the tire company and in a way he is our Yoko Ono.
So insidredger is asking if this was the right move. What a fucking leafloving POS.
Bob Mckenzie:In addition to MTL requesting permission from BOS to talk to Julien, MTL had also asked FLA for permission to talk to Gerard Gallant.
According to DLC, Gallant was at the Bell Centre.https://twitter.com/DLCoulisses/status/831676814594568193
Assistant material if CJ wants to turf JJ?
Not really surprised by all this. But, I'm not impressed, hiring Julien represents one dimensional thinking. In other words don't go outside the box. Julien won't win a Cup with this bunch, the talent level just isn't there yet. With all respect to our FHFriend Moey, you said you didn't care about the coach. They (the Habs) were dying on the vine. This had to be done. Bergevin knew it as well, probably after his meeting with the big 3 in Arizona. His butt was on the line as well if they went over the cliff like last year.I think Bergevin will definitely make a move or two before or at the deadline.Oh, I think Davey has played his last game as a Hab as well. All respect to Davey for what he accomplished but he was out of his league. Literally. I hope he goes on to have a great career overseas.
Yoko first rule, dont touch the piano and no kids in the dressing room, DDD this means you.
The M,💯 % right. I don't care about the coach, I only care about winning. And if that stops by all means do whatever they have to do to fix it. I have no personal feelings towards any coaches or GM's. just bring me wins. In saying that , Julian is the best choice as far as bilingual coaches go, that is a fact not an opinion.Gallant has proved nothing at the NHL level and nor has Muller.Carbo's days were numbered when the team went into a death spiral which people seem to forget. He also has proved nothing. There are no likes nor dislikes in this business, only results matter. I will pick and chose what I read on here from now on so I won't be naughty and lose my cool.Over and out.
I take it you likely didn't fair too well on employee conflict resolution on your annual performance reviews with your employer since you can't pick and choose who you work with and probably told your boss to shut up. Maybe If you can catch an Azur quick enough you can catch AF cleaning out his office.
Interesting. Was shovelling all day so didn't see this. Oh, also started watching a good British drama called Spotless on Netflix. About a crime scene cleaner that catches the eye of the mob. I think it's a keeper if you're into that type of show.Well we got our wish. I think it was my last post I said if Therien is fired and this team continues to suck, then we face the fact this just isn't a good team. Time will tell. Be interesting to see what ol' Retread2 will do with the lines. But - this should be Mullers team. Safe to say he'll never be a head coach in Montreal.
maybe R2C2 as a nick
I would have gone with Gallant, sent Cpt Kirk to the rock. This system has fucked up our DNA we need stem cell therapy, some Flying Frenchman genes. You fail to gain a controlled entry so what, you lose the puck, but the times you dont you have a scoring chance. Thats the way to play, dump as a last resort not the first choice.
Agreed. Gallant would have been the optimum choice. Unless the Habs win the cup. Then Bergevin is clearly a genius and we know nothing and will stop the hand wringing about what the coach does or does not do.
First we got rid of the Mexicant, then we got CHe, now we get rid of eMTy its a process. This makes me think someday they will make pot legal.
I just dont understand how you can fire a coach when your leading your divison madness:)
No comment from PFKhttp://giphy.com/gifs/pk-subban-d78KnIjvUUc0M
Why cant the press just think before they start conspiracy theories. TFS did not get eMTy fired. The stare was not Zapurter like. Leave TFS alone until he signs a lifetime contract.
Francophone media friends last night were absolutely livid, believe TFS's comment about losing their identity was calculated and how dare he say that publicly, it should be kept in the room. Really? Pot meet kettle, slagging PK at every opportunity to beat AF's drum and that he was a problem in the room.
Ironic that AF's last game was being shut out 4-0 to the broons. Alanis Morrisette's 'Isn't It Ironic' stuck in my head. I'll bet deep down now, AF really wishes he had a sure broon killer on the ice, maybe this guy."It's going to be great," he said. "I can't wait for the crowd, the noise, the energy in the building."I can't wait to take that all away from them." who did just that.
I'll put money on Alain Vigneault being the next Habs coach. It's like musical chairs, round and round and round we go.... Sing it Neil!!!
Prerequisite is priority one, very shallow talent pool to draw from.
All in all, a wonderful move for those like me who saw little to like in eMTy, and hell, if you can't keep a straight shooter and team guy like Price on your side, what does that say about your character? Arrogance. Let's hope this is the key change the guys needed. They are all healthy, and they will be rested.
Well there is a God.Bye Bye Empty.Bye Bye Wee Davey ( hope ).Hello Chuckie !Wanna play first line centre? Now.I think Captain Kirk is safe, but what about JJ?I think we need a D coach that BBQ can respect and look up to and that would be few and far between. However! The sun is shining on Hab Land.Go Habs
Surely Coach CJv2 can pick his own assistants (other than Muller). Kirk is a associate which has a higher standing I think. I don't think a new D coach is out of the question. JJD never impressed me.
He's got really shitty hair but imagine if Ray Bourque needed a gig.My first CHoice has always been Larry Robinson, even wanted him instead of MT2 as Head Coach.Jarvis or Carbo for face-off + PK.
R.I.P. Stuart McLean (of the Vinyl Cafe).
The Christmas turkey story is my favourite. Hell of a storyteller. RIP.
OH MY GOD!! HILARIOUS!!!!!!
OK, the M's response sold me on checking out that link. And I concur. LOL! How the hell do people come up with this stuff?!
juice: take it easy bro. moey didnt mean to rip into you. everybody here (except) steve wanted eMTy's head. stevo... i agree with you though... it goes against all logic to fire a coach in first place. however... i think we all agree this was starting to become a paper tiger sitting in first instead of a hungry one to be feared. juice: i totally agree with you, the team shoulda apologised and let carbo finish what he started.on another note... i have to pat myself on the back since you guys are collectively banishing my bro DDDoleg9:38 PM (during TFS's stinker in bawston)arrrrgh! if they fire eMTy now, the rumours are that they and the broons will just swap wives... i mean coach. 'cough'...
With all due respect, I don't appreciate being singled out and told to board a bus to Nashville on one occasion and then told to just shut up on another when many here - if not all, at least one time or another - have shared a negative opinion of AF and there was also another time she singled me out that I remember and a few others I ignored. One may not agree with everyone's opinion here, I myself have not also and I may have voiced my opinion on a subject or debated but I never spoke to anyone like that and tried to censure their voice simply because I didn't agree. We are all individuals with differing opinions but that doesn't give one who disagrees the audacity to speak to someone in that manner. I am not the most eloquent - much less so than moey - and rough around the edges at times when trying to make a point but I can't remember talking to anyone here the way she did with me. It was uncalled for, intentional and extremely rude. So yes, I absolutely believe she did mean to rip into me and maybe she is trying to cause tension and have me ejected, kinda like AF eh.
I've never ejected anyone. I may have removed various comments. 'bout it.
I know, moe. :o)
never underestimate grains of salt:) as far as I know the only one with an absoulte perfect track record of commentary here is me. BWG oleg, case in point, I am the only one who loved eMTy right to the end:)
Highest paid head coaches reported value.Bab$ $6.25/seasonQueneville $5.8MJulien $5MVigneault $4.1Sutter $3.5
I was going to post this, you beat me to it. Jack Todd's head will explode!
As much as I would like to ignore what the coach of the team does like Moey, I just can't. They have too much influence on what happens on the ice by player deployment decisions or what "system" they want to use and there are several. I believe this was MT's biggest failure, his player usage was horrible in certain situations and Brian Wilde listed a litany of other mistakes. Despite the fast starts of the last two seasons, for me the Habs had become virtually unwatchable. Hopefully, CJ will be able to figure out what he has relatively quickly and design a "system" around his personnel, not the other way around like MT. My God, I remember during one of those 24CH episodes I saw a bit of, with Therrien telling his players in a meeting: "We're a GRINDING team!" This was when they still had Gomez, Squid and Gionta. Are you fucking kidding me? The Habs were being ground... like coffee beans!Anyway, that bullshit is finally over and I am actually looking forward to watching my team again and seeing how they play under CJ. I'm willing to cut him some slack for the rest of the season no matter how long and I'm not expecting miracles. I'm also looking forward to a DD-less team, no more scraping the ice every 5 minutes with the littlest zamboni. Oh, I also hope Carey comes out of his coma once again be the best goalie in the league. Finally, I can say with some enthusiasm: GO YOU FUCKING HABS GO!!
Juce,I owe you an apology, yes I was rude and I shouldn't have gone off on you. It won't happen again. So it's a new coach and a fresh start for the team so let's call a truce if that's okay with you.My conspiracy theory is that ultimately Price got MT fired. Ever since his Vulcan death stare to Therrien on the bench in December his play has been awful. He's really the only one with enough clout to pull it off. I'm sure he would never admit it but that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
Thanks, moey being your FHFriend again is a good thing in my books and I often enjoyed your input.AS for TFS, while I don't believe those who he say he played the way he did merely to get the coach fired, a guy has his pride afterall plus I don't think he would ever stoop to that level. I absolutely do believe that if AF told him to just go be happy stopping pucks, then he literally bit the hand that fed him. His post game comment about losing their identity and others before that seemed telling. As you said, Melnick stated that all he had to do was tell the GM him or me and right after, or very shorlty after, that meeting in ARI MB got to work. Just too much of a coincidence to me. So yes, Price had all the clout in the world and may have used it. Long live cowboys.
I don't like to think he purposely did it either but there was some kind of issue between them. Price is always bland in an interview but he's been worse than usual. He just sounded completely fed up. When Stephane Waite was ssked about his loser play he said Carey and I know what it is. Kind of a strange answer. it's been a while since we've had a Stanley Cup winning coach so I'm happy about that.
I'm very happy to see you two resolve your differences.I think every Habs fan has been frustrated during this latest collapse. I also think a lot of this mess could have been avoided if Bergevin had dismissed Therrien last spring instead of doubling down on his coach and friend. I'll bet the players had started tuning him out late last year. Blaming Price's knee was the easy way out and poor Mike Condon took most of the blame, but he's doing OK in Ottawa so it wasn't all on him either.I agree with Moey that Price had had enough of Therrien and told Bergevin so. Like I said above, maybe he comes out of his coma now and leads his team like he's capable of. Go Carey Go!And as far as PK is concerned, he shot himself in the foot too many times and MB decided to make that move. Myself, I would have kept him and got stronger up front (down the middle) but that's just me.
I guess this means TFS will face less shots?https://sports.vice.com/ca/article/what-claude-juliens-teams-do-well-and-the-biggest-challenge-he-faces-in-montreal
Agreed the M about PK, it was just as much if not more Bergevin's decision to move him. And let's not forget, PK had issues with Jacques Martin and company. He had him sit in the press box for a few games. That was long before Therrien was on the scene. Babcock didn't want him on Team Canada, they can't all be wrong, it's obvious that PK plays the way HE wants too. That's where the problem lies but obviously Nashville must be okay with that.
Classy comments by MT2;In a statement released Thursday, Therrien said he understood why general manager Marc Bergevin made the decision to let him go and bring in Claude Julien."When a team is experiencing difficulties, any head coach knows his job is on the line," Therrien said. "I understand and accept this reality."After starting the season 13-1-1, Montreal had hit a tough patch, going 2-6-1 over its last nine games.Therrien, who struck a gracious tone in the statement, wished his successor the best."I leave with my head held high: I am very proud of the work accomplished over the past five years," he said. "The current team can aspire to great honours, and I wish my colleague Claude Julien every success in the future."
Do coaches normally also thank the media? Not dissing but just asking.
When they're hoping to get their old job back with the media, yes.
RDS will have him back tomorrow, maybe tva shows him some big money?
Maybe his friends at RDS wrote the speach?
Wow...its all been happening here...gkad everyone is back being friends. My biggest issue with AF was that he killed talented players by forcing them to do what probably doesn't come naturally at the expense of what did come naturally... and with younger guys that can be real confidence killer. Chuckie was still only getting 12-13 min a game. Why? They bring. A big man like McM up then play him 8 mind . . . why? Who would want to come play here except grinders and short asses! Let's hope that changes and that they start using the players they have better. They need to score goals so gaining the blue line then going for the corner of the rink should stop. Hopefully Clod gets them to start hitting the net more too! Go you fucking Habs go!
I think we all FHFelt frustrated, some more than others, at MT2's lack of playing the kids properly/enough/at the appropriate position, a dumping and chasing system, line blending Ad nauseam, not challenging fuckface bettman's refs enough and over-DDDosing.Clod may not be everyone's cup o' tea either but he is a breath of fresh air, hopefully timely.GYFHG!
OK, virtual hugs all around. Excellent. A little longer.......aaaaaaaaand there we go. That felt nice. While I think CJ2 is a better coach, I worry about the merry go round effect. We had MT. We fired MT. We had CJ. We fired CJ. Shit happened. We hired MT2. We fired MT2. We hired CJ2.When your tires are wearing out and cash flow is low, buying retreads is a good short term option. MB rode those first reteaded radials down to the steel belts. Thought for a good Price, he could put a few Patches on them and ride them successfully to the finish line, but even new and improved Patches and a few Russian studs weren't enough to keep 'er on the road, so he made a pit stop before the tires blew. But now I'm worried. Sure he bought a more expensive tire. Might be the Pirelli Ice Zeros even. But it's another set of retreads AND he paid a hell of a price for them. And you'll notice they're already bald.Only time will tell if they can handle in the corners and keep on trucking into June.
Heh, great analogy St. Pad.Those new treads will hopefully prevent a continued bad skid. Maybe running too much on that small run-flat tire at reduced speeDDD?
Heh heh, excellent analogy.I call it musical chairs.Over at HI/O I watched the latest video with Knuckles, BGL and Hickey (somebody please buy him a comb) stating that CJ2 is a top 5 coach in the NHL. Maybe so but didn't he just get his ass fired less than two weeks ago?I'm not sold on CJ2, but MB figured he had to move quick to get the only bilingual coach on the market. Like I said, I'm willing to give him a chance but I would have let Muller take them the rest of the way. He had enough street cred that the Separatists wouldn't have freaked out. We'll see.
I think R2, which is a good nick on many levels. He is the second retreat to coach this team, and he is a little android that flew on the back of Speedbass for ten years. There is a CHance he has some flying Frenchman force in his DNA. Maybe he will bring back Princess Sara.Speaking of which we now can add to the betty wilma discussion. Euginne or Anna Kurcurvicona.I am going to be slaughtered for this but I am ANNA.
Think he'll park BBQ in front of the net for PP's?
Would be fun to see him make that diving motion vs the broons.
juce your so provocative. But its a great point.
Hugs allround and if we have strong feelings that are diametricly opposed to the feeling of others and we make some snark thats FHF friendship. Personally I think everyone knew for at least three years eMTy was TFS's bitch. In the words of the immortal Mike Milbury who only exceed McSpooge in wisdom. "There are no good coaches only good goalies." There are no good goverments just lots of indviduals greed that metamorphies into utopia. One thing we know now is that experts no nothing John Snow. The best policy decisons should be made my a kindergarten class in a refurendum. Should we have chocalte highways, yes of course so lets have Gay Marriage. Are golden showers rewarding, Yes so lets make peace with Russia. If you have a 220 lb six foot universal soldier, or a guy who could sit in your class and make you wonder if he failed pre kindergarten who do you use as your first line center?
I like where this is going...Something had to give. Would TFS sink so low as to play bad on purpose to have a coaching change? We will never know but in my books, if he's capable of doing that...Well, there's no I in Team.
I am not an elite athelte living on the razers edge, I am more a bic dual blade kind. However, I have to go with TFS is one of the most elite atheltes in the world. If he watches a bad movie its going to affect his game. If he is comming to work everyday and seeing someasshole claim credit for all his hard work, he might subconciously tank. Humans are animals and we make non thinking decision every second. Thats why they had to cut the hands off that guy of Sons of Anarchy, do you really think he wanted to masturbate all the time?
that was definetly a challange to the mastaboury mitts
We will never know for sure but it is delicious in it's own way.
Ooh too juicy to think TFS™ is that good an actor. A LOT of the shitty goals were major D breakdowns. I do believe that he had enough of MT2 though. Kinda like Sid did in PIT...
I get what you're saying Steve. But at the same time, behaving this way because he wanted MT2's head, he (would have) purposely hurt the other 22 team mates? Some of which do not have a comparable livelihood and leverage as TFS, some fighting for jobs and need wins and production to prove their worth to get a contract. Anyway, all this is speculation of course and as Moey said, it's the beauty of it! I'm glad we're moving on.
TFS just needed some time fishinghttps://25stanley.com/bons-moments-pourvoirie-carey-price/
He looks happy, haven't seen that smile in a while.
Big George Laraque who was in Pitt at the time said Therrien brought Fleury to tears berating him in the dressing room. Sid said fuck this shit and went to the GM (Rey Shero) and eMTy was gone. I always maintained he was a bully and a leopard never changes it's spots. I say good riddance and don't feel one iota of sympathy for him. He's going to be paid $2mil a year until 2019. He's got no worries. I highly doubt he's ever a head coach again in the NHL unless the WhalerCanes move to QC, Peladeau will be all over him.
Wow.I think the snake-tongued 'bergie' has the lead on any new QC team coaching job.
PKP has returned to Videotron, he's a shoe-in for sure.
As mentioned, he really ripped Shaw in the dressing room and his teammates were none too pleased about it.
I'v no worries, he could always go back to TV and denegrate up and comers, hes beating-drum buddies would welcome him with open arms.
Sid got his 1,000th pt. Congratulations!
Well Carey sounds much happier.
