OK, I am going to watch this game, at least in regulation. I am NOT watching any OT, my nerves just can't take it anymore. Sorry for being so weak. And no, even alcohol doesn't help, it just makes me sleepy.

How was the Easter brunch moe? Wish I could have been there.

  7. Back to the drawing board, Buutface, Montreal played the first NHL game.

"Now, he said, Montreal can claim the first-game honour and "Ritchie's goal can safely be considered to have been scored at least 25 minutes earlier than Malone's."

Among the other scorers in Montreal was Wanderers forward Harry Hyland, who notched three first-period goals against Toronto that night — now confirmed as the NHL's first hat trick — and went on to score five goals by the end of the game.

The NHL's opening-night game in Montreal offered two other nuggets for fans of hockey history. The Wanderers goalie — now confirmed as the first netminder in NHL history to earn a win — was Bert Lindsay. He was the father of future NHL legend Ted Lindsay, whose name adorns the trophy given annually to the league's most outstanding player, as chosen by his peers."

He tells me that "your Jesus Christ was the original zombie, no?' on a regular basis.I haven't been to church for 30 years or so other than funerals or weddings...And he has a point. So, respectfully, happy zombie Jesus day. May gCHuk resurrect his centre roll, Patches his scoring touch, and the power play unit...ability.

Strawberries ended up being a topping for some. And of course the maple syrup. Baked ham, egg and broccoli souffle, hashbrown and cheese casserole, bacon and sausages.

Now I've got Prime Rib in the oven for my 2 boys that are here and stuffed baked potatoes.

So, without listening to any commentary by two brain-dead leafools here is what I observed: Montreal has had the slightly better of the play and they are playing very well defensively. King Lunkhead has held the Rags in it really. A beauty goal by the young Finn, this guy is getting better all the time.

I'm really relaxed watching this game without the screeching hyper-frantic play calling by Habs-hater romansuck. It's great!

Now, I did put mclame and his panel of leafools on, I was impressed with Leko's interview, his English was impeccable, no trace of an accent whatsoever. Remember Esa Tikkanen, that guy was hilarious speaking some kind of English with the heaviest Finnish accent I ever heard.

  121. I wonder if it's possible to work for that SFU outfit and remain unbiased or are you contractually obligated to blow leafs and hate the Habs? Reason I ask is I remember a fresh young unbiased Friedman...Lasted maybe a season. When Romansuk returned from his European exile he was very good at calling unbiased games. I think that lasted half a season or so. I seriously wonder if they're ordered to change or if they just get assimilated. Perhaps resistance IS futile.

    1. the Maritimer10:09 PM

It seems odd that the SFU broadcasters, all three of them, can't find one lousy unbiased person to call a Habs game or do analysis. Since all three are based out of toronto, maybe Quebecois are banned from working there. I think even Maritimer Ken Reid is a leafool. I guess it is a requirement on the CV, no ex-Habs or Habs fans allowed.

Thank God I didn't have to watch OT, my nerves couldn't take it. That being said, I never felt at any time the Habs were in trouble during this game. CJv2 out-chokulaed AV tonight, his little personnel moves worked out well. gCHuk still stickhandling in the wrong places at times but overall played well. He made a beauty move to set up Weber's goal. The boys seem to like playing at MSG, maybe they should play the rest the series there.

    1. Excellent conjecture. So this would require the Habs and Broons advancing, the Laughs advancing to the conference final, and the Hawks to pull it together pronto and hit the final. Doubtful but nifty bit of improbability that only the Infinite Improbability Drive could ever hope to outdo.

...It’s as though New York forced the entire U.S.A. to listen to endless blather about the awful New York Knicks."
