  2. At least we still have Sexy Friday! Thanks moeman!

I made a deal with the devil today. Our office lotto pool administrator advised that he picked one set of numbers based on my boss' advice...using numbers of former Bruins players. I said if we win the big one with the broon numbers, I would buy a broon jersey and wear it to work during every game they play against the Habs next season. I was quickly called out by said Bruin fan, asking whether I would be at work if we won big. Clever for a Bruin fan.

  5. I will weigh in on the PFK. He was useless to us. He was putting himself on a very high pedestal, maybe deserved maybe not. Fact is that he is not the number one D man, and he is now playing the game even eMTy wanted. Like Kessel he is now on a team where he does not have to be the guy, and he has CHanged his game due to the tramu.

    1. Google trnaslated, but read the article.

So we do not have the impression, looking at the distribution of tasks in the first match, that the Blues consider Subban a second pair defender, quite the contrary. This tactical choice reflects the one we saw in the first round, while Joel Quenneville sought to oppose Patrick Kane to Roman Josi and Jonathan Toews to Subban. It begins to make quite a lot of people ...

I don't want to start off with a negative so first I'll say thanks to moeman for some nice SF images. Always, always appreciate his work.

Second, the Habs have signed some junior free agent kid who can score goals apparently. Plan the parade Marc, you are on the ball.

Third, I'll disagree with Steve re: PFK. Shea Weber is a damn good defenceman but the Habs will regret this trade just like the Chelios, Desjardins and McDonough trades.

BTW, I am suspicious of Bergevin saying he will not trade Price. He's fully capable of it.

    1. Subban is a delight to watch on the ice and charismatic off it. He’s exactly what hockey needs more of, but the hockey establishment, comprised of old, white dudes, won’t rest until they’ve snuffed out every bit of individuality left in the league.

    2. It's these attitudes, which were deeply ingrained within the Canadiens organization, the exact reason why he is no longer here.

    3. If that's the way the league wants to keep on going, so be it. But maybe they should ask the fans that fill the arena at 501 Broadway, the ones that sold out every game for the first time this year, if P.K. Subban helps or hurts their decision to come to a game.

    1. Read where DGMB might need a true hockey President above him.

Can't see him trading TFS™ and/or gCHuk combined but I think he, DGMB, only has a year left unless the Habs make the ECF.

Got the game in the background, NYR has started to hit like they did vs. the Habs as of game 2. snet is homering the turds big time.

The DD can have somebody above him but he will still make the deals, unless the new prez vetoes it I guess.

Montreal will never win with this so-called "core", they aren't good enough. All they are doing is spinning their wheels.

The only hockey I'm watching now are the Sea Dogs but I see on tsn's website the Turds have managed to put 5 past King Lunkhead, imagine that! Actual goals! I'm astonished! I guess he figured once he eliminated the Habs his work was done.

      Delete
    4. the Maritimer6:14 PM

I should clarify my "core" comment... I'm guessing that's why the DD will trade some of his "core" to shake things up. They desperately need scoring so an elite goalie does nothing for them. They can lose in the first round with Lindgren or maybe Fleury. I don't think this team will be intact come September. Maybe not even July.

I am watching the final season of Falling Skies. It started out really well, the first two seasons were outstanding I thought but it kinda went off the rails in season 4. Still, I have to see how it ends. Next is either The Expanse or The 100. Recommendations?

      Delete
    2. I liked Falling Skies, and agree it went off the rails. The Expanse is a great playoff player and The 100 a series that gets you to the playoffs. If you have not watched Into the Badlands as a Martial arts guy it cant be missed.

Looks like PFK is making a MVP run.

      Delete
    3. I don't recall if I finished Falling Skies. Same, I liked the first couple of seasons for sure. I have to just start watching an entire series at a time, because I can't remember what happened in a previous season of a series when it's time to watch the next if I need to wait a year or so.

First season of the Expanse was great. I'll watch the 2nd soon.
Into the Badlands. I really enjoy it - you need to take the special effects/fighting with a grain of salt, they're a bit of an Ang Lee style. You need to be able to suspend reality, especially as a martial arts guy. But it's an incredible storyline in which there are no guns in the not so distant (I think) future.

And the new Star Trek series keeps getting pushed back, dammit. Might be another year before we see Sasha. My wife isn't a trekkie, but she is a big Jason Isaacs fan, so she might even tune into this one.

I saw Season 1 of Into the Badlands, I liked it fine and am recording Season 2. Also recording Better Call Saul. Only one episode of Billions left, it is a great show, love it.

PFK is going to make Marc Bergevin look like a fool. But that's not hard.

I know I've been dumping on MB a lot lately. I thought he might be able to return the Habs to some semblance of respectability and in a way maybe he has but it seems they have been spinning their wheels for 5 years. Maybe a 5 year plan takes 10 years to execute. We'll see if Molson let's MB finish the job. I doubt it.

    5. BCS S3 is great so far, so is Fargo S3.

      Delete
    6. DGMB's 5 year plan must have been creating the new CHL - Character hockey league. I read the CHL thing somewhere Wilde liked to say the Habs were not an ice-bag team and that changed after the new 'big guys' were acquired. Where'd that get them? Now they have no speed, no offence and no scoring and a less mobile, aging D. TFS is still 'the plan'. Damn right he'll write his own cheque and DGMB must be saying his prayers each and every night that he'll take a discount.

  28. Interestingly, I read on the weekend that a 33 year old David Poile (yes the same one that traded for PK) was also responsible for stealing away Rod Langway for the Capitals in 1982. Ironically, he stole Langway, along with Jarvis and Engblom (and another name i forget) for Ryan Walter and Rick Green, away from noted crook Irving Grundman. Difference being that Langway wanted out, which I wasn't aware of at the time as a 13 year old and big fan of his. Needless to say, after passing on Denis Savard and then making that trade, Grundman didn't last long. Pierre Lacroix and David Poile - kryptonite to Habs GMs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. And nothing against Ryan Walter and Rick Green. They were an instrumental part of that mid-80's team, just not real sexy like a 2-time to be Norris Trophy winner that they were traded for.

      Delete
    2. the Maritimer2:08 PM

I had no problem with the Langway trade at the time, Ryan Walter was a 1st overall pick I believe and Rick Green was a high 1st rounder as well. As a matter of fact Walter was a #1 center for the Caps, so Grundman did what Bozo the GM is incapable of. The other player the Habs dealt was Craig Laughlin, a servicable winger who did OK. Those two helped the Habs to an unexpected Cup in '86 and played big roles too.
