Great SF one again moeman.
Merci Juce.A little bit of everything on this gorgeous Spring day.
Wow! Your artistry knows no bounds NOAR!
Good article on NHL, this would melt a heart of stone.'Subban was being driven around that day in a limousine, and says that at the end of the day the limo driver had something to tell him: a young member of the driver's family was in the hospital, and they were benefitting from P.K.'s Helping Hands, a program that helps families meet financial obligations while they have a child hospitalized to allow parents to be with their kids instead of having to go to work. The driver had one request for Subban. He wanted a hug. "You don't think I have tears in my eyes after that?" Subban said. "You don't think I go home and think about that at night? That's the special bond I have with that city." andThe perception remains that Subban became a distraction. Subban says that as soon as he was traded to the Predators he was assured this would not be an issue in Nashville. He said general manager David Poile invited him to bring all of his support people -- agents, managers, social media consultants, family -- to Nashville to meet with the Predators front office to see how they could work together. Subban says that never happened in Montreal. "It's a partnership between us," Subban said of Poile and himself. "From Day One he understood I have other interests aside from hockey. That doesn't affect how I prepare. Hockey is still my No. 1 priority. There's no doubt about that. But I do have other interests and opportunities outside of hockey." andHockey is thriving in "Smashville," the Predators are on their longest playoff run and Subban has completely bought in. A big reason is the way the Predators, particularly Poile and Laviolette, have accepted him for who he is. "This has been one of the best hockey experiences of my career," Subban said. "I wake up in the morning and go to the rink and tell myself I'm going to do everything I can to not let these people down, because they're such good people and good leaders."I will block a shot with my face for these guys."https://www.nhl.com/news/predators-pk-subban-continues-to-get-major-attention-in-montreal/c-289403202?tid=287339198
No secret who I'm rooting for tonight.
Pretty cool, 'Every letter is earned'https://twitter.com/NHL/status/863015928153350144
I will block a shot with my face for these guys" ...that is why PK Subban should never have been traded. There are no words to describe how much I now want the Preds to win the Cup so that PK can bring it back to his wing in the hospital to show the kids.
'You can never have enough Dmen' Unless his name is PK Subban of course. I wanted to smash something when he said not long after that he was looking for puck moving Dman.Heard about an article by a French journalist who said that anyone who replaced the Goat would have been as welcomed as BBB was and Molson put blind trust in him because he's not very savvy (and I will add BBB in turn dug that foxhole of his). We had such belief in him and boy did he make fools of us all.I'm with you K3X. Go Preds Go!!!
I'm rooting for the Ducks and the Pens. Nothing against Nashville or PK but if the Preds won the cup the PK contingent would be out in full force. As if he singlehandedly won the cup for Nashville which would be nonsense because there would have been a cup already in Montreal if that was the case. But still it won't stop the PK faithful and I really can't be arsed with that. So that's where I'm at. Actually I'm good with either the Ducks or Pens winning it all.
Haters gonna hate no matter what.
Wow! Just wow.
It's just my opinion, which is worth nothing, but the Montreal Canadiens have become or maybe always have been, a stodgy (is that even a word?), old, conservative organization that is still mired in the 50's and 60's in the belief of how you play and win at the game of hockey. Goalie and defence come first. Always. Marc Bergevin, Michel Therrien and now Claude Julien carry on this out-dated tradition. Flamboyance is forbidden. Hence, exit P.K. Subban.I will always be a Habs fan but it saddens me to see my team unable to compete in the modern NHL. They can work their way into the playoffs but hit a brick wall every time they get there. You go PK. Best of luck to you.
I'm certainly not waving Hab's pompoms these days. Far from it.
R.I.P. Stan Watson.Boy I remember my so many hours of fun my son had with his GI Joes. I came across them when he left home and for some reason I hung on to them and still have them.https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/11/business/stan-weston-dead-gi-joe-creator.html?_r=0
I believe there are a couple of those Barbie-sized given to him as gifts when they came out.
love my GI Joe, hate that it made a generation of children worship war
"The President’s Cup title is the third for the Sea Dogs (2011, 2012, 2017), making Saint John the most decorated Maritime team in the League surpassing Moncton (2006 and 2010). Since 2010, five Maritime teams have now won the President’s Cup.The Sea Dogs will now look to add a second Memorial Cup banner to the rafters at Harbour Station, joining the one won by Huberdeau’s Sea Dogs in 2011.Saint John is also gunning to become the first QMJHL representatives to win the Mastercard Memorial Cup since Halifax accomplished the feat in 2013.The action will get underway on May 19, at 7:00 p.m. at the WFCU Centre in Windsor live on TVA Sports and Sportsnet."
Hope they get it.
Great SF and it would be great is PFK won the cup. He was not doing it in Montreal and not to point fingers but when you are doing that 3 are pointing back at you. Of all the terrible personality trades Montreal has made over the decades, this one has the best result (so far)In other news the Quatries seem to have found a pipeline route to the Meddetraion
Up late watching the Preds/Ducks. Thought I'd take a look at the Habs site and noticed one of their video logs called 'the chat'. This one is with Vodkov and (Y). They pick questions from a hat to ask each other. Markov's question to (Y): "What do you see me doing when I retire from playing hockey?" "Maybe on the beach?", he says. "Oui" says (Y). They have a laugh then Markov says "or maybe I be GM of the Montreal Canadiens!" Done. Where does he sign. Clearly (Y) can act as his French translator.
I watched too, nice fake shot by PK, passes to Neal and SCORES! Haven't been watching much of the Ducks, they got some speedy players. Getzlaf is downright nasty.Happy Birthday PFK!!
I've been reading comments at HI/O and HEOTP, just to get other people's perspectives on the Habs these days. Often, comparisons are made between Bergevin and David Poile of Nashville, obviously because of the PK/Weber trade and many commenters, defending Bergevin, say Poile hasn't won anything in 33 years as a GM. Fair enough, but if you look at his body of work since he took over Nashville as an expansion team I see a pattern the last few years at least. Need a #1 center? Ryan Johansen, done. Need a scoring winger, Filip Forsberg, done. Need character and grit plus some secondary scoring, Mike Fisher and James Neal, done. Do you see what I do? No Dumpster Diving there whatsoever. Plus, he replaced his young, dynamic offensive minded defenceman (Seth Jones) with none other than PK Subban.Bergevin stated from the very beginning of his tenure, "You have to build through the Draft." I saw a chart the other day that shows the Habs only pick 5 times in 2017. How is that building through the draft? Conversely, when the wretched leaf decided to do the scorched earth method of rebuilding their team, they traded everything but the statues to their "legendary" players outside the ACC for picks, picks and more picks and let Mark Hunter go to work. Will all of these picks work out? Of course not. But his odds of finding something go way up.Bergevin obviously thought his time to win was now. He was wrong. If he tries the same thing next season he will still be wrong. After that, it's time for him to scram and the next guy can start moving bodies out and I don't care who. There are zero (0) untouchables on this roster. I'm more than ready for a major reno. I thought I was going to get it when The Goat got the boot. I'm still waiting 5 years later. Bring it on. To quote the late, great Rodney Dangerfield: "While were still young!"
Aw...the kids wishing PK a happy birthday.https://twitter.com/HopitalChildren/status/863365295540502528
Happy Mothers Day everyone. Booby Ryan proves he is a second season guy. We are two players away from being contenders, Lego and PFK.
Happy Moms Day.
Sci-Fi TV show alert. Falling Skies redeemed itself in Season 5, the Finale.
'Master of None S2' is as good as S1 and also introduces us to;Alessandra Mastronardi
seriously if you want to know why Italian is often outstanding, you have to go back to the Romans. Now my theory about Jesus is that it was a Roman Soldier who took atvantage, not a virgin birth. There have been many virgin births in history, Jesus was only the one most people remember.
Happy Mothers' day to all your Moms. Went to see Bon Cop, Bad Cop 2 yesterday with my daughter who went back home this morning. For some reason, I rarely go to the movies anymore but I wanted to really see this one and it was fantastic IMO, I highly recommend it. Plus there's a little something each and every one of us would appreciate in it, that's all I can say without spoiling it.
Feist, my fav kisses that taste like honey
Was at a neighbours last night. They are Sens fans. I had to eat multiple PFK and NYR sammiCHes. The spaghetti was really good. I had zero control of the remote so saw crotch in his leaf farm team jacket. Saw him again after the game. 5-1 Syracuse Crunch vs their team. mclame was sad. Weird, no other AHL team gets a mention, ever. Thanks Syracuse Crunch.
JT about Sid and fuckface bettman.http://montrealgazette.com/sports/jack-todd-why-doesnt-nhl-protect-games-greatest-ambassador
JT isn't for everyone. I know for a fact he doesn't care. I've been emailing him back&forth for a decade. His take on PFK ruffled a few. Its his opinion. He is paid to give it. Agree or disagree, he is usually always pretty balanced. He also doesn't directly attack people. Just puts it out there. He rips scum like Loria/Samson, mclame/crotch and of course leaf/SFU for their stupidity and bias. I do the same.About Sid. I love this player. Despite hnic bias, he grew up loving the CH. Toews the same in Manitoba. Go figure. I love his game. Talented at his position, great Captain. Picked a few notCHes above TFS™. Rarely if ever complains and when he does (like TFS™) his comments are pointed. The way the great Mario took him in and made him the face of the Pens has been great. Lots of class with Lemieux and his team (outside of the matt cooke fiasco). I'm surprised Mario hasn't 'garage-leagued' fuckface bettman for the treatment of Sid (and others). Disgusting fucks like collie and jacobs and burke and shanaplan and pronger have lead to this shit. It ain't going away. They just watered down the league for more slugs and goons to play. I'm disappointed that Geoff Molson will not CHallenge these fucks. The days of the Rocket putting it to the other Campbell (Clarence) and the shit reffing will never come back.Geoff, nice commercials. Now close the red fridge door and put your fucking beer profits to some good. CHallenge these fuckers. Offer sheet not one but three young players. Take the ($)hit and sCHedule a televised rant. Don't permit snet/tva access. Just fucking stream it. Facebook live or some shit. Tell the league and more importantly 'the fans' that enough is enough. Tell jacobs to shove it. Tell collie he should be fired. Tell pronger he is a fucking joke. Tell snet/tva to eat their lousy ratings and losses. Tell PFK he is an example on and off the ice and do the same for the Habs leaders. Tell Habs fans that we don't cheat to win. Tell QC fans that they should have a team, be it from ARZ or FLA or wherever. Tell those same teams no more revenue sharing. Tell those players affected by concussion issues that you've opened up a clinic for research at McGill with a $10M startup. Tell the other 30 owners to matCH it. Call it the Le Gros Bill Lab (of respect and honour).Oh yeah, get a #1 centre.
I'm still a little pissed at JT for his last article defending The Trade. He'll be whistling a different tune soon. I'll pass, thanks.
Excellent rant bro! I agree 100%. Those knobs you named only have one sentence in their vocabulary: "It's a hockey play." The NHL is a crap league full of headhunters.Bergevin is on the clock.
I wasn't happy when the trade happened. I blamed MT2's (and JJD's?) hate for PFK and DGMB succumbing to moving PFK. BBQ isn't a bad trade-off but DGMB traded the future for now, even more obvious when MT2 got the boot for the second time. There's nothing that can be done to undo the trade. I think all FHFers loved PFK in his Habs jersey. I know I did. I do not dislike him in his mustard colours but I've let it go. Like I did when Patrick Roy was traded but COL was still too much a Nords team for me to be happy for his 2 other Cups.
Bergevin overestimated what he had up front. The sideways (maybe even reverse) trade made no sense to me. If you are going to trade a stud dman like PK you better get that #1 center back. Epic fail on MB's part. I realize the PK era is over. Right now, as far as I can see, the Habs have no identity.
I'm also pissed that when the trade happened at how hard he beat the drum and told fans how they should feel and be on board. His opinions are his opinions but I don't think he should tell fans what they should think or feel. Didn't he also beat the AF drum right up till he was fired? I do however like his anti SFU rants.Hockey's done for Molson so now he's concentrating on handing out beer fridges.'For Canada’s 150th, we’re rewarding 150 Canadians who make this country special. Nominate the great Canadian who inspires you and they could be awarded their very own Molson Canadian beer fridge.'He had a great Canadian right under his nose and threw him away. If I was a young tech-savvy I'd get a whole bunch to nominate PK. But he'd probably throw out any ballots he gets for him too.
Time to watch The Great Wall.
Good movie, I was very entertained by it.
I liked it as well, well worth the time
I am not saying that he was the next coming of Wayne Gretzky but BBB had a lot invested in Zach Kassian. So his preseason car crash really messed with his plan. I watched Kassian a few times in Edmonton and he certainly looked like he could have played the power forward role. Would have been interesting to see him with Shaw...just something to add to the post mortem...
http://www.blastr.com/2017-5-9/may-9-day-sci-fi-history Maybe my fav Sci Fi movie
The world is in awe of a cyper attack on windows xp. This is like a foot and hove attack on the 17th century.
I hope 4HF has a good firewall, we wouldn't want to lose all this data.
We'll just get 29 to sue Google.
Yep...on my doorstep so I will be going to that this summer at some point.
Spicy beef stew with green beans.
Added some black olives and capers to give it a zing.
We went to the cinema last week and saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Marvel Studios has another winner, although this one didn't have the same wow effect the first one did. The one thing that Marvel does is they don't cheap out on the actors. They were all excellent and my favourite in 1 and 2 has to be Michael Rooker (Meryl Dixon from The Walking Dead) as Yondu, he keeps that great southern accent of his in this character. Kurt Russell did a nice job as well. Looking forward to the new Thor Ragnarok movie this November.
Yesterday afternoon Melnick asked his colleagues about the Molson fridge ads and said he's really proud of the campaign, how often it played and how involved he was getting right into it right down to reading the disclaimer then he says he really must have learned about branding from one of his players.
he's really proud of the campaign, *meaning Molson, not Melnick*
Watched the third of the Preds game. Give them the cup now. They have 3 number 2 D man. On the attack its like 5 forwards. PFK is the most defensive minded of the bunch. Aside from a couple of spinorama's he is beige compared to the fireworks of the other 3. For trading Flip Forsberg for a bag of pucks, Poile should be doing time with Milbury. I remember that draft, (gCHuck), many had him projected at first overall. I he went at 11 and at 22 is the best of that year by far. The good news is gCHuck has more skill.Refs were horrible and it appears Buttman is phoning it in for Preds. Horrible goalie interference, no calls. However they did call back two goals.
I've got this funny feeling that PFK is going to have the last laugh.
Refs are wearing Ducks shirts under their stripes all series. They did give a penalty on 1 of the 2 disallowed goals. Laviolette stated that PK / Elkholm are better defensively so he uses them to shut down top lines while he uses Josi / Ellis offensively.
'Ryan Getzlaf 23.15 mins with 0points tonight = PK Subban 25.05 mins of pure shutdown defending.''Subban and Ekholm were matched against Getzlaf at evens. In that head to head matchup the Preds got 70% of the scoring chances.'Also shut down Toews and Taresenko. PK is very coachable.
Got the first 3 episodes of Better Call Saul in last night. I'm losing interest in the stuff going on between Jimmy and Chuck but I like what's going on between Mike and the Salamancas and Gus.
I thought the courtroom ep wa amongst the best.
You'll like E4
1997 a phenomenal year for movies It was 20 years ago, But that was a long time and no matter how I try. The years just flow by like a broken down dam. [Chorus] There's flies in the kitchen I can hear 'em there buzzing
‘Arrested Development’ Is Coming Back For A Fifth Season.
Finished the first season of Dark Matter. Good Canadian Sci-fi material. Good characters. Turns out one of the main characters was actually a Canadian Idol winner. Yep that was actually a thing.
crotch and mclame's marlies were eliminated last night. So sad...
R.I.P. Chris Cornell.
missed him living overseas for the 90's but a Grundge hero and thats my band
R.I.P.Heard this morning. Reports say may be a suicide.
Nice dig PK.
I'm sure he thought the same when he was a Hab, imagine going to the rink everyday after being being dragged through arbitration and knowing management will trash your every move even when it's not warranted, not being supported by your coach when asked about Sochi and definitely not a hell of a chance to be selected when BBB was on the management team the last time. What a toxic atmosphere he must have lived through under AF & BBB and yet, he still wore the CH on his heart, loved the city and benefited the community.Saint Paddy is right, PK wins the trade. He said it then, leadership starts from the top down. Good for you PK! Go Preds!!!
Fiddler (befitting name for Nashville) also said that he would sweep the floors for Poile.I'll bet Poile didn't get BBB's vote for GM of the year.
That works for me.
It's still me juce but I had to create another account, 'someonme' is hacking.
juce love you baby but you having a PFK Nashville avatar just make me somethingin you case sad
Just because PFK is no longer a Hab doesn't mean I can't root for him. :o)
Wow, blistering 31 degrees here today. A bit cooler on Friday low to mid 20s as I hit the links for the first time this year. Perfect day to be anywhere but stuck in an office. Bonus to be on a golf course on the last day of 'shoulder season' overlooking the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.Cheering for the Preds and Sens. Primarily for hockey pool reasons, secondarily for PK, thirdly for a Canadian team...even if it's the Sens. I've just stopped trying to think about what the Habs are missing compared to the remaining teams. It's a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, stuffed in a foxhole.
Saint Pad...hope you golfed well. The last sentence of your post is the most concise summation of the Habs I have heard in ages..."it's a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, stuffed in a foxhole" - absolute beauty sir! (... polite golf clap...)
PFK scores on his own net in OT, we won the trade:)
PFK passed to Elkholm from the corner along the boards but Elkholm missed the pass and it got to Perry. PFK hustled to the net and Perry's shot deflected off his stick. PFK gave them a chance to get back in the game when he scored when the Ducks were leading 2-9. The Preds didn't play the entire 1st period having only 2 shots. Shit happens.
from the corner along the boards *behind the net to the other corner to Elkholm*
Apart from a couple I think that most of us here are rooting for PFK.
I want to see PFK bring the cup to Montreal.
TFS for Traves? No, both will be same cap hit, and TFS will be here in 8 years. We will trade gCHuck for a bag of pucks.
So the Habs' beating drums are all now saying how great PFK is. Say he's now a shut-down defender and good at both ends of the ice. The Francophone media is all of sudden all gaga saying how much he's 'matured'. They were quite the opposite and complicit in spreading AF & BBB's mantra that that he was a poison.
Going into last night's game, Ellis/Josi were on the ice for 16GA, PFK/Elkholm won on for 4GA.
*were on* not won on
the fickle finger of fatehttp://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/19420838/ryan-johansen-nashville-predators-rest-playoffsNot only is it impossible to get a number one center, its impossible to have him for the whole playoffs
The Ballad of MB (as sung by Johnny Cash)I hurt my team todayTo show that I could dealI focus on the blameThe only thing that’s realThe media cares for goalsThat unfamiliar thingTry to kid it all awayBut they’ll remember everythingWhat have I just doneMy sweetest fansEveryone you loveI’ll just trade in the endYou could have it allMy empire of derpI will let you downI will make you hurt
Condolences The M - your Sea Dogs put up a good fight from all accounts.
We are not done yet.BTW, that ballad above was completely plagiarized, but I had to pass it on here. Of course the song Hurt was written by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails but the great Johnny Cash covered it superbly.
Truer words were never sung.
Gonna be tough for the Preds without their #1 centre, No news on Fisher's status either (suspected concussion rumours) and Fiala who was also an important player. Wishing all the best for them.
What's with the Sens and the Canadian flag on their helmets? I don't think I like that, reminds me of SFU saying the laff are Canada's team and I think it's a slight to the other Canadian teams. Ok, maybe not the Habs given all the political stuff. Don't understand why Buttman agreed to it.
Though TVA said imagine the Cup at the Capital on Canada Day. Like they care about that.
I hope moeman is OK.
k3x thanks for the compliment. "it's a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, stuffed in a foxhole" was indeed inspired! Unless I've read it somewhere before and forgot, in which case credit to whomever that might have been. The M - nice parody on Hurt (even if not yours). Boy your Dogs had chances but couldn't finish. Reminded me of another team we cheer for.The first 8 hole were probably the best golf I've ever played. The ninth hole had a strong left to right wind off the ocean. I promptly put three consecutive balls into a pond on the right side of the fairway. And it was all downhill from there finishing at 103. My quest to get under 100 continues. Beautiful day, cold beers and lots of laughs though. So it was a great day in the end.Hopefully our fearless leader is just busy enjoying the sunshine and nothing nefarious has happened to him. We might need access to an internet lawyer.
The quote is from Churchill"I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigmaHe was puzzled by the Russians failure to embrace control by the City of London. And nothing has changed.
All good. Extra long weekend up in QC. Back Monday with a SF.
I know you'll enjoy it to the fullest.
“Until the Canadiens give an explanation, there will always be speculation for why it happened,” Subban says this week at the Predators practice facility. “For me, I have moved on. I am not focused on it anymore.“Ultimately, I think I am in a better place. I am with an organization that values what you bring every night to the team, and what you bring to the city. I am not somewhere where management doesn’t want me.“People have embraced me here. There is no better feeling.”https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/pk-subban-nashville-predators-2017-nhl-playoffs-anaheim-ducks-hockey/article35064407/
Ryan Getzlaf fined $10,000 for “directing an inappropriate remark toward another on-ice participant” Shaw was fined $,5000.00 wonder why he got double that - oh right, because Shaw had a 1 game thrown at him, they should do the same to Getzlaf. Getzlaf whining to the ref when he's a dirty player along with his buddy Perry is quite is pathetic when refs let him commit 10 infractions before calling anything. Maybe the refs won't be so gracious now that he
...threw one at them.
Corey Perry is Messier-lite... a dirty fuck who knows how to use his stick to carve people up and gets away with lots of shit. Wish he played for the Habs.
I remember Ferarro calling Perry out at Worlds last year calling what he did a garbage play. When Perry was asked about it later he claimed he didn't know what they were talking about. Here's Ferrarohttps://twitter.com/Pascucci015/status/732642080116203520
The other night he gave Rinne the butt end of his stick in the mask after the whistle. Also speared him in the groin couple years ago.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92ckOcyQh1s
Are these guys legit? How can someone like me, a non-techie, protect herself when huge corps with entire IT depts get hacked and compromise your data? (Looking at you CTV's parent company). Bad enough I always have hardware probs.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_Party_of_Canada
Preds take it! PK gets called for 'roughing' with 20.6 secs left while the Quacks got away with waaay worse crap. Guess who one of the refs were? yep Hebert, the same ref that called him for embellishment.
SFU saying Rinne should have got a penalty for playing the trapezoid.'Rinne okay to cover the puck outside the trapezoid since he was in the process of making a save.'
Wow, the SFU are so prod-quaks trying to point out un-called penalties against the Preds and totally ignoring the gazillion non-calls on the quacks.
This guy absolutely blasted his representative into oblivion. WOWhttps://twitter.com/nowthisnews/status/865175901532598272
Watching the IIHF Men's Worlds with Team Canada playong King Lunkhead's Swedish Meatballs. There are 3 kids playing for Canada that I would love to see in a Habs sweater, Nate MacKinnon (Col), Travis Konecy (Phi) and Brayden Point (TB). What great young gifted players. Really skilled with some backbone built in.You know, it's sad that a GENERATION of Habs fans have never seen them win. Never. Molson and his gang are still relying on the past to keep them relevant. The leaf finally pushed past that when they brought in an outsider to oversee the organization. Maybe someday the Habs will follow suit. Hope I'm still around to see it.
Ugh, the Canadian goalie just got beat by a short hop grounder to the infield. A short-handed goal for the Meatballs.I see "Canada's" team (that can't sell out at home) are being pasted by the Tuxedo Swimming Fowl. That Sid is some player. If the Habs had only gotten a little bit of luck back in '05...
Pens need to finish off Ottawa cos they have a much better chance of beating Nashville if necessary. Praying to the hockey gods,
The Swedish Meatballs win the gold in a shootout, shades of 1992 in Albertville, France.Oh well, 2 golds and a silver in the last 3 years not too shabby for Team Canada.
During Koivu's IIHF's Hall of Fame induction acceptance speech he thanked the Montreal Canadiens for giving him his start in the NHL.
The Habs should be thanking him for sticking around as long as he did to keep the organization from being a complete wasteland for lack of talented players. Now that PK is gone and gCHuk sure to be shown the door shortly, probably N8 as well, the Habs can go back to their ideology of being a team that plays the "right way" and concentrate on preventing goals rather than scoring them. I'm sure there's some more 5th line slugs out there that Bergevin hasn't found yet.
I heard today that Tom Brady was drafted by the Expos in '95 as an 18 year old. Too bad he chose football - could have saved the franchise and won 4 or 5 World Series for Montreal by now.Still hoping for a Preds/Sens final, but I think the turds are cooked. At this point it's anybody but the Ducks. They get away with more crap than the Broons - Calgary and Edmonton fans can probably attest to that even more than I.
Bang on about the Quacks. They are getting away with the dirtiest plays I've seen in some time and certainly the nastiest series yet. The refs need to do their jobs.
Didn't Burkie hire Carlyle to coach "truculence" for his leaf? Apparently he's still teaching it. The Quackers were the dirtiest team in the league when they won with Randy back in '07.
C'mon Saint John you're better than this FFS.
Fucking cowards attacking innocent people.http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-40007886
Wow, I thought Saint John would at least be competitive in this tournament but are they ever shitting the bed tonight. Fugly. They'll get one more chance when they play Seattle but will it even matter? Meh.Time to watch PK for a while I guess.Wow, what a dirty hit from behind by that Quacker. These guys don't deserve to win anything.
Very surprised to see 2 penalties earlier on stuff that's usually let go.
Nothing accomplished on a 5min PP. Wake up.
Wow, what an embarrassing performance by the QMJHL team from Saint John. Just awful, I hang my head in shame. I'm calling it a night.
Go Preds, probably wont CHeck out the game. I found a new series. I am a sucker for time travel and Travelers with Will from Will and Grace is one of the best time travel series I have seen.Trekkie's will love this prime directive from Russia
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The Nashville Predators are going to the Stanley Cup Final!!!!!
Congrats to the Preds. A well coached and well built team.
PK is so happy he's like a kid in a candy store.
Refs set the tone early and there was less filth dished out by the Quacks.
Congrats to the Preds. Heartbroken over the news from Manchester this morning. Heard about something at a concert as I was calling it a night. Wake up to 22 dead in a suicide bomb attack. RIP to all those innocent lives lost. So so sad!
ditto, way to many useful idiots in this world.
Congrats to the Nashville Predators and especially PK Subban and David Poile for a great run. It's not over yet and the Pittsburgh Crosbys are a formidable opponent but I now think the Predators are a team of destiny. Four more wins for Nashville and Marc Bergevin can cement his legacy right up there with Reggie Houle as Habs GMs who helped another franchise to a Stanley Cup win.It is indeed sad that more lives have been wasted by a cowardly attack that is now a too common occurrence. Unfortunately this is the world we now live in and there is nothing anyone can do about it. RIP.
agree with your first paragraph, but not the second. Stop funding terrorism and like most things its not sustainable. Two nations spend billions a year supporting terrorism, why do we not make them stop?
Who's going to stop them and how do you do it?You have two major philosophies at war and have been at war for thousands of years. It's not going away.
R.I.P. all those affected in the UK, by some fucked-up lunatic!
R.I.P. Bill White.
Congrats to PK and his Preds for making the SC Finals.I'd love to see Poile give his players the OK to play in the Olympics. Make fuckface bettman and babscock squirm.
Merci mon ami.
RIP Roger Moore - He was my first Bond memory.
And I completely understand the arguments for/against him vs. Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Pierce Bronson and Daniel Craig. I have intentionally left out Timothy Dalton because he was a shit Bond. It's just that the first Bond film I ever saw starred Roger Moore - who in turn, turned me onto the Connery Bond films and it went from there...
Dalton almost killed the franchise for me completely...Bronson re-invented the role with the spirit of Roger Moore. Craig gave it the kick in the ass it really needed!
I grew up with Connery and loved Moore. Moore moved the Bond franchise into the times. Cold Dark Killers were not in vogue in his time. IMHO Moore is more responsible for the Bond legacy than Connery. That said Sean and Daniel Craig are better Bonds.
Wow. R.I.P. indeed. He was my favourite Bond as well, he was just so suave. Loved him as The Saint too. I loved the theme song to that show, can still hear it in my head.
Re: Bill White - I have a vivid memory as a very young child looking at his Chicago Blackhawks hockey card and referring to him as White Bill. Pretty sure it was Christmas morning and I got a pack of cards in my stocking. With that hard floury gum. Delish. Anyway, I recall my 3 older brothers and my Dad laughing at me for that one. While I like the badass version that Daniel Craig plays, I'd say I'm in the same boat as K3X in that Moore was my intro to Bond and holds a special place. And I think if one was to do a tally, they'd find he shagged more than the rest of the Bonds.
someone should blog about who scored the most as Bond, and who scored the best. Without thinkingaboot it Moore is going to win both contests
I remember Connery saying something like the colour of the shade matching the carpet.
I was never a fan of Bronsnan
I would say Connery had the best Bond girl (name wise) of all time bar none. Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore.
R.I.P. Roger Moore, Bill White and to all the victims who perished at the hands of cowardly bastards. Condolences to family and friends who must live on with their losses. My son and his wife just came back from 2 weeks in Europe and I worried just about daily for them to be safe.
I only ever watched the first Daniel Craig Bond movie and I have to say I was unimpressed. They were rebooting the franchise and I was tired of Bond movies anyway. It wasn't the same when 007 wasn't going up against the Russians during the Cold War. I didn't give a crap about some super-villain, drug cartels or the North Koreans.
blasphemy, Craig is Bond according to the man from Intrepid. Cold men doing cold things while we sit warm.
Was never a big Brosnan fan until I met him filming Grey Owl, in, literally our backyard hills;https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_Owl_(film)Really nice guy.
I am a big fan of his early tv and later post bond works.
No other defenceman on the Predators is even close to Subban in the playoffs when it comes to winning contested loose pucks, the kind of play he executed to perfection on the boards in the defensive zone to spring Colton Sissons and Calle Jarnkrok for a rush that ended up being the series-winning goal for Nashville against the Ducks Monday night.http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/look-p-k-subban-dominated-stanley-cup-playoffs/
As soon as I saw who wrote it I left the page. Don't believe a word he writes.
Ok, Poile then:'"He's really playing a great team game," Poile said. "One of the things that's probably not talked about enough is how good he is defensively. I think everybody was talking about his razzle dazzle and offensive what-have-you, but he's a stud defensively. That's probably why we're here, is our defensive play plus our goaltending."
BasuMatthias Ekholm and P.K. Subban 5v5 ice time together in the playoffs: 292:54 against top opponents5v5 goals against in the playoffs: 6Ellis and Josi have been on for twice as many goals against at 5v5 in about 22 fewer minutes.
I'm not saying PK is the best on the team, just pointing out that his game/role can't be downplayed simply because some don't like him.
One thing we can all agree on is PK is a polarizing figure. All I know is regardless of his off-ice dealings and branding, he wasn't as bad a defenceman as therrien and babcock made him out to be. The only reason I hope he and his Predators win the Cup is so he can throw back in therrien and Bergevin's faces. Other than that I don't really give a damn who wins now. Anyway, there's going to be tonnes of internet ink spilled on this subject for years to come.OK you Sea Dogs you, you've got one chance left to redeem yourselves. Make the most of it!
Turns out there was a Guinness World Record official to measure the decibel level in Nashville last night.
We all know a fish rots at the head, and in the foxhole trenchfoot can kill you.For me, the moment that said it all was when Peter Laviolette reached over at the sound of the final buzzer and gave P.K. a big bear hug in celebration of the big win. A moment of genuine and mutual affection. At no time did MT ever show P.K. any respect, let alone affection. On the contrary. All that MT ever did was heap misery in the form of his tough-love program to turn P.K. into “a better person.” Finally P.K. no longer has to put up with the orange-tanned imbecile and can play with a team that recognizes what a talented and valuable player he is.Is PFK the last piece of CHicken that make a imortal bucket? Would Nashville have been in the finals with BBQ? Only the playstation knows. The thing I know is that PFK was not going to win the Cup in Montreal or for Montreal.
BBB is going to offer gCHuck 6 years at 4.5 and N8 the same term for a mil less. If they refuse they will be like oranges that came all the way from CHina.
Congrats to the M's Reservoir Dogs for putting up a touchdown after giving up a dozen the night before to make it to the MemCup playoffs. I guess he likes cheering for Jekyl and Hyde teams.Go Turds! Don't drop another steaming pile in the Igloo and you can be the Aliens (you know...vs Predator).
Thanks! I think. :-)

Bonne Fête Bob Dylan. He's 76. (see what I did there?)
Happy Bob God Day, and he did Nashville (Skyline)
"Realism is understanding your GM has done nothing in five years other than hire an insipid mango shytgibbon to watch an excellent core grow old; sewer a year of said core; trade away the most popular player in a generation for an older player at the same position; and bring in an endless array of scoreless puds at the bottom of the lineup. Realism is understanding that if you stock the cupboard with 400 tins of green beans, your cupboard is still not really so full.Optimism is watching a monkey fling feces at the wall for five years, but still preaching patience, because after seven years, he may suddenly start solving calculus equations."To be fair, I think we should give Bargain Bergy at least 5 more years to work his magic. Of course a couple of last place finishes during the next 5 years might help. Also, he needs to stop throwing away draft picks on 5th line non-scoring slugs and start selling said old, used up 5th line slugs for draft picks of any kind.
Realism is understanding that if you stock the cupboard with 400 tins of green beans, your cupboard is still not really so full. The M - you are on fire buddy! What a great line! +1
Hell of a game by the Habs prospects for Windsor last night. Addison with the hatty and CHevy with the other goal. I really like what I've seen of Addison (my mind goes to Black Adder for a nic, but that's not politically correct, so I won't mention it). "Baldrick, I have a cunning plan!" Just Adder. Like a snake in the grass you don't see him til it's too late and he strikes. But give him a year or two to make the big club and he should be promptly ruined.
unless they are had delivered from Europe or Russia our prospects will be shattered by the process. Why cant we send CHevy to Sweden for a year?In happy News greens hold the balance of power in BC.
We'll soon all be "Being Amish" getting around in our horse and buggies with the Greens running things.
with a good women, a garden, a couple chickens, solar cells, flow cell battery, internet connection and a 3 d printer you can tell the man to fuck off and mean it
Hot this summer!
Bargain Bin was at the Memorial Cup game last night watching SergaCHevy and the Adder, there's a picture of him on his cell phone... probably trying to trade both of them for Matt Irwin. At Harbour Station they have the Kiss Cam, Dance Cam, Beard Cam... also the Oblivious Cam for people on their cell phones instead of watching the game.
Bergevin’s 2017 Habs were arguably worse than the 2012-13 club and were certainly further from winning a Stanley Cup. His outdated thinking is taking the team in the wrong direction.http://www.writehumanity.com/case-firing-marc-bergevin-open-letter-geoff-molson/
This is basically a history lesson which Habs fans are well aware of. I skipped over a lot of it because I've read the same stuff by different writers ad nauseum. Anybody who watches as many games as we do knows that empty2.0 was the key culprit in this mess. Right now, there is a severe lack of sheer talent on the Canadiens. That's it. Bergevin got rid of his most talented player and I would bet the number 2 guy will be gone shortly. I don't consider pacioretty talented at all. He can't carry the puck worth a damn, he's a shooter plain and simple. Radulov is talented but Bergevin may decide not to pay the asking price. Nope, all I see is more regression next season by a team getting older not younger. Julien isn't the answer either. They may come out of the gates fast (again) but the old Dec-Feb doldrums will kick in like clockwork. Molson can fire Bergevin but it will still take the next guy another 5 years to put more tins of green beans in the cupboard.
Quite a good read this...wonder if Mr Molson has seen it?
https://www.nhl.com/news/new-documentary-shows-thrill-of-winning-stanley-cup/c-289608364The stories are what make the documentary special, among them Lafleur's tale of one year disappearing with the Cup after the Montreal Canadiens won it and bringing it to his family home, creating a frenzy.http://ottawacitizen.com/sports/hockey/nhl/senatorsextra/about-that-day-guy-lafleur-stole-the-stanley-cup“Claude phoned me on the Sunday. He was so pissed off at me,” Lafleur said. “He said, ‘You have the Cup.’ I said, ‘I don’t have the Cup.’ He said, ‘I know you have the Cup.’
Steve Ott is joining the #stlblues behind the bench as an assistant coach.
There goes BBB's leadersip hope.
Remind me who we traded for Ott?
A sixth-round draft pick in 2018
Ott got an assistant coaching job while AF is still waiting to see if Florida will call back
Larry Robinson is no longer with the Sharks. If there is a Hockey God Claude will fire someone and get him here asap. But I don't think he'd even consider it anymore.
Hiring Larry Robinson to coach D men for the Montreal Canadiens, NahThe Truds a collection of flushables except for Karlson on the verge of the finals. A team not hitting the cap, while we the Ferrari of the league are stuck on endless tune up
