    1. Hey.

I'm OK but neighbours and others not so much.

I live approx. ½ a Km from the river, up hill.

Lots of road closures and the water is at it's highest in 25+ years.

I've been in my digs since 1990.

Drove to a store near the NW side and the river was at road level on a busy street.

3+ days of rain will not help.

  5. "P.K. is a very dynamic player," Housley said. "I don't think people give him enough credit for how well he plays in the defensive zone. He's a strong player down low, he can protect the puck and he uses his offensive instincts differently than Matthias or Roman or Ryan.

"His escapability is his strength, being able to spin off guys. But it just took some time for them to jell."

That process is now complete, with Subban and Ekholm handling the bulk of the ****difficult defensive assignments against the Blues and Josi and Ellis making the bigger offensive contributions.**** But those roles can flip at any moment, and likely will in Game 5 because the Blues will have the final change.

But the Predators don't really care because they don't have one true top pair. They have two.

"I just thought [Ekholm] and P.K. have done a terrific job ***defending on better players**** and we could get Roman and [Ellis] more involved offensively because I thought they were ****defending more,"**** Housley said. "But you're not going to get the matchups you want, so you're going to have to count and trust the players you put out there."

As for the whole PK stuff...i do hope the Preds win it all. Then I want PK to come to MontreL with the Cup and do what he does best. Share it with the kids he loves. Share it with the fans. He told us he would bring a cup to the city. Not his fault it won't be a Habs one ... then he needs to go visit Geoff Molson...ask him how that 5 year plan he's paying for has worked out...then go spending more time with the kids in his hospital. Opening night for the President's Cup Finals at Harbour Station in Saint John, NB. The Saint John Sea Dogs vs the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Game 2 tomorrow night will be on the main snot network if anyone is interested. A historical tidbit: the coach of the Armada is Joel Bouchard, who played for the Saint John Flames of the AHL back in the 90's. Anyway, this is fun hockey to watch if you are interested. I like to shamelessly promote my hometown as well.

    ReplyDelete
  16. the Maritimer8:40 AM

My Saint John Sea Dogs prevailed 6-3 last night. Apparently it was broadcast by TVA Sports, I watched it on the local Rogers channel and the local guys were talking about how all the TV timeouts were slowing the pace of the game down. No matter. Sportsnet 360 is carrying tonight's game but I think I'll head down to the rink tonight to catch this one. Rumour has it that the Armada coach, Joel Bouchard, who is heavily involved in Hockey Canada, will be the coach of the Laval Rocket next season. I hope it's true so that the Habs young players can continue to be de-Therrienized. Bouchard likes to unleash the hounds and play some offence, maybe he can replace Clod after a couple more years of defence-first trap hockey. First things first, they need to find a couple of players who actually know how to score goals.

    2. the Maritimer9:38 AM

Yes, I was going to mention that he worked for RDS as an analyst. I think he could be a fresh, young mind in the Habs organization.

I should also mention that recently signed Habs prospect Defenceman Simon Bourque plays for the Sea Dogs, a mercenary picked up from Rimouski at the trade window at Christmas. Could be a future Hab from what I've seen, he will be in Laval for sure next year.

      Delete
    3. I wouldn't mind seeing him coach the Rockets, Lefebvre needs to go but wouldn't the Habs make him play the same 'system' ?

      Delete
  17. I have been wondering about something recently. We all complain that's BBB can't get a forward case that's hard and the M talks about de-therrienising the rockets...but BBB was a d man for 20 years in the nhl...can anyone tell me if he ever won a thing? Any cups? I honestly don't know and in the immortal words of HF29 "I couldn't be bothered to look it up" - so just maybe we need to de-bbb the rockets before the Habs can be contenders again...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. K3X I'm pretty sure BBB never won anything other than best dressed GM in 2014. But I also refuse to look it up. I don't even know which teams he played for. Presumably the Hawks. I'm thinking the original Jets? No idea. I do know he played over 1000 games, just because I remember hearing that earlier this year.

      Delete
    2. the Maritimer12:39 PM

Bargain Bin never won the Cup to my knowledge as a player but was an executive with the BlackHawks when they won once or twice.

I've lost faith in the guy. He collects defencemen and 5th liners like pokemon cards. In 5 years I've seen no improvement in the Canadiens. He admits there is nobody in the organization that can help with the scoring woes, yet continues to "build" through the draft, well that may be a lie as well since he trades away draft picks to acquire "character" players or players who have won previously with much more talented teammates but turn out to be duds when they get to Montreal. He thinks he has a contender with Carey Price in net but that's just smoke and mirrors. The Habs are not a playoff team. They get shut down very easily when it gets serious.

Bergevin says it's hard to trade, hard to draft and hard to score goals. I wish he would get out of the way and let someone who is capable of solving those problems take over.

Finally, what GM or coach in his right mind takes one of his truly talented players, drafted 3rd overall, and puts him on the wing on the 4th line? Seriously? I don't care how many mistakes he makes defensively you are just neutering yourself out of spite. Philip Danault couldn't carry Galchenyuk's jock strap skill-wise. If you are going to lose, go out at least trying to score a goal or two. Pacioretty let his teammates down by disappearing but Galchenyuk wasn't even given a chance to fail. If I can quote moe, "It's going to get worse before it gets better."

WE could not land the Shipwreck? We have 3 3rd liners at center and the best center in the KHL signs for two years at $4.5. Either CHe said to him dont bother, or Che said to BBB dont bother.

Good ol' Bergy the D-man spends millions and millions on peers like Weber, Markov and Petry to defend but forgets you need someone who is allowed into the offensive zone. Then you have the Invisible Man who is playing for chump change waiting for his UFA day to arrive so he can sign with his boyhood faves the Rangers.

I've been bashing Bargain Bin a lot lately, so I'm going to see if I can help him out instead. OK, so Montreal needs a number one center and has for a long, long time. BB says you can't trade for one since other teams will take advantage of you. I get that. You can't draft one when you are picking in the 20's, fair enough I guess. There is a 3rd option if one has the balls to do it. Offer sheets. I read somewhere else today there are several number one centers who are RFAs this summer, Leon Draisaitl from Edm and Ryan Johansen in Nashville. I don't know if Jonathan Drouin is a center but he's an RFA as well. So sign one or threaten to, like Burke did with Kessel. My preference would be Johansen but, whatever. So what if it costs you three draft picks, they are no good to you anyway and you're not developing the ones you have so why not? Get rid of some of your crap players to create cap space. C'mon Bergy, stop trying to be a nice guy and play hardball. Money is no object to the 2nd richest team in the league. Do it or you're out of a job anyway.

    You're welcome.

I read the article. Todd is full of shit on this one. Seems like he's trying to defend Habs management and Bergevin in particular. The Habs are no farther ahead with the Trade and will increasingly get burned over time. In 5 years with Bergevin at the helm they have accomplished... nothing. I guess he needs 5 more years to get something done. Good luck.

Hats off to moe for contributing to his community. We got lucky in southwestern New Brunswick and didn't get the amounts of rain predicted. Only a few minor road closures. Stay safe mes amies.

    2. The PFK for BBQ trade is not yet fully accounted for. Smoke and Smoke and more smoke forced PFK to leave the Stanley Tent. When TFS comes out and nails the lid on his coffin you know, it was something more than something.

Hopefully like many bad boys they clean up in a new city, and PFK seems to have done this well, as die CHelios, Roy and a list to long to mention.

Had we had Phil Housley as D man coach would things be differant even if he could not speak French. Ocams razer has cut the playoff beard from the club for decades and the conclusion is inescapable. The management does not yield. We have so many pegs and we will take all the round players, square ones we will have to sand down. So we get a team that is full of sand and grit but lacking in performance. Its like the engine of a BMW, take away all the frictional loss and its a FORD. Fix or Repair Daily.

I sure hope DBMB can pull of something in the offseason, but I am really bugged that the Shipwreck did not wash up on our shore, considering we dont even have a beach.

  46. Translated from an article in La Presse

A glance at the statistics of the match surely did not comfort the president of the CH. PK Subban was the most used player of both teams, being on the ice for almost half (27 min 19 s) of this key encounter.

Since the beginning of the series, Subban's solid, effective and inspired game has been unanimous. By getting his services, David Poile, the CEO of the Predators, called 76 a "modern defender," tailored to the speed of today's NHL. Geoff Molson must now understand the meaning of this.

Subban's successes break a tenacious myth that he is an unreliable player, too often willing to take crazy risks in the hope of shining in front of the fans.

    and

Leaving Montreal is unfortunately the best thing that has happened to Subban. Impossible to offer good performances without the full support of his bosses. Yet if one can draw a conclusion from the last few weeks, it is because Subban is a "manageable" player if the management knows how to deal with his strong personality.

If we had hired Frankinstien, kept PFK and Lego, we would still be in the playoffs. Franky takes square pegs and makes a game plan highlighing their skills. Both MT an CV2 take square pegs and ask them to be round. If you can make the Princess Plyon a playoff star, you are coach of the year.

I've been reading lots of articles/comments at various locations on the internet regarding what Bergevin should/could do. That stuff used to keep me entertained after the Habs bombed out of the PO's, however I find myself strangely disinterested this year. I don't really care who they pick at #24 or even if they pick at all. I don't trust Bergevin to make a trade to help his woe begotten team. Like Moey, I've distanced myself from NHL hockey, except for a very few minutes of the last Predators game. Even the World Championships haven't caught my attention yet. The Sea Dogs and the Memorial Cup are all I have left. Soon it will be all golf for me since MLB can go fuck themselves. Nah, I'm not bitter. Not much.

    1. Nice rant bro.

Similarly not into the game but hope Sid wins it all again v. Oilers. Have zero interest in WHC and no sn360 in my 'package'.

    2. And the Habs can still fuck off.

  54. I'm torn between Caps and Pens. On the one hand, I have 4 Caps in my hockey pool. On the other, I picked the Pens in 7 in another pool. On the third hand, I don't want another fucking Sid parade to deal with this summer. So, go Caps! Trailing 1-0 just as I finish typing this.

Also, I've tuned into the M's Seadogs here and there. They look quite unbeatable.

Putin scores 7 goals today at a Russian "fun" game. Bergevin should look at signing this guy.

  56. Yeah! Oh what a big surprise. NOT.

  57. Wow, having Chocula behind the bench is how you lock down a 2-0 lead in the third. No room whatsoever for the Caps in the final frame. Can't imagine the Sens beating this team, but then I didn't think they were going to beat the broons or rags so what do I know.

  58. Now, Go Oilers! Not that I'm staying up for that one.

That's it. Saint John sweeps the finals 4-0. They only lost two games to Chicoutimi all playoffs one in double OT. Powerhouse team Memorial Cup bound. Sweet!

Habs prospect Simon Bourque scored a nice goal tonight, hopefully when he gets to Laval, Lefebvre will be long gone so Bourque won't get "therrienized".

  62. So it's Pens v Turds and Preds v. Ducks...personally I would love to see a Pens Preds final but methinks the Ducks will get 'er done in 6. Pens in 6 as well

    1. Or another 6 ft. Dman...because ytou never can have too many defencemen. Besides, getting a center is hard...very hard.

    2. There could be a Strome brother available, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Yotes take him at 23. The Habs will take 'the best player available', which in their minds will be skinny defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph from the Charlottetown Islanders.

I wish they could get his brother Mathieu from Tampa. Guy's got some serious skillz. It would be nice for another Sea Dog to become a Hab since N8 will be heading out the fucking door shortly.
