  3. Trading away a 30-goal scorer would be insanity. He had 17 goals in 61 games while being bounced around the lineup last season, Che had 18 goals in 76 games.

Habs need scoring so I fail to understand why they feel the need to get rid of players who can score. What is the problem with having more players who can score than not?

BBB totally created the problems they have on defense and now he's trying to nickle and dime Vodkov? Vodkov always wanted to be a Hab and never tested free agency where he definitely would have been paid more by another team and he was the iron man for some time. He's paid his dues and is still the best D to me - not knocking BBQ here just saying Vodkov may have slowed down but still has the hockey IQ and vision, can see/make plays and makes accurate passes. They threw N8 away for a 3rd, lost (Y), lost Ken Doll on waivers by playing with fire with that turnstile to the AHL they had him constantly go through. Plaid seemed like a solid, physical D who got scratched - 14 times - if he made any mistake at all causing him to always be thinking about making any when he did play, not a star but solid. Some will blame his wife but his treatment led up to that (she'll know better now) and I think the Habs saw that as their opportunity/excuse to trade him along with a 4th round pick for J&B. I won't even mention you know who. What's the common thing here? For a team that stresses defence there seems to be problems with their defence, why is that? Maybe the problem is the coaching staff? Why are they supposedly waiting to see whether Lefebvre gets a contract somewhere else? You can't run a team based on friendship.

Should I be optimistic with the draft when they trade Chevy, their best prospect who won defencman of the year? I love my team and I don't claim to be a hockey guru but sometimes they just leave me dazed and confused.

Of course, if Bergevin’s price isn’t met, he would be wise to hold on to one of the few players on his roster that plays a creative style of hockey. After all, there’s a reason why half the league is knocking at his door.'

This NJ/gCHuk talk is intriguing. If MB is making a play for No.1 overall, does he take the big prototypical NHL center Nolan Patrick (Wickenheiser) from the WHL OR... the smaller, slick, speedy center Nico Hischier (Savard) from the QMJHL? Oh the drama! I think he should leave well enough alone and try for the #3 pick and take D Cale Makar.

I don't think I'll watch Gary's borefest. I'd have to drink a lot and I don't want a hangover at my age anymore.

I don't disagree about the MB middle finger to the fans. He's going to do what he wants no matter what anybody thinks. And lie thru his teeth doing it...

Or Timmins is sick of watching his good work go to shit, more likely.

I like to dump on Bergevin with the best of them but the Habs draft record isn't a lot worse than may other teams including a powerhouse like Chicago. They've had many busts and traded some away like Danno.

Here's the thing: Unless you are drafting a sure fire thing like Crosby or McDavid it's a crapshoot with any of these kids. Many, many players show up in the system from much later picks or are free agents who matured later. The NHL Draft is an overhyped suckfest started by tsn and picked up on by buttman who wanted to follow the NFL model of pomp and pageantry.

Good luck to Mr. Poehling. I'm guessing his ceiling would be a 2 or 3C but Montreal has been known to try and fit a square peg in a round hole.

These are the same people (we take Bell Media and Rogers to be essentially indistinguishable in this context) who parachute in a much-despised analyst as part of the broadcast crew covering the Canadiens at playoff time. The same people who assume fans across the country share their rabid interest in the Blue Jays, Raptors, Toronto Argonauts, Toronto FC and (especially) the Maple Leafs.

  35. So free agency comes up this weekend. Not expecting much because, you know, it's hard. Probably going to be pretty easy to throw away the only goal scorer we have not named Patches but very hard to find a replacement who doesn't play D as a first position...at least that's my take. I am completely pessimistic right about now because I spent this week last year praying and warning about what was going to happen with PFK. Absolutely nothing BBB has said or done since last year has even remotely made me change my mind. He is a liar, a bullshit artist and a fucking nonce when it comes to running a big club that demands a winner. He claims it's too hard to get a Center but 4 other clubs made moves for centers that cost draft picks - why couldn't he. Not like the Habs were sitting on any gold mines. And he has about half a dozen cast offs that he brought in last year that he won't know what to do with in a couple of months...And you know what else - I'm still pissed that they got rid of Barberio last year - I know - waiver rules bullshit - but if he was any good at all, he would have kept him. Now he'll spend the summer trying to re-sign someone of his quality...and he was quality. It's all bullshit and I'm still pissed - so I am going to sign off for a bit while it all dissolves in front of me. He will offer Vodka a year, piss him off and let him walk. Che will end up getting a half dozen years at stupid money and he'll fuck around with TFS until Christmas - unsettling him in the process and screwing with our team's sych completely. That's what I see happening and I don't want to be the one you all hate because of how negative I have become. I shall return when there is something positive things to say. I will be lurcking in the background but silent on the comments I apologise my FHF friends...I hate being negative and I hate what it does to me. I'm not nice to be around when I get like this either (The wife tells me that a lot sadly!) So have a safe and happy summer...Hopefully see oyu all real soon!

      Delete
    2. Hear, hear! I too am guilty with my share of negativity this year. The way I see it K3X, is if we can't look at our team with a critical eye and everything we saw and posted about them was bubblegum and lolipops, then we would have been leaf fans many, many, many years ago. A place where every player is then next NHL superstar or current superstars are all biting at the champ to join their team and can't wait for their contracts to end with their current teams and GM's and coaches are the best thing since sliced bread. The typical collective mantra as fans toss jerseys on the ice and then buy new ones. At least we can look at our team without rose-coloured glasses on and eat up whatever the media is feeding us and think for ourselves. Unfortunately in the last couple years the leaf management seem to be doing a better job than ours. They moved contracts which seemed impossible to move like Clark$son - which is basically a loophole to circumvent the cap - and Kessel, Dion, come to mind. The highest-paid guy we had got traded and his salary is all on BBB, no one else and the first season he was gone he had the audacity to say he was looking for a puck-moving Dman - then he trades another for a 3rd round pick and trade another puck mover who just won Dman of the year. The cupboard is empty and he doesn't care because he's in panic mode trying to save his own ass. He nickles and dimes his best players and overpays for others. He couldn't get a centre because it's just soooo hard so what does he do? Creates another hole by destroying the D instead. I agree on Barbie, I always said they were playing with fire bouncing him back and forth. He'll now tell us that getting a puck-moving D is sooooo hard because when teams have assets they hold onto them. Gee, too bad he can't practice what comes out of his mouth. And the loyalty to his coaching staff is just baffling. AF is only gone because of the TFS death-stare and the little pow-wow without AF there. Like I said I love my team but that doesn't mean that I have to love the job management is doing. And with all the holes on D, why the hell isn't Vodkov signed yet?

      Delete
    3. So maybe that don't see gCHyuk as a centre, but he can score but he turns around and signs Drouin before he even played a single game and not only that but he made a public spectacle by having him literally sign it during the presser. WTF is that? What does that tell gCHyuk? We don't give a shit about you, that's what. I don't care about the rumours about Chucky have fun off the ice, the name is the Montreal Canadiens not the Montreal Saints. Good thing he wasn't around when TFS was young and enjoyed himself a little.

I fully understand K3X and juce's negative feelings towards Bargain Bin Bergy and his traveling salesman act. I don't trust him as far as I could throw him. But, until Geoff Molson says otherwise, he is the guy driving the Habs bus.

Hopefully, he doesn't trade Galchenyuk because I think the kid still has a lot of potential. I'm fine with the Drouin trade, the few games Sergachev played didn't cause me to become attached to him. It's great to acquire a young, dynamic, highly skilled player. Let's all hope CJv2 let's him play his game.

All that being said, let's remember why we frequent this joint. It is a blog that offers Habs fans a place to vent against the enemies, the putrid leaf, the dirty shit-stained broons and especially the arrogant fucking morons aka the Toronto media. Let's all remember that. I think where we went off the rails was our disdain became directed at Arrogant Fuckface and by extension BBB because of his misguided loyalty to his foxhole friend. Plus the shock of the PFK trade.

And Vodkov gaining Canadian citizenship also speaks volumes. I like to be optomistic, I like to be happy but sometimes the movie Shelter makes sense. Some time Jim Morrison can be seen as not just a poet but a prophet.

  66. BBB likes to sign Cup winners. The best center of ailable fitting that bill is Nick Bonino. So expect him to throw a bunch of money at him. Hanzel mayb e an option. I like the size but I don't know if he has the skill this team needs. Guess we'll see what comes up tomorrow.
